  1. It's Graduation time in our town! Last night was the 8th Grade Graduation from the town's Intermediate School, and this evening it is the High School Graduation. I love that we can hear the Pomp and Circumstance being played from our backyard. Last night I walked over to watch the Graduates, but also to hear the school band, since our youngest grandson William was playing for his school. Tonight, I just stayed in the yard and listened. Our grandson Jack is involved with directing the cameras for the Graduation, and Ryan is playing in the high school band. Next year, we'll be in the stands for both Graduations, since Jack will be graduating as a Senior, and William will be graduating as an 8th grader. Our oldest grandchild Chris will be graduating from Villanova.
  2. Jim said Wet and Forget is fine if you don't mind waiting a while. I always sprayed it, and then would go back and rinse it. $1k sure is a lot!!! My friend up the street told me she pays $500 for her house and pool shed, so I was prepared with a price in mind. I had the young man come over after he'd finished across the street to give me a price. I first asked what he would charge just to do the front and sides of the house, since the attached apartment is only one story., and the back of the house I could stand on a ladder and do that. He walked completely around the house and apartment and only charged $400 to do everything! They did a great job. Now I only have to power wash the gate and fence, as well as the patio pavers.
  3. We had the entire house, garage, and apartment power washed yesterday for the first time! I usually use "Wet and Forget" but could never reach the second floor and attic. I was planning on buying goggles (no more outside jobs without eye covering...week four still without eye makeup) and was planning on standing on a ladder to reach. As I went for my morning walk last week, I saw that my neighbor was having his house power washed. I went and talked to the young man and his assistant and asked for an estimate on my house. Four of them showed up with two trucks, and they had the entire job done in one hour. It looks great!! I'm so glad I went for my walk that day!!๐Ÿ˜‰
  4. +1 He is so very handsome, and grown-up looking, Mark, with his beautiful dark hair! You and Susan sure have an enormous amount of such fun-filled events with all of your beautiful grandchildren!! It's got to be so hard who to pick to be your surrogate grandchildren, with Bob @bobmacliberty and Arzeena @Arzeena, vying for spots, along with so many others of us...๐Ÿ˜
  5. @firefly333 Jane, it is so good to hear that the Saga with regard to receiving the money for your Texas home is finally over and done for you! Enjoy your new life!!
  6. Greg, you can also buy pierogies in the frozen food section and cook them in a little oil in a pan with onions. ๐Ÿ˜‰ We then top them with sour cream once they're on our plate. So yummy!!
  7. I've begun watching informative videos on YouTube about London, and one person suggested getting on the double-decker bus #11, which will take you around Westminster, for just the price of a bus fare. Of course, there won't be any narrative, but if you've just arrived and want to get an idea where things are, you can't go wrong for the price.๐Ÿค”
  8. @firefly333 It sounds like your new home fits you perfectly, Jane! Your view from your linai is amazing, you've joined the community swim aerobics, they have a great Library there for you to read to your hearts' content, and you are looking to join a Bridge game. You will be meeting so many wonderful people by joining in the activities. I bet there's even more for you there. They may have a Bocce Court ! You are close to the Cruise Port. It looks like you've hit the jackpot! Well deserved, well earned! Welcome to your new home!!!๐Ÿฅฐ
  9. @A&L_Ont You're not kidding about the heat being on, Andrew! Phew!! Our pool was opened this past Friday, and just in time! I plan on getting in it tomorrow!๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. Thank you! Hopefully we'll get there early enough before the Tour buses arrive!๐Ÿ˜‰
  11. Thank you! I do hope our friends are also interested in the Ceremony of the Keys, and that we will luck out in getting the tickets! I read that the tickets will be released at the beginning of August for our September visit.๐Ÿคž
  12. It sounds like a great way to spend your Father's Day, Andrew! Nice stash you've got there. Good luck to Owen at tonight's game! BTW, is school over for Owen?
  13. Does the National Express Bus go from Heathrow Airport in to the center of London? I may be staying at Park Plaza Westminster, or Premier Tower hotel. Is there a limit to the amount of luggage per person? I'm hoping to pack lightly, but I may wind up bringing a full size suitcase and perhaps a carry-on. TIA
  14. I do believe that is the case of my PA. I somehow feel that she may be somewhere on the "Spectrum". (I have a grandson who is on the Spectrum and is very bright) My daughters wanted me to find another doctor, but we were new here, and our PA was recommended by a friend's brother who sees her.
  15. That's awful, Greg. How dare he smirk at you! I almost left our new PA when we moved here 7 years ago. I asked her if she thought I had a little impetigo just inside my nose, and she answered with a "So, now you are diagnosing yourself, Maryann?" ๐Ÿคฌ It just so happened that I had a dermatology appointment the next day, and sure enough, I did have impetigo. (Our daughter had impetigo as a baby, so I pretty much knew what that looked like)
  16. @BonTexasNY Oh Bonnie, I remember Jahn's on 86th (?) Street in Bensonhurst! I used to spend my weekends in Bensonhurst with a work friend of mine who lived on Bay 19th. I never had the kitchen sink ice cream bonanza, though!๐Ÿ˜‰ Ah, to be young again! (sometimes!)
  17. Thank you, Island2Dweller. I was talking about seeing all of the Tower of London. Certainly not all of London!! ๐ŸคจLOL!
