As stated earlier in the thread, not that bothered about water but as a diabetic a stock of something I KNOW won't spike my blood sugar in the cabin can be a lifesaver, but unless you have a chronic medical condition you probably wouldn't get it!

I'm a diabetic myself so largely stick to water or a diet variant. Not bothered about alcohol so that would not be an issue that I'd worry about. I take the point that for medical purposes this is completely acceptable but to save money I just see it as pointless.

We made that decision a while ago after watching a tender smashing against the side of the ship and passengers literally being thrown aboard in Guernsey.
I now like looking at St Peter Port from the deck with a cocktail in hand..

Exactly especially on the very short cruises not worth getting off. Just done a short 3 nighter on MSC which went from Hamburg to Southampton via Le Harve. Stayed on ship and had a wonderful day and that was moored against quay.

look I know each to his own but seriously you've likely spent a small fortune on a cruise in the first place so why be so tight that you actually want to carry water onboard! Sorry I don't get it!
-
On a two night cruise it may be worth just taking carry on luggage. My only word of caution would be that a two night cruise may not be the best way to introduce him to cruising. These can tend to turn into party cruise with everything pretty full on due to the limited time. We've done many short cruises but vowed not to do two nights again. I would try find a three nighter. That extra night makes a huge difference and allows you to relax.

Very often better to stay onboard and chill especially if everyone else gets off!

Lol would be nice to have a Yacht Club like MSC

Still no news on refit other than a rendering of the new look atrium that I saw the other day. I appreciate nothing much will change but you would have thought P & O marketing department would have put something out by now!

I fancy a cruise on her but don't like not being able to choose cabin location so I'll have to wait before committing

No issue at all. Any empty seats are released a short while before Show is due to start if people have not turned up. From memory you can also cancel via the app

We stayed Hotel Pestana Miami Beach. Great stay!

If its sunny they would be open

Have done Seaside and Bellissima. Bellissima has far more interior space because of the atrium/promenade as opposed to Seaside which is very much designed for outside living and therefore the internal spaces are not as grand. It would largely depend on the experience you are booking. If YC then Seaside is designed for the sun and the YC is fabulous though not much shade by YC Pool. We found other parts of the ship crowded on a more normal experience so if not YC then at least go for Aurea experience. The YC on Meriviglia has more shading. Other areas don't have so much deck space. If sun is your thing then you wont go wrong with Seaside. Meriviglia would be far better for inclement weather

We really like the embarkation at multiple ports. Never causes an issue and saves a mass scrum first day. In this day and age passengers should be offered far more flexibility

I live very close to Harwich. We get the odd ship calling but nothing leaves from Harwich. Real shame. Did Ryndam few years back and it was excellent.

Er why did they not just ring in advance as I'm sure they would have been met in terminal?

£2100 for four nights means I'm out!

Is it just me or is nearly £900 pp for an inside cabin for four nights really expensive. I was thinking £400-500 would be reasonable. I can have a week away for that else where on the Celeb site. Appreciate it’s first cruise for Apex but generally that means things won’t run smoothly either!

Smaller cabin but YC any day of the week

She certainly looked like she was going at a fair clip

Looks like some kind of mechanical failure with throttle or steering controls as she was clearly receiving assistance from tugs at the time and likely a pilot was on board. Hopefully nobody seriously hurt

no difference on either plan

As ever you'll get conflicting advice but we have just sailed on Bellissima which has exactly the same set up and we found plenty of opportunity for sun bathing. The shades enable plenty of moments for catching full sun which then moves slightly so one does not ever feel over cooked! Having sailed on Seaside which has no shade at all, we found Bellissima a little more tolerable

I have reached out to P and O Management , who stated that whilst aware of the issue, no changes were currently proposed to be made to the stairs during the refit but the situation was under constant review. My comments and thoughts during our chat would be fed back to the relevant team including the suggestion of possible changes to the lift software in order to enable more efficient operation. I have to say they were very interested in my opinion and I was left with the feeling that they take the feedback around this issue seriously.

I think this would be a huge missed opportunity to put right what is a fundamental design flaw. They have done the same on the Princess sister ships so why not Britannia. The lift situation does not work and spoils an other wise lovely ship
Time luggage gets to cabin on 2 day cruses out of Southampton?
in P&O Cruises ( UK )

Sure you'll have a lovely time. Guernsey is a tender port and often gets cancelled. I'd be inclined to chill on board and make most of the ship
