  1. I read 1 page. Some of you are horrible. Thank you OP for taking the time for doing this for everyone.

    Just horrible!

I agree. I held off until I was reasonably sure she's not going to continue because she asked us to wait until she was done. If others had only waited we all could have seen her complete review and then left and let the sharks close in since they are obviously known to circle these environs.

It's Op's decision to continue or not and I understand. Thanks for the effort you put in to inform us.:)

  2. They keep getting bigger but I wonder how long it would take to load the lifeboats on the inevitable Abomination of the Seas? But I'm sure they've calculated that the (almost certain) extra income over many years will more than make up for the damages from a (relatively unlikely) catastrophic loss.

  3. We homeschooled and gave them the time off. It was educational in its own way and our son spent a fair amount of time in the library. The flexibility of homeschooling is great and you can always make up time later if you feel they need it. Chances are you're using time more efficiently the rest of the year anyway.

  4. We were A214-as far forward as you can be on port side, deck 12. Had little movement for that far forward. Only crew cabins forward of us. Yes it was warm in the morning on the Caribbean to Pacific transit but presumably less warm than starboard was in the afternoon. We had no balconies in front of us so had an easy view forward. We had a better view of most sights including the rail line, river mouth into the lake, new lock construction on the Gatun end, Noriega's very Big House and Panama City. But still it's nice to move around the ship a bit.

  5. I like the tea time on ships I've been on. Partly since I would avoid afternoon sun.

Several post above address milk before or after etc. I haven't read them all. My daughter I just noticed has 4 different loose teas on the go at present. Never bags. She has a strainer, and has sometimes used those silver ball things. So with her knowlege I thought I'd pick her brain a bit. She says in England it's partly a class thing: upper puts milk in last, tends not to use sugar. Lower puts it in first and uses sugar. Milk, never cream.

  6. Is $11/day enough? I don't think so. This amount of tip would be about right for just one meal (not including drinks) at an equivalent restaurant where I live. In a NY or London restaurant the tip for an equivalent meal would be $15-20 because the prices are higher. So the tip doesn't do much to take care of the people who provide the other 2 meals a day or for your steward. Esp if the meals are taken in the main dining room. At King's Court, less so because there is more self service.

To the people who say 'We paid a lot and don't have exta.', 'we're on a long cruise and it adds up.' or my personal fav 'the economy is tough'. I would say if you can afford a trip then you can afford to tip. Otherwise you're downloading your costs onto someone who has much less than yourself.

Maybe next time I'll think of a way to bring it up to these service folks and find out what they figure is fair. In my usual diplomatic fashion.;)
