  1. I have no idea about suites--have never booked one.  We have more days with HAL than with RCCL and yet we have almost no useful benefits because we are under the 200 day requirement.  We keep coming back to RCCL and X because we like their loyalty benefits better.  I imagine you would get better treatment booking a suite no matter which line you decide on.

  2. We will be on the Equinox in November and are always interested in the music offerings.  Can you remember the name of the house band?  What kind of music did they play?  Is there another band as well?  We were on the Solstice last month and they had two bands we liked.  Thanks for your review.

  3. I have a cruise booked for September and final payment has already been made.  I did an online chat with Celebrity yesterday and they said no OBC would be added to my trip--sale final.  Did anyone get OBC added after final payment?

  4. We took the Princess shuttle once from Vancouver to Seattle at the end of our cruise.  The bus had faulty air conditioning and we waited in an endless line at the border.  You couldn't get off the bus to get air because it was sealed for entry into the US.  We got on the bus about 8:30 am and we just barely made our 4pm flight out of SeaTac.  I would never take that again.

We’re on the Allure of the Seas right now.  All of the music and entertainment is available.  The Tenors show and Mama Mia are the stage shows. Live music is being played throughout the ship.  Hope this helps!

Words of advice - book your show times using the app on the first day.  There seems to be no overcrowding in any of the venues.

Also, make sure to make reservations for all of your dining on day one, including Your Time Dining at the MDR.  Your Time Dining no longer means show up when you want.  If you do, you will be waiting for seating.

This is helpful information and we appreciate your response.  Our cruise doesn't stop at Nassau, but St. Thomas is one of them.  I don't love more sea days, but we are committed to going, so I guess we will see what happens.  I'm glad the entertainment is being offered.

    Thanks to everyone who responded.

  6. Whale watching is great in Victoria.  We have whale watched in several different parts of the US and Canada and Victoria was the best.  There are different kinds of boats--we like the ones with restrooms.  They are all about the same price, so no need to waste time price shopping.

  7. Thank you for your review.  We were on the Koningsdam on the 1/4/19 cruise and the dining room experiences we had were nothing like any HAL ship we have ever been on.  We had anytime dining and could never get a reservation before 7:45.  We walked in every night and the disorganization of the dining room was terrible.  When you would finally be called, the host would walk you around in circles looking for your table.  This happened every night.  Some nights we sat at the table for twenty minutes without any acknowledgment that we were there.  Every meal took at least two hours.  We felt the food quality was uneven.  Some items were very good and others were less than mediocre.  We were seated upstairs one night in the fixed seating area and the service was much better that night.  We ate every breakfast in the MDR and after the first two mornings of cold toast and cold pancakes, I switched to oatmeal.  We didn't know there were breakfast rolls and muffins available because the waiters who usually bring trays by were not in evidence until the last two days of the cruise.

We still had a good time--the ship was clean and beautiful.  The wait staff in the dining room, while not very competent, were friendly and smiling.  Our cabin was very modern with the best air conditioner I have had on a ship.  You could see your breath.

We found the service to be very good at the Lido.  We prefer to be waited on in the dining room, but the lunches we had in the Lido were all really good.  Some complained about not being able to serve yourself, but I like it that hundreds of people aren't handling the utensils and dipping their fingers in the Thousand Island.

  8. We were on the 1/4/19 sailing on the Koningsdam.  We got to the ship about 11:15 am.  We are only 3 stars, so we had to wait in a long line.  Security was quick, but they didn't have many check-in agents and we were in line for at least an hour.

It has been our experience that all lines ask you to arrive later, but we never do.  We like to get there in time for lunch in the dining room.

  9. We were on the 7/21/18 cruise on the Maasdam. They had hot appetizers in the Ocean Bar pre dinner, but not every night. One night we asked for some and he went somewhere and got them. They also had them at the 4:00 happy hour in the Crow's Nest, but not every afternoon.

I found a library book and just took it and read it during the cruise--there was no librarian.

  10. We were on the Freedom this month and were at breakfast in the MDR waiting to be seated. There was a man in front of us with a sleeveless shirt on--it wasn't even a tank top and he was turned away from breakfast and was told "we have a dress code here". After we were seated, I noticed women with bathing suits on with no cover-up eating breakfast there. At dinner in the MDR, I saw the worst bunch of dressers I have ever seen on a cruise ship. Not only were they wearing shorts, but it looked as if they had slept in them. This was widespread. I really don't care what people wear, but it is difficult to know what to wear when the rules are so different depending on who seats you in the dining room.
