  1. Thanks for your posts. Can't wait until April when I get to experience the Prinsendam. Just wondering about the main dining room menus. Are they the same as the other delicious HAL menus or are they able to offer different choices?  (With less people....). How is their wine selection?  Cheers!

  2. I checked Trip Advisor. The reviews are wonderful, but for lunch. We have an overnight in Bordeaux, and our tour is at 6:30 pm (18:30). We wouldn't get there until after 7:00pm.... HAL info says tour is with food and wine pairings. Sounds fantastic, doesn't it? Just wondering if it's worth the cost. ;)

  3. I haven't read all of the comments posted, but was on the Zuiderdam on July 7 just after this incident and may have been their second part to the back-2-back. We heard nothing from any passangers that were on that part of the cruise. All I can say is that we found the staff to be warm, friendly and helpful. We thought the cruise had the best service ever from those we've been on (including many HAL).

When it comes to excursions and getting off of the ship, we found that some people just don't want to listen or follow directions. (How many times do you need to be asked to take a seat?) Some feel that they just don't have to wait for anyone, and get annoyed.

  4. Wondering if one can choose water temperature (cold, warm, hot)? What about the dryer (cool, warm or hot)? I am assuming that your bag is washed alone, not with anyone else's. Is that so? Lots of picky questions but will help me with my packing. Thanks for any information.

  5. Did anyone else enter back in the fall HAL's America Test Kitchen Culinary Journey sweepstakes? Well I did! I don't usually enter contests, but with the test kitchen on our next cruise on the Zuiderdam, I thought it may give me a better chance to be involved in it on the ship.

Background.. I've been calling and writing to our senators and congressmen about our terrible healthcare rates (highest in USA) Phone rings, caller ID says Washington. I am thinking it's someone calling me back to discuss my issues. But no!!!! It was Holland America calling to let me know that I won 3rd place in this contest! I won a Koehler faucet! Thank you Holland America and Koehler. ;p

  6. Have a wonderful time. Thanks for telling us all about it!

We can relate to the age thing....

Our first HAL cruise was a WWII reunion cruise (which we had no idea of this group which filled most of the ship.) We were the age of their children! Very few people bought the raffle tickets for the free week cruise, so we bought a few. We won the week!

So there are some benefits. ;)

    Cheers!

  7. We are considering a Greece cruise, and heard that the ports are so overcrowded in the summer. It's early in the season, but wondering what cruisers are seeing as far as crowds and lines. Any comments? Thanks!
