  1. From http://www.royalcaribbean.com/beforeyouboard/travelDocumentation.do:

"Royal Caribbean International strongly recommends that all guests travel with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of the cruise."

I always thought they would not accept a passport with less than six months to expiration. Guess I was wrong.

You would have to look up the policy for each port you visit to see what their requirements are. You may want to consider bringing along your drivers license and birth certificate as a backup form of citizenship, in case the passport is not accepted.

  2. The 70's dance party, hosted by the cruise director staff, is held in the Centrum. The cruise staff dress up for it, but few passengers do.

I don't know when you are cruising on the Jewel, but if your cruise is out of San Juan then the Vortex will likely play mostly latin music. That was definitely the case when I was on there last month. There were brief times during the week when they would play non-latin music - and the dance floor was packed during those times - but after a song or two they would go back to the latin music, even though it resulted in much fewer people dancing and less peoples staying in the club.

  3. I will be visiting Curacao in about 2 weeks on the Jewel of the Seas, and I am torn as to which beach to visit. I know the Playa Porto Mari is reported to be the best beach on the island, but it is also the farthest away from the pier and the taxi cost is pricey.

I am looking for a nice (non-rocky) beach that is a little closer. Would you recommend Cabana Beach (aka Kontiki Beach) or Blue Bay Beach? I think they are both around the same distance from the pier - but I'm not even 100% sure about that.

Any help or info you can share about these beaches would be great. Thanks!

  4. Thank you for pointing out those options. I am not opposed to going to the surcharge eateries.:)

We just 3 of them on NCL last month.:)

I have read a lot about the Park Cafe that sounded like my wife would love it for breakfast and coffee.

Probably going to book a B1 so she'll get lots of exercise getting there I think. lol

Hi Bill! :) Johnny Rockets is pretty good for breakfast too. I found the breakfast service there to be much better than in the MDR, and your food is cooked to order.

  5. Thanks for sharing. Was on the same cruise as you. Now after doing this, we would like to go to Alaska in a different time of the year to see what Alaska looks like after the snow melts.

    Great review and pictures.

We were on the same cruise too, and we feel the same way. I've done the first cruise of the season, now I'd love to do the last cruise of the season so we can see the difference.

    Great review Jen!
