If you would like copies I can e-mai them to you."

     

    My wife and I will be sailing on the Spirit soon. Could you please e-mail the wine information mentioned above to me. Any thoughts on the Spirit would also be appreciated. Thank you.

  2. That reminds me I asked John Delaney if Seabourn might offer another Champagne other than the Nicco Gutrotaitte, he said that would be a good idea to be able to offer two house Champagnes and perhaps a rose would be appropriate.

     

    Thank you for doing this. The last time we were on board, there was no house rose. The lowest price rose on the premium wine list was $100. It was not very good for the price point.

  3. I'm really tired of reading what a gentleman would do. A gentleman is kind, considerate of other peoples' feelings, well mannered and polite. If he's wearing casual clothes while acting as above it makes no difference.

     

    Spot on !!!

     

    I have met a good deal of interesting people on cruises but can not for the life of me remember what they were were wearing.

  4. Niels and Connie - I really enjoyed their lounge music on my last Seabourn cruise. Multi-talented people, approachable and bright. Are they still on Seabourn - and if so, where?

     

     

    The last time we talked to them, they were seriously considering leaving Seabourn to spend more time with their grandchildren.

Perhaps I am naive or just don't understand, but why would couples want to sit at a "hosted table" if the purpose of such tables is to accommodate and make more comfortable those singles cruisers seeking dinner companions and possibly new friends? Is it basically just a "mixers" table, of sorts? I know that many ships feature this seating, but I know very little of it, having always been accompanied on past cruises.

     

     

    Hosted tables of eight are easier on the kitchen and wait staff than four tables of two.

  6. Oh my, does he get things done! Met him in an elevator; he caught a hesitation in my voice when he asked how our cruise was going. It was day 2 and we were having an issue getting the two bottles we wanted. He got on his phone immediately and by the time we got back from dinner there they were.

    Have been lucky to sail with him twice. Awesome guy!!!

     

    On our first Seabourn cruise on the Legend, went to the MDR the first night and our waiter was a fellow named Karl Eckl. The service was so outstanding that we went back every night of the cruise to that station. The next to the last evening, I figured out that he was the Hotel Manager and was training the new servers. As we were leaving, he said that he would not be there for the last night of the cruise but everything would be fine. He was right.

  7. I have been around the wine business over 50 years as a winemaker, grape grower, cellar rat and sales guy. I believe that everyone should drink what they like, be open to trying new wines, and let me enjoy what I like even if you don't care for it. Wine is a wonderful beverage. Cheers to all.

  8. And the champagne is extremely likely to be Nicolas Feuillatte, far from my favourite, but drinkable when raising a glass in celebration.

     

    Nicolas Feuillatte passed away about a month ago (http://www.winespectator.com/webfeature/show/id/50407). He built a very large business. We visited the production facility last year. The tour was very intersting as the facility is huge. Nothing like the houses with caves in many parts of France. The blue label non vintage that Seabourn serves has improved over the last few years.

     

    On our 2013 cruise on the Pride we were able to get a bottle of our current favorite (2002 Taittinger Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne) for $50 cheaper than our local source in California.

I feel it might be helpful (to Seabourn, who I am sure read these comments) for those who thought these Sojourn cruises were so poor - maybe not needing to mention specific names etc. if it was the staff personnel, but to me and I think others it is a bit baffling that quite a few people felt there were real problems - not just the occasional person who automatically hates everything, which we do come across now and then. We have done quite a few trips on Sojourn, although not this year, and always had a really good time.

     

     

    I doubt that anyone at SB spends time reading the cruise critic boards. Without specifics (who,what,when,where) SB management can not take action.

  10. Simplified Dress Code for Evening Attire

     

    We want to let you know that starting in October, the dress code on all Seabourn ships will be simplified to just two standards for evening attire (dress after 6pm).

     

    Simply stated, the two standards for in the evening (after 6pm) are:

     

    Elegant Casual

    This is the dress standard for all dining venues (except during Formal nights in The Restaurant)

    • Men: slacks with a collared dress shirt or sweater; Jacket Optional

    • Ladies: slacks / skirt, blouse, pant suit or dress

     

    Formal nights in The Restaurant

    • Men: Tuxedo, suit or slacks and jacket required

    • Ladies: Evening gown or other formal apparel

     

    Jeans are welcome in all dining venues during the day, but not appropriate in any public venues after 6pm.

     

     

    So, basically the only time-and-place a jacket is required for men is on Formal nights in The Restaurant – and a tie is never required. The schedule of Formal nights stays the same, and if you do not wish to dress formally you can use any of the other dining options.

    Start dates for the new dress code are as follows: 


     

    • Seabourn Legend, October 17 


    • Seabourn Sojourn, October 20 


    • Seabourn Spirit, October 20 


    • Seabourn Odyssey, October 22 


    • Seabourn Quest, October 25

     

    We are sure you will be pleased with this simpler set of standards on your next Seabourn cruise.

  11. We did a cruise on the Pride just before it left the fleet - we were very pleased with the ship, the crew and the service. It went out very strong.

     

    We are going on the Spirit in March for a 14-day St. Maarten to St. Marteen cruise. We are looking forward to doing nothing but enjoying the warm weather.

     

    We sailed on the Legend in 2011 when Karl Eckl was the Hotel Manager - the service was exceptional.
