It's two days prior to your sail date. Take the test Friday for a Sunday sail away. 🥂
No one ever wants to answer my question directly with a yes or no 🙂 so I take that as 12:05 AM on Friday morning should be fine.

Could I independently run this by everyone. My cruise is Sunday. My understanding is that I can start taking the at home test as early as midnight Friday morning. basically at the end of Thursday when Friday starts. Does this sound right?

Sorry your trip did not go well -- I fully understand that when one has their heart set on visiting a few ports and that is taken away, it can be very disappointing. Hope your next cruise is much better! Thanks for all your updates!
Second that. Thanks for all your updates.

Good day to everyone out there in cruise critic world. No information has been given to us with respect to the positions that positive testing crew members are in. There is somewhat of a possibility that some infected people are involved with the shows, because both showgirls and effectors have been canceled for the week due to Covid. And replacement of that they’re adding an extra tap show. There’s absolutely no indication that next week sailing will be canceled but they are not giving any information about port stops next week.
We stopped at the next cruise desk to find out if people can still make a reservation for this coming Sunday’s cruise, and the lady told us that they are not taking NEW bookings on any cruises between now and January 16.
I hope everyone has a nice Christmas. Off to another trivia game in a few minutes.
Hey @clover18, I saw that RCL is bringing in additional entertainment next week. Are you planning on staying on for next week?

You're right
This is such a bummer to hear. It’s one of the things that we look forward to on the ship. I have until the end of the day to cancel and I’m so conflicted about what to do.

I just talked with customer service in regards to my vacation next week on the odyssey. They had no idea that shows were canceled. And of course they couldn’t give any guidance on shows for next week. I do think that if royal knows that shows are not going to go next week they should at least notify people before hand.

All main shows have been cancelled so far
So the 270 show? Headliner? Every single one of them canceled?

This is where everyone will have a different perspective so it might be good to ask others opinions. We are out more during the day and so far everyone seems cheerful. Staff is great. Food service has been a bit slow for main dining room, we noticed that since day 2 in addition to all of the shows being cancelled. But then again, we arent show people. I told husband that I didn't know if the food wasn't as good as I remembered but he said that he'd already read that on the boards the quality of the food has declined. Pools are very packed but as usual people get chairs and try to keep them all day. From the look of the pools nobody was worried about covid.
ALL shows canceled??

I don’t know about others but I post updates when the captain or CD makes official announcements. Opinions about crowds and dining are my own based on my current onboard experience.
And we all look forward to your updatea!

@Kitkatgrrlwhat is the atmosphere on the ship light? Is there a lot of concern and fear about spread? Have there been any service issues related to staff being quarantined?

We will update when tangible info becomes available. I prefer to give real time info that is passed directly from ship board leaders like capt and/or cruise director. I won’t post speculation or rumors. The whole trip is a real disappointment to our family and probably to many others.
What is your recommendation to others booked for next week?

Hello friends, we were just announced that we were denied entry to Aruba tomorrow. The captain is heading back to Fort Lauderdale and we are expected to arrive there on Sunday as originally scheduled. They are refunding everyone two days worth of cruise fare as onboard credit. and in addition they are giving everyone 50% future cruise credit.
The two days onboard credit really is useless to most people, who are certainly not going to use it in the casino or the shops selling watches, so that’s a sunk cost for most folks. The future cruise credit is nice but It’s a win for RCI because most people won’t use it.
it’s pretty disappointing all in all. Really thinking about canceling our second week of a back to back but let’s see how tonight goes in terms of the enjoyment factor of being on board odyssey of the seas!
It’s very disappointing. It really sucks. My family is on the fence about going next week. A really important data point is understanding how many more crewmembers are found positive since this morning‘s announcement. I’m not sure if that’s going to go public however. If you hear anything about crew or passenger numbers could you report them here?

Now that there are over 50 crew members infected (made public by Royal) and at least 60 reported by other CruiseCritic members on the forum, does Royal go ahead and cancel the December 26th NYE sailing proactively? The crew infections are only likely to get worse.

On the Odyssey. It’s time to go home. We already had 2 days at sea, plus today, and 2 more home. No reason to pretend any longer, and no reason to keep us on a giant incubator. Cases are only going to increase, not decrease. Crew have been wonderful and doing the best they can. It’s the passengers refusing to comply with the mask mandates and thinking they are too special to follow the rules.
What's the general mood like on the ship now that more are finding out? Are people stressed out? Concerned? Annoyed?

Question for all: What, if anything, changes for the next sailing? Still the same crew. Still the same risk for additional crew outbreaks.

Would think the issue impacts surfers more than boogie boarding, but regardless, still a bummer for those who like to stand up.
-
Where the shows canceled because the crew members in the show were sick?

Could you please report what the capacity is for your sailing? Specifically the total number of passengers. Thanks!

So my husband had a headache yesterday and a sore throat. We are supposed to do a family cruise with our three kids on Anthem leaving Christmas Eve. I used one of our bionax tests. It was positive. He is getting a PCR done today but I am so disappointed since it’s not likely to be a “false” positive. Plus now I have to pivot and get everything together for Christmas at home.
After five cancelled cruises you would think I would be used to the disappointment and stop trying. Now to figure out how lto get money back or decide to try again. Unfortunately this was one of the last options for my college-aged son since Spring Breaks and summer internships don’t line up with my high schooler.
Sorry to hear it. I fear this over the next few days before my cruise on Sunday.
-
I agree with some of the thoughts right above this. I would’ve thought that royal would really put some limits in place on rooms for the next week or two but it doesn’t seem like that.

What would make you change your mind at this point? What additional information do you need?

Yes, a lot of ships have been sold at 90 to 100% capacity for holiday sailings.
My Jan 9th sailing was sold at 93% capacity prior to omicron and new mask mandate. Lots of cabins in all categories have been opening up.
How did you find out that it was 93%?

I saw a post yesterday from a Royal Blogger who is on Odyssey this week. He said the ship was at 96% capacity and would sail at 105% Christmas week and slightly more for the New Years eve cruise. He said the ship is overrun with kids. His biggest complaints were that the elevators were packed every night and MDR was wall to wall people.
I don’t believe that percentage based on the amount of rooms open.
