  1. When do they normally update the app information like having dinning times that reflect the days that you are at sea and in port.

we go onto the Silhouette on Thursday and the app is still showing that Luminae is open for lunch on day 2 when we are in Key West. I have changed over the cruises (we are doing b2b) to make sure that they have updated but the information is still wrong.

They were doing status match, but not sure I've seen mention of it as of late.  I don't remember reading anything on what that status gave you.

I thought YC was equivalent to Retreat Status and only available by type of room book, but I have Zero knowledge of YC

MSC do a status match. Before we did our cruise in 2019 I think the matched Elite and plus to Diamomd level but that had changed to gold level, the one below black, when we cruised. I doesn’t give much at whatever level you are at.

What is more important is that you get 5% discount if you are a Voyager club member even if you have not cruised with them before so you have to join that before you book the first cruise although we did get the discount added after the booking. Here is a link to the benefits.

I'm sailing YC for the first time next month, but IMO you missed three of the biggest features missing from Retreat on Equinox:

    - Dedicated YC pool

    - Dedicated YC buffet

    - YC restaurant open on port days

I would add that the YC lounge looks like it blows any Retreat Lounge out of the water AND has nightly entertainment AND has a true bar that you can sit at if you want to. I'm also looking forward to a true ship within a ship concept where the staterooms are within the YC enclave, not in general population like Retreat.

Having been in the Suite experience since it was introduced and having also travelled in the YC in a RS, I can confirm that the YC lounge certainly beats the Retreat hands down. You have a proper bar and enough staff to serve drinks to whoever want one, or more. There is continuing changing entertainment throughout the night which we found enough for what we were looking for. The pool deck does have a buffet with hot and cold offerings although we didn’t try this as in the Med we found the food covered in wasps etc but as long as you watch what you are taking it should be ok.

We have 3 MSC YC cruises booked for 2015 in the Caribbean which will be a slightly different experience as they will not be doing the continuos daily disembark and embarkation at every port.

They also apparently had 2x more applicants for Ascent than they had open positions so I'm not sure the staffing  troubles that persisted in 2021/2022 are really in play today.

That is only for one ship. The rest will no doubt go to the Beyond which will probably be the next in line, then the Apex, then Edge. It will be at least April before they start on the S Class……

They took them all away at the same time? I get piloting an idea on one ship but it seems like a way to upset consumers. “Hey you got a butler but I didn’t!”

The butlers that were removed were either sacked or moved on to other duties so they no longer have enough to go round so they will bring them back on the newest ship first, the Ascent, and then introduce them to the others as they find butlers.

Can anyone presently in a SS on Silhouette say if or when Butler service will return for SS?  Curious because I'll be sailing on February 26 in a SS on Silhouette.

Looks highly unlikely. They will do the Edge ships first in all probability.

In December (2023), I was notified on the  2nd, which was a Saturday, at 3:32pm that my bid was unsuccessful. This was 2 days prior to sailing.

I suspect that the unsuccessful emails are automated for two days before the cruise.

I have a bid in a similar scenario to your second one. Our cruise is in April, now just waiting to see and checking emails regularly!

We leave for the US a week on Monday!

now quite reconciled that we are unlikely to hear until just before the second cruise. No longer bothered either way. The SS is fine for us and if we stay there we have loads of surplus cash to do everything we as t on the cruise. We may use the obc we have for us rather using it for offspring.

I've read a lot of posts regarding the Move Up program.  Last March, I made a Move Up bid on my Apex cruise.  I went from an IV to a Sky Suite.  I learned of my move up approx. 1 week before sailing.

This March, I'm sailing on the Ascent.  I received an email about placing a Move Up bid back in December.  I was able to bid on every suite category from Sky Suite up to and including an Edge Villa.  I was booked in an IV.  I received an email yesterday that my bid was successful on a Celebrity suite, 30 days prior to sailing.

There really is no rhyme or reason to the awarding of bids based on my experience.

The process is run by a company who specialise in maximising cruise revenue so all the decisions made are on that basis rather than having any logic to the beneficiaries.

We are on two b2b cruises this month on the Silhouette. We had. A Corner SS, same one for each cruise, then I submitted some bids. We are now in a Horizon suite on deck 7 at the front for the 4 day cruise and have heard nothing about the bids on the second cruise. There are only 2 RS left.

We are either in our original SS cabin or a RS but on the basis that Celebrity want close to £20k or $25k for 10 days it is worth their while not determining the bids until the last minute in case someone with deep pockets decides they want a cruise next week.

Which is why I’ve been wondering if the MoveUp from Aqua Class to the Retreat on an unrefurbished ship is worth it. Would it just be a slightly larger room, complete with a bath, and access to Michael’s Club that would be the only differences? (Not counting Luminae as a difference because of already getting access to Blu.)

The room is at least 50% bigger than an AQ cabin, bathroom has a bath but we would prefer a proper shower. Balcony is also 50% bigger. No more waiting for someone to clear the end of the bed so you can go toted other side of the room. That is worth it alone!

Celebrity’s MoveUp Q&A shows the following:

Can I modify or cancel my offer after I submit it?

You may modify or cancel your offer up until 2 days prior to departure, provided that your offer has not already been accepted by Celebrity Cruises and provided your credit card has not been charged.

If the above is still accurate, why do all, but one of my MoveUp bids show “Expired” and the one that is still “Pending” can not be modified or cancelled?  The cruise’s departure is not until mid-April over two months away.  This bid has neither been accepted nor has my credit card been charged.  The fact that my one pending bid can’t be modified or that my other bids can’t also be modified seems to violate Celebrity’s above statement.

Am I misinterpreting the rules of this program?

    I

Usually when this happens the pending bid has been successful.

They have done similar on E-Class ships.   They have a sail away party on the Retreat Deck.       Also  Summit -  even though they had the helipad open for the Fjords of Greenland they had a event at Retreat Sun Deck with Officers,  Hot Chocolate and Hot Toddies.     Lots of blankets.

Thanks, That is good to know for the future. At the moment we have only done one Edge cruise, the rest have been on S Class but suspect we will have to make the change in the future as our favourite ships get redeployed.

  13. On Silhouette, on our last cruise they ran a couple of events on the Retreat sun deck, rather than the Helipad which we enjoyed better than any of the helipad ones.

Done the helipad a good number of times but have got to the stage where we don’t bother if invited.

  14. We have done a fair number of Celebrity Cruises which have visited St Lucia. I would say that the vast majority have berthed at Port Seraphine.

i think over all the years we have only been at the other dock once.and from a review of my photos that was on a Princess Cruise in 2011. No doubt something will happen and we will be ar the other Pier.

Just did B2B Apex to Reflection in FLL.  Was terminal 25 to 28 (think it was) and guest services/concierge was able to accommodate this and it was complimentary.  There were 3 other 'rooms' that were doing this as well.  It wasn't the most seamless.

We were told all arranged, get off (the Apex) with the last disembarking number which I believe was 48 or something and grab our luggage from this area upon leaving.  Then to go to the transfer busses, the one identified as going to FLL Airport. This confused us but we were told it would be dropped off along it's route to the airport ... perfect.  Where it was a little annoying was when we got to the bus area we are asked our names and the guy looks at his 'transfer list' and none of us are on it. Another guy came over (seemed to be more the organizer of all the bus transfers) and no matter how we all explained what we were told he was adamite that this was not how it worked.  This went on for way longer than it should have but we finally got on a bus  (which said to Miami LOL) and were taken on our way.

So definitely go to guest services but if it were me doing this again I would ask for something in writing or something that can be proof of the arrangement.

At least it was not just us that got the run around once we left the ship! Doesn’t make the experience any more enjoyable though.
