The wine on the ship is Mer Soloil. I do like it very much. I also like St. Michelle wines.

MerSoleil is lovely. It is produced by the Wagner family, who also produce the Caymus wines. You can shop around and get it for $21-24 a bottle, at least in the NY/NJ metro area. I discovered it on a Celebrity cruise, in Murano, in 2012, when a bottle onboard cost me $70. Last time I checked the price onboard, a year ago, it was $86 + the gratuity.

MerSoleil is one of my favorite chardonneys. I was introduced to it on Eclipse in 2011, and since then buy it at home, by the bottle, for $27-$30 depending on store & sale. In 2011 it was $14 a glass, and in Spring2016, on Silhouette, Murano offered it at $24 a glass!!!

I agree with most posters; the by the glass selections are disgraceful, esp for the Premium package.

  2. Thanks. I'll just have to call again then. Just like some of the others suggested.

Siora, I always book solo traveller. And in half the cases, I add a second person before final payment. I never have to rebook, and never am repriced. They (X) merely take the deposit for the second person, and add the port fees/taxes for the 2nd person. If you cannot get someone to do this for you, ask for Resolutions.

  3. Yes, I think it will be a great cabin. I'm just confused as to why it's considered obstructed view as the window washing equipment is nowhere near it.

I had 1549 on the Reflection transatlantic in 2012. The window washing equipment was just off to the side of my balcony, at the corner of the 1549 balcony, for the whole trip. I remember thinking that it didn't obstruct much of my view although it was in plain site, and there had to be a lot of 1549's view that was not obstructed either.

  4. At home I change my towels every 2nd day, but only shower once a day. On cruises I often shower twice a day and like fresh towels...it's part of the "pampering" I expect when paying this amount. I also like the evening turndown service when I come in at the end of the evening. It's a signal that my day is ending and it's time for bed. If Celebrity ends this, it puts another nail in the line's coffin as far as I am concerned.

We don't change our towels every day at home. I always thought once a day was sufficient. For the poster who thinks the chocolates are "nasty", can I have them[emoji1]. I take them home. I change my sheets at home once a week[emoji33]. I assume once a week on board is enough. Having said that, I to, hate to see changes. We will see what happens. I am on Infinity in October. I have friends in Alaska now and will ask them. Until Celebrity or Host Andy confirms this, I am not going to worry about it[emoji106]

  5. We had $80.45 in nonrefundable OBC left on the last day of our recent cruise, and took out $80 in slot credits which we parlayed  into $50 cash, leaving us with 45 cents in non-refundable credit.

When our refundable credit was charged back to our credit card a week or so later...it ALSO included those 45 cents.

Made me wonder if I could have gotten the whole $80 back if it had been left over at the end!

Has anyone just left the non-refundable credit on the account and shrugged? Maybe it's all refundable!

I've twice left the ship with Non-refundable OBC left in the account. Once for about $2, the next time for $7. Both times it was refunded to my credit card. I suspect they refund any N-OBC under $10.

  6. Just checked and the Premium Alcohol Beverage Package is on sale for around 30% off for the 25OCT16 Transatlantic from Barcelona.

Regular price is CAD$85.15 per day (CAD$100.47 w/ 18% grat) and it's on now for CAD$59.15 per day (CAD$69.79 w/ 18% grat). We did the math and we were planning to purchase the Premium Non-Alcohol anyway so the difference at the discounted rate will cover our usual bottle of wine a night and two drinks per day. Done and done!

Dahling!:D I'm on the Reflection TA overnighting in Barcelona October 24-25. Are you in Barcelona on the 24th? Dinner? Email me...LKrausseatAOLdotcom and let's plan to catch up. Like ships passing in the night...LOL. My love to your better half.

  7. I Made would be from Bali - I indicates a male and Made a second-born child.

The number of things that you can learn on cruises is amazing!

I hope that I Made is on board in October for our very first Celebrity cruise.

I Made is my favorite Martini Bar bartender ever. My friends and I sailed with him last April's TA, and again this April for a TA and B2B to Scandinavia. He leaves on vacation very soon, and we were trying to talk him into getting transferred to Reflection for our October-November cruising, but it looks like he will be back on Silhouette when he returns from Vacation some time in October. Depending on when your cruise is, you may be lucky enough to meet him. If you do, let him know Linda, Norma, Liesa and Jen all send their love!

  8. I spent the last 2 days plus a call with CC rep to try and add my CC number to my upcoming cruise during the online check-in.

Captain Club rep said that she found me in the system and was able to link my CC number but I checked today and that section is blank. She said that i need that # in my reservation to get points. She also said I can add the points after the cruise but I don't want / should deal with that hassle.

Has anyone experienced something like this and how did you resolve it? This will be my 7th cruise with Celebrity and will move me to Select.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I had this problem on Sunday night and again Monday. My friend and traveling companion also had the same issue earlier on Sunday, spent an hour trying to finalize checkin because the website would not let her continue without a Captain's Club number. She also waited on hold to speak to the Captain's Club rep about this, and then 15 minutes with them while they tried to figure it out.

So because I run a technology company for my employer, I tried online check in on Sunday night thinking I would be able to work past it. Same fail, where after entering all information and hitting "submit", the page came back saying I had to correct the Captain's Club #. I tried "Save and Exit", and went back in twice to find nothing was saved. I tried again Monday, and after three tries finally was able to get past the summary page and complete checkin.

I called Captain's Club shortly thereafter, and the rep told me (after 12 minutes on hold) that"oh yes, we've known about this issue since early Sunday or late Saturday I think. That's why you were on hold so long; we've been getting a lot of calls about this". I asked why X hadn't put an alert on the checkin page to let people know there was an issue, and either provided a workaround or asked people to checkin later. The rep said "oh! That's a great idea!" Huh? No one there thought of this?

More and more, I find Celebrity's management to be downright disrespectful of their customers through many of their actions. The broken website wastes time and actually cost me money when a cruise failed to transfer to my TA and I didn't know until day 66, the constant "razor cuts" in things initially offered but then cut, the overwhelming spam emails but never an email about, ..oh, say, cancelling my booked cruise, the push for feedback on a cruise but then not receiving the email to provide that, and then not responding to feedback that I do provide and for which I ask for a response.

There's a new Twitter hashtag: #NotModernLuxury and that now seems to be the only way to get their attention. That, and tweeting to @LisaLutoffPerlo. Try that.

  9. I am a dirty martini girl. Imagine my dismay when I finally snag a spot at the Martini bar, place my order and receive a glass of olive brine with small manzanilla olives. Where I come from manzanillas are used for hors d'oeuvres and cooking. Queen olives are the norm for martinis. Blue cheese stuffed queens takes them to the next level. Make it kalamata olives and I'm a happy glam camper. But I digress. Am I expecting too much? Do I really need to bring my own?

Depends on the Martini Bar and the bartender. My fave bartender on Silhouette knows that my dirty martini needs blue cheese-stuffed olives. Last cruise with him in April (B2B), I had just what I wanted. I sail Relection in October, and just in case, I am bringing two jars of my own olives.

  10. I am not sure what ships you have been on lately but the Blu menu has been changed on the Reflection this past winter. I thought there had been an improvement in the quality and variety of food offerings.

That's very good news, as one of the two Reflection cruises I have upcoming in October is in AQ.I have been sailing Eclipse, Equinox and Silhouette since Fall 2014. EQ 2014 was my last AQ.

  11. Three years ago I was assured by the Executive Chef on Infinity that Blu menus fleet-wide would be changed & updated by mid 2014. On Equinox in Fall of 2014 I was assured by the F&B Manager that as soon as Luminae was "settled in" the Blu menus would be updated, probably by mid-year 2015. It's mid-year 2016, and the word is still "any day now"??? There's a real credibility issue here. And I, who only sailed AQ, has stopped booking AQ cabins for the most part. Lost revenue, Celebrity.:(

When we have been on the Equinox in March this year, we talked to the captain's club host about the blu menus being the same 14days menus since ever.

She said that she will pass this feedback to Miami.

Afterwards we walked in to Blu for Dinner. And guess what? The maitre and the chef came to our table to tell us that the Blu menu will change soon.

We asked for a timeline and have been told that we missed it by four of five cruises.

So I wonder why they still have not rolled out the new menus.

I really hope they have something new to offer on our next Celebrity cruise(s). We love the food but we have gone through everything even the entrees we normally wouldnt not choose - just to try it.

  12. Tom, you're on the TA with my friends and I. Best ribeyes, filets, lamb chops, MEAT??? Lawn Club Grill!!:) I liked Tuscan on my recent Silhouette cruises, but for beef, it's always LCG if the ship has one.

Look forward to meeting you in a couple of months!

I am a steak eater. My preferred steak is a nice thick ribeye. My wife and I sailed on the Reflection in June of 2014. With one or two exceptions overall it was an amazing cruise experience. Rarely would I be so critical of an issue. However there was one thing on the cruise that didn't cut it and meat my expectations. That was the Ribeye steak served in the Tuscan Grill as well as Blu. It was an experience that was not well done by Celebrity. I ordered the ribeye twice--once in each restaurant. Both times it was embarrassing how bad it was--paper thin, tough and not cooked properly. I felt like a chump. I had been warned here on CC but didn't believe it could be that bad. I was wrong. The other cuts of steaks as well as the other menu items were fine. With the exception of the ribeye, we enjoyed Tuscan.

Fast forward to October 2016. We are set to sail on Reflection again and looking forward to at least two evenings in Tuscan. Are there any recent Reflection passengers who have been brave enough to order the ribeye? If so any improvements or observations?

    Cheers.

    Tom

  13. okay... so you bring up a quandary for me - currently we have the classic drink package so from what I understand no Martini Bar unless OOP (not happening) so challenged as to upgrade to premium.

If we were doing a caribbean cruise it would be a no brainer but with this being a port intensive, non lounging around much type cruise is it worth it to upgrade, and yes we enjoy our alcoholic drinks and nice wine.

That being said - if we do upgrade - what martini's should we try?

There really are few if any "nice" (i.e., palatable) wines on the Classic Package list. Upgrade to Premium for less than $12 a day all-in. That's less than one great martini or good glass of wine.

  14. My mother has COPD she uses an oxygen concentrator a few times a week. My son and I are asthmatic. We are looking to cruise Thanksgiving week. We want to know if the size of the ship matters. Also are some lines better at helping with disabilities.

What will have a major effect on all of you is the smoking policy of the ship. I have COPD and lymphoma and even the smallest amount of smoke triggers a severe reaction where I begin to cough, then choke, and cannot breathe. I cruise Celebrity and avoid the small three outdoor areas where there is smoking. Indoors, not a problem unless there is a cleaning product with significant VOCs being used.

  15. thanks for all the help that pic of 7143 is not even a handicapped cabin I know all the the balcony cabins have the over the bed storage have been on theses ships many times but never in a handicapped cabin

Hi, you are right; that is not an accessible cabin. I use acessible cabins, and you are right: no over the bed shelves. The dresser has 4 relatively shallow drawers approx 6-7" deep, and two deeper drawers approx 11" deep. The closet has a shelf over the hanging rod, and there is a second hanging rod in the closet at half height which would allow you to hang items one above the other if you fold slacks/jeans over the hangar. You have plenty of bathroom storage space, so no problems there.

When I travel with a friend, as I recently did for a 23 nt B2B, we each also bring 2 of those small light folding fabric boxes to hold stuff on the shelves of the nightstand. Really, if 2 women who overpack (6-7 pr of shoes each! ) have enough room, I think you three guys will.:)

  16. We have been cruising blu for the last 8 years, however this upcoming we booked CC since blu menu just got to be boring and we were less impressed with it on our last cruise. I really did not recall how varied the main dinning room menu was...thanks for posting I am really looking forward to our TA on Sunday :-)

Hapy, I'm also in Concierge after getting bored with Blu, and on the Silhouette TA leaving Sunday. You too? See you in the MDR if so.

  17. Well this is making the decision easy.

Just got a Celebrity e-mail stating "Get up to $500 to spend on your cruise cruise by booking your next one on board".

Since only getting $100 OBC from the TA and no other perks on this trans-Atlantic cruise, this will come in handy.

Hi, you do realize that the OBC you get back on this cruise is the amount of the deposit you put on a booked cruise, right? So you are not getting something for nothing as far as that "up to $500 to spend on this cruise". You still need to put an equivalent amount on your credit card as a deposit on an upcoming cruise. And if you cancel that cruise, there is no deposit to refund.
