But, as I mentioned, I did and spoke to the agents directly. They said that there was an error on the website, and what the agents could read was not displayed for the consumer to read. They said to call the corporate.

That is also plainly spelled out in the terms and conditions as a reason to deny the claim.

This is no troll post, and actually, I am not a child. The word child refers to me being the developed diploid zygote of my parents crossbreed. So, therefore in no way does that mean I am like 6 or 7, but rather much older than that. Additionally, I believe there is an age limit.

I actually do not need my parents to navigate this situation. I am trying to help them, and you all are simply impeding that. You claim that since I am not an adult, which is not true, I am not able to provide details. The reason I am not applying details is simply put I do not have enough details as I do not know what to provide. My parents do not have time nor patience to deal with Carnival Agents, so I am helping them. I can provide you with more details, all I ask is that you be more respectful.

You've indicated you are under the age of 18, which means you are not yet an adult.

There was nothing disrespectful in my post.  However, yours have been redundantly incomplete, inaccurate and inciteful.  In the interest of being helpful, here are some questions that may help you help your parents who don't have the time or patience to manage their discretionary purchase:

    1. When did your parents make their booking?

    2. Was the booking made direct with Carnival or through a travel professional?

    3. What fare promotion was the booking made under?

    4. What fare promotion is being considered for comparison? Is it direct with Carnival or against a third party advertisement?

    5. Are you comparing like categories and criteria to match the current booking? Providing the sailing date, cabin category and number of occupants (as booked and as offered currently) would go a long way in letting the community provide guidance.

    6. What was the reason given by Carnival for denying your submittal for fare adjustment?

It is highly recommended that you read all the terms and conditions of the booking made as well as those that govern the "price matching" offer.  This will provide you with a wealth of information to pre-determine what may not make sense of the denial you have already received.

Hopefully the above offers you the critical thinking parameters necessary to evaluate your parents situation.

  3. How, when, where, why and what you are trying to match to makes a huge difference in getting rational explanations to why you are being denied a price-matching scenario.

Since you provided none of these details, perhaps this one is best left to your parents to navigate (unless you can be more forthcoming and maturely communicative so guidance can be provided).

I was trying to book a new cruise, not cancelling one. And "Do you have anything to say for yourself?" is something I would expect to hear in a courtroom, not from a NCL agent.

I wasn't addressing your situation of an inappropriately phrased question of your reason for previously cancelling multiple reservations in a relatively short period of time but explaining to another poster the reasonableness of a polite inquiry as to the nature of their own story of cancellation.  The insensitivity and lack of comprehension to the impact of making and then canceling reservations in the hospitality industry is astonishing considering if the tables were turned the fury would be touted here as unacceptable (and compensation expected).

just an FYI: just booked MSC Meraviglia, Apr 5 2020, inside, decent Western Caribbean itinerary.

Total Booking amount $1,660.13 ($453 per each adult, $293 for child, $154 tax pp).
Not too bad, is it? Better than Carnival.

Pricing, yes.  Services and amenities, no.

I had cancelled a hotel reservation a few weeks in advance.  The agent had the nerve (and I say nerve) to ask me why.  I told him the reason “someone else is going to this conference rather than me” and then said “but I don’t see how it is any of your business”.  I think “what business is it of yours?” Is probably a good answer.

Of course it's their business.  Any representative that doesn't ask why a customer is cancelling isn't doing their job. I cannot fathom being insulted by a politely phrased "May I ask why you are cancelling?". Rudeness is an entirely different matter.

I'm sure someone would complain "They didn't ask why I was cancelling - they don't care about my business!".

Quite often posters here have touted the popularity of Vibe and lamented the race to purchase the passes. They couldn’t understand why NCL wasn’t raising the price. Well, NCL listened.

Finally.  This should thin the herds of stampeding guests down a bit and put a fair market price on the service.  Those willing to pay the price can have a leisurely stroll.

Didn’t see it but I might have a few choice words if someone accused my spouse or granddaughter of drug abuse too but maybe that’s just me.

Is it acceptable for the OP to accuse staff of theft (or drug addiction) to the exclusion of any other possibility and unacceptable for others to consider otherwise?

If so, please never get a job in law enforcement.

This is the internet, not a courtroom. Strangers are free to accuse each other of anything they want.  In this case, the information provided by the OP supports the hypotheses made by others.

Hubby and I loved sitting in Bliss hot tub on Haven deck with a drink enjoying sailaway last summer - waiters even took our adult beverage orders and brought them to us!

The Haven hut tub is quite different from the human soup cauldron used by the masses in the "common area" with dozens of people dunking themselves in and out (with a few camping for hours). I for one prefer the rule not letting those squatters fill their bladders with freely available beverages knowing they will be unlikely to vacate their claimed territory to relieve themselves lest someone else be waiting to enjoy adding their own simmering juices to the stew.

Carnival has one heck of a lot of photo stations and, yes, they get in the way of public seating. It's an annoyance each and every time we try to find someplace to sit and people watch.

There are dozens of alternate places around the ship for you to sit and watch other people.  Simply avoid those around the very popular photo stations art the time the crowds are gathering to enjoy their use.

You'll still get to look at people in a less stressful area and those who want to get their photo taken won't be in your way.

Booked early and yes doing a compare got a better deal. 2 of our other cruise was offered a Casino rate. Just disappointed as a platinum cruise the rate is not better.

The Past Guest rate is available to anyone with a VIFP (or prior cruise) regardless of level.

Your angst seems to be that you are not offered a greater fare discount based on your VIFP level.

There’s a reason why they don’t offer a discount to those who have achieved Platinum status, if you think about it long enough. :classic_biggrin:

I understand that they have a business to run, but these higher prices will end up pricing us out of the market. Our upcoming cruise will be the most expensive vacation we've ever taken and I'm not sure we can keep this up.

While you may feel priced out of the market, there are still millions filling ships despite the rising prices.

It would surprise me if the vision was “We’re focused on price and will be lowering it so people don’t feel they are paying too much. Even though our product consistently sells out, lowering our price will help our customer’s pocketbook.  Of course, those customers want a premium product so we must spend more on our offerings to further please their sense of value.  The result will be lower profits for the company and its shareholders.   Remember - the customer is always right and must be satisfied at all costs because they claim to be ready to leave in droves if not, even though decades of growth statistics prove otherwise.”

Understanding the differences between how a business us run and how a charity it run is imortant to balance what we want against what we need.

    https://www.breitbart.com/border/2019/02/17/cartel-gunmen-storm-cancun-bar-5-killed-12-injured/

    Quoted from 17 February 2019:

Four cartel gunmen carrying rifles and handguns stormed into a bar in the tourist resort city of Cancun and began firing indiscriminately. The attack on Friday left five dead and 12 others injured.

The shooting took place Friday night at approximately 11:43 p.m., according to a local media report. The attack took place at the La Kuka Bar located at Avenida José López Portillo and Súper Manzana 60 Manzanas 8, within the municipality of Benito Juarez where Cancun is located.

Initial reports indicate that the gunmen entered the establishment armed with one rifle and four handguns. Without warning, the cartel gunmen began firing indiscriminately at employees and bar patrons. Following the attack, the gunmen fled in an unknown direction in two different vehicles. The La Kuka is a strip club located in one of the highest crime areas of Cancun. The area is located just west of the primary tourist zone.

11:43pm in a strip club located in one of the highest crime areas.... yeah, tons of cruising tourists are at risk.

  14. I similarly have sailed in the aft of the Pride (decks 6, 7 and 8 ) multiple times over several recent years and not experienced the level of vibrations mentioned by those who say it shook loose their teeth - not even in the dining room.

Maybe we were lucky (or just oblivious).

Sounds like there are reports the supposed vibrations have been diminished so those sensitive to it could return.  The Pride is a wonderful little ship.

  15. Sorry, coevan... once again you have interjected with your own perception and preferences touted as “fact”, which I found very confusing (and I’m pretty savvy).

Schoifmom did an excellent job of trying to clarify the confusion you brought to the discussion.

Please be more considerate with your secular and individualized responses, contemplating the actual question before machine-gunning inappropriate answers.
