  1. My girlfriend just did a cruise from LA to Hawaii return with a different cruise line at the end of January and the temperature was in the high teens (celsius) until close to Hawaii and then again for a few days back to LA.  She said it definitely wasn’t pool weather.    The seas were also quite rough.   This may not be normal weather and seas but her hot weather vacation was all but for about half the duration of her trip.

We've been to Tahiti and the South Pacific in January and the weather was fabulous.

One of The Thanksgiving Cruises  this year is for five nights.  This definitely attracts extended families that have limited vacation time and children’s school schedules that need to be followed.  Plenty of people take five night cruises, very unkind that you think that  these kind of cruisers affect Celebrity in a negative way.

I’m just speaking from experience of a few week long cruises in January that I took on the Summit a couple of winters ago, there were a lot more young party people on board than on the longer cruises.  I almost felt like I was on Carnival.

My apologies if I offended anyone.

When we were on the Reflection last spring, it was on a Transatlantic.  I'm wondering if that is why it wasn't offered??  Too many elites, too many days?  We'll be on the Eclipse TA in a few weeks.

We’re on the Eclipse TA as well and certainly hope that the morning elite mimosas are available.   Great way to start the day.

  4. I’m contemplating a short one just to fill in a gap while I’m down south.  I’m hesitant because it’s such a short period and I think I would just get unpacked and then I’d be getting my disembarkation paperwork.

So far the shortest I’ve done is seven days but I much prefer long cruises with B2B compnenets.   I’ve found that with a shorter the cruise, the usual Celebrity demographic is different and not in a positive way.

  5. I had booked a sailing on the edge with a TA I had previously used and had been happy with.   He left the company and then the ones taking over my reservation were awful.   Wouldn’t return emails or phone calls.   I contacted Celebrity and was given an email address to send all of my booking information to.  They reviewed the information and after several weeks, the reservation was taken away from the TA and given back to me.

  6. I got the same offer but thanks to Celebrity’s wonderful website when I try to go into my cruise planner it just circles to Celebrity’s main page and then my reservations. Can’t for the life of me get into my planner. When I then try to go into check in for my reservation to see if I can perhaps do it that way it says it’s locked out to protect my privacy.

  7. We had friends stay on when they had to disembark but we were on the B2B.

We lounged by the pool but there were no venues open to get a drink or snack until 11:30 other than tea, coffee or water.

This wasn't available at the end of our second cruise. I believe the reason was because we had to clear US immigration. We also had some Norwalk on the cruise and they were sanitizing the entire ship so that may have also eliminated the extended stay.

  8. We rig up a clothesline on our balcony and bring plenty of clothes pegs.

A few weeks ago when we were on the Infinity there was someone who's balcony was covered with clotheslines with clothes drying everyday we were in port. Looked awful. I've never seen anything like it.

I usually hang small things that I've washed out onto a hanger and put it in one end of the closet with the door open. Dries fairly quickly. Bathing suits usually just get hooked onto the hook on the inside of the bathroom door.

  9. Would it be possible that these on board booking benefits are in addition to the LCV benefits. It sounds sort of similar to the perks program you would receive on Celebrity for booking on board but then you also receive your Captains Club benefit.

I'm sure they're doing this to attract first time cruisers to rebook while on board.

  10. You can sign up for online email price alerts

This isn't the easiest thing to do lol. For some reason no matter how many times I've signed me or my husband up, in the last year I haven't been able to receive an email from Celebrity.

  11. We did around the horn a few years ago on the Infinity and loved it. Make sure you pack clothes that can be layered as it was hot in Buenos Aires and Uruguay but once we got down to Ushuaia it was snowing.

We did an excursion of white water rafting in Chile and it was amazing. The scenery and view of the volcano was breathtaking.

  12. No problem. :)

So, just so I understand. Are you saying your daughter and her partner can dine with you in Luminae on a free basis or on a pay per meal basis?

I know the latter will be ok on a space availability basis, because currently any suite guest can invite anyone on the ship to Luminae at their cost. But I'm sure I read those in an adjoining room could not dine for free (comments apply to adults only as has previously been debated in the thread).

I'd deffo press your TA for something in writing, perhaps ask them for a guarantee and if you are charged for your guests dining in Luminae that they'll pick up the bill etc. Not sure you that will happen though. :)

Celebrity confirmed this with me that it is complimentary as it's adjoining our suite. If they were in a different cabin it wouldn't qualify. Must be new rules with the new ship. I'll definitely get it in writing before final payment.

Right now it's not top of my agenda as I've got quite a few other cruises in the works before then and I'm trying to sort out my other daughter that sustained a significant injury while flying on united this week. By the time next winter rolls around my daughter may not even be able to sail with us due to her boyfriends job.

  13. I would think that the high prices for the suites are because it's the new Edge with Eden, etc and not because of the few insides that are adjoining to suites which you think will cause so many additional expenses to drive costs up for everyone.

On the deck plan you'll see a few inside cabins that are adjoining to suites. My TA was the one that said the insides would be allowed to have suite access to areas such as Eden, luminae etc. They don't get any other perks so drinks are on their own dime unless it's in the equivalent of Michaels club. I'm assuming Celebrity designed these cabins to be this way to enable it to be a two bedroom suite.

I did call Celebrity Captains Club to ask if my TA gave me correct information and after putting me on hold for a bit she came back and said yes he was correct. I asked her to forward the information to me but she said I would have to go through my TA for that.

  14. When we went to Vietnam, Celebrity provided the visa. The cost was added to our on board account.

We're from Canada so not sure where you're from if it would be the same.

I believe those that stayed off the ship overnight required a different visa.

I'd call your TA or Celebrity to double check.

  15. I wish I'd get emails again. I've signed up repeatedly online, requested paper versions of brochures by mail and also called LCV (who told me to sign myself up online even after I told him I'd tried several times without luck) who eventually after a strong request supposedly signed me up again but no luck...no emails...no news.

Maybe they're trying to tell me they don't want my business but luckily I had a friend who convinced me to try Azamara.
