  1. We are planning a big trip with a couple different countries.

First stop London for a few days, followed by a MSC Norwegian cruise.  After the cruise, we will be taking the ferry then the train to Paris for on night and then the train to Barcelona, where we will be boarding a transatlantic cruise to NY.

Do you think we will need to exchange currancy for any leg of the trip?  We will have credit cards available.

Last year, we visited London for a few days before heading to Barcelona on a med cruise.  We found that most places were just tap your card and go.  We are not big shoppers, so most of our purchases will be food, excursions, etc.

  2. Thinking of sailing the Virtuosa from Southhampton in May on a Norwegian Fjords sailing.  We were then thinking about  then taking a Carnival TransAtlantic out of Barcelona to New York. I've been on one 3 day MSC cruise from Miami.

I have a few questions before I book.  On MSC, in the casino, are you able to charge what you gamble on your ship card, or do you have to bring money for the machines?  I'm guessing the ship would be using pounds?  The only cruise I've done in Europe was RCCL and they used USD.

I've just started researching, so I'm a little overwhelmed at where to start...

    Thanks in Advance

  3. Thought I would give an update.

We were on the Mardi Gras and my son and I took a taxi , $4 per person, to Tropicante.  They were open and we got a lounger in the shade.  We had a very nice day relaxing.  We are not drinkers, be we did have some chips and guac, a quesadilla and some sodas.

We had a nice time, but I am honestly worried about how they are doing. During our time, there were only 3 groups there.  The other restaurants seemed to be busier and had more of a vaca vibe, with music.  I know things have changed with covid and there were not near as many people visiting, but I was surprised at how slow it was.  I've been toTropicante probably 4 times before and hope they are able to stay open.

They do need to have more of an internet presence.  The last post on their facebook page was from Dec 2021.

  4. Howdy.

My son is trying to convince me to book the Wonder on a 7 day leaving from Barcelona....in June.

We have not done any overseas cruise and I am trying to see how it all works.  Is there anything we need to do to be able to get off at the different ports?

He is looking at flying into Amsterdam for a couple days and then flying into Barcelona.  Afterwards, he would like to spend a few days in Spain before heading back home...possibly leaving from Madrid.  Would it be better to just fly straight into Barcelona an worry about going to Amsterdam first?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA

  5. We are cruising MSC on the Divina next week.  I just did my match for Platnium on Carnival and I was awarded gold!

What do I do now to see that we get the perks?  Should I call the MSC customer service to make sure we are in the system?  Would love to get the on board credit and the spa thermal thingie. This is my first MSC cruise and now I'm extra excited.

If one nice looking set of clothes pushes you over the limited you probably packed more than you'd ever need.

When we fly on Spirit, we usually just bring one personal item per person, which is a bag 18x14x8. My son and I took a seven day cruise and managed to bring everything we needed, sandals, bathing suits, a hat, cover up, along wth shorts and tshirts in two bags.  My husband and MIL are on this cruise and I dont think they would be able to bring everything they would need.qNSvAqnXAMWQ2OYOcsQYQK4GhwJPvHIkjYEC-54d8B8Jcg3JKRhY2EjvHmQPvTwGetul5Qs5mvuUoSKYvFPjM5hdwxzowHdRbt7LBgfftWYanvZvcq2mb3I-RwAyFnD87swmxxjI2_yyrUuNtSIdTy7lW4eFR6vk35l4gtdBBzWUsTz06QRhUMFB07wdlJdCCwlw82PmpVd2oBUaVorV5h2CoxUD82DIU_czLDEr3xxrYNTWzZ_NM3LzHFrUWo6tQh_MDdDKUdH5AnMHk49LcqcBs18Y4SsZ82cl5D4LHQ1Utn78P8uhn0K89R8ZPMfhsGxGvsk8UjO3OdqO8u0T3x3ReNcty4Z-6fPo5uG-Ml2zxIaakGCVMund1jSpC9XD0K7vqNonnlFFBHSMHbEZkySSV4Nx8sNy8svqkBlzBM2CpqCde6jASzBN2j17AQpgL8-r1qtgjrz-UHkejGjurVglIaqBdfhiTK-lgP-K9FHO5r7jN7uuHXErgbEoImwC_EwElQxKmW4GpFe54ES-kZyqxU7zplI6xAKYiXDyFAKBqM70PyMK5ZDuzYa2bFBWPg0N7ho8N9p6lgPvxIsk6AF1JsVTz0I-36LaJjYds_XTklvUA1soulVCGbYCJSC3YUmhRL_t8p1-YJ_DjFMm0l4fRn3gl8ujyYNT63AmrYyqKVYhrcXqIxRYtFL_AFxT7LYYQha81Z9oa1NVd7x9dzS_=w1821-h864-no?authuser=0

  7. We just got off the Gem. They have a new type of key card and you are not able to make a hole punch to attach it to a lanyard.

If you a bringing your own lanyard, bring a pouch to slide it in.  We had a lanyard, but no pouch. I ended up just carrying it in my phone case and that actually worked well, since I had my phone with me to take pictures.

  8. The Jubilee was my first cruise way back in 1987.  We left out of Miami and went to St Thomas, Nassua  and San Juan.

My husband's family ( we were engaged) liked to cruise and had been on the other ships.  I found it so exciting...having to get dressed up and everything was so Fancy!!

  9. In Roatan, I recommend Maya Key.  It is a little island off the dock at Coxen Hole port.  They will provide transportation if you dock at Mahogany Bay.

You have to book it through the ship excursions because they don't allow other visitors.  There are no vendors or other people on the island.  They take you our as a group snorkeling and it is great.  They have a small pool and lunch is included,

  10. Thanks for posting those videos.

In the first one with the living room and deck, I am amazed that I counted over 30 chachkies/vases/coral.  That's not even counting the one's in bedroom and bathrooms.

  11. Any advice?

Flying in to Newark  early Tuesday, June 4 for the Celebrity Summit sailing on June 5 out of Port Liberty.   Party of 4, me, my husband, 16 year old son and Grandma.   We generally stay at Marriott/ Spring Hill Suits, mainly because we like having two beds and a sofa bed for my son, but realize that might not be possible. Looking for a hotel with hopefully free shuttles from the airport and to the cruise terminal.

Plans for the day are check in, leave the bags and possibly go check out sights.

After the cruise, our plans are to rent a car from Enterprise and visit with family in the area for a couple days and then coming back to the area to spend the night at the  Newark airport before our flight the next day.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
