  1. When we were on the Regal last November we were not allowed to our room until 1:00 pm upon boarding. Then we continued on with a b2b and we still were not allowed to return to our room that we had been occupying for a week until 1:00 pm. Heavy metal doors were closed and we could only go to the atrium or Horizon Court. When we asked if we could go to our room, we were told in not a particularly nice way that we could not.

  2. Does anyone have any comments about this excursion.

Seems many cruise lines offer this tour to the Tierra Mayor Natural Reserve. Includes a 30 bus ride (21km northeast of town) followed by a 2 hour trek starting at the Refugio Nunatak

    Thanks in advance.

We are also signed up for this tour with Princess. Has anyone taken this tour and what were your impressions?

  3. Thank you Northern Aurora for your thoughts and experiences on the penguin tours. It gives us alot to think about. I'm not sure why anyone would be upset over someone giving their opinion of a tour because it differs from their experience. Every experience can be different and everyone's expectations are different. Thanks again.

  4. hola Ambelina ... will be interesting to hear Northern Aurora's answer. Why have you chosen the Volunteer Point trip over others in the Falklands ? In PA ... are you visiting Seno Otway or Isla Magdalena ? Why have you chosen PA over Ushuaia for penguin viewing. Thank you for your help.

We chose Volunteer Point because we have heard many good thing about the tour with Patrick Watts and that is why I wondered about Northern Aurora's experiences. We are going to Magdalena Island from Punta Arenas and we are on a tour with our roll call group. Still would like to hear from Northern Aurora.

  5. We did a B2B2B series in South America in 2015. The itinerary included the three port calls mentioned by tncaec, however we were not able to reach Punta Arenas as the port was closed due to e very high winds.

At Port Stanley (Falklands) we did the Patrick Watts tour to Volunteer Point. We had port calls at Ushuaia twice (on legs one and two), and both times used Pira Tours to visit Harberton Ranch. The Pira Tours experiences, both times, were simply excellent and we felt much better than the Volunteer Point experience.

What did you feel was a better experience in Ushuaia over Port Stanley? We are booked with Patrick Watts and also a penguin tour in Punta Arenas.

  6. Months ago i saw a port schedule that had Crown Princess doing the Round UK cruises in 2018.

Haven't seen that one. I will keep checking but March or April is a long time to wait. Wish we could go in 2017 but probably not in the budget next year. Thank you for your responses.

  7. We are looking at a British Isles (12 day) cruise with Princess in the summer of 2017. There is one with a stop in Liverpool and the other has a stop in Kirkwall. We are not sure which to chose and would like advice from those that have been to either or both. Otherwise the itineraries appear to be the same. Also which month would be best: June, July or August? Thank You

  8. Only the aft 2 or 3 cabins can hear slight bass sounds as they are closer to the stage area.

As far forward in that area as you are there should not be any noise from below.

We were in 726 before and had no noise.

One of the most quiet areas on the ship! Very coveted cabins.

Thank you Keith, we feel much better about our choice.

  9. The Vienna classical music concert was great and I am not a classical lover

This is interesting because we had picked 3 tours to book ahead and then take our chances of booking any others on the cruise. We had chosen Rothenburg, the classical music concert in Vienna and the Schoenbrun (sp?) Palace. So it looks like we have made good choices. Any others that were very enjoyable?

Thank you all for your suggestions.

  10. I am not experienced with river cruising. I am taking the Grand European in a few weeks - our 1st river cruise. I've lived in Germany for 10 years thanks to the US Army Lived along the Rhine once and near Wurzburg another. Returning "home" Rothenburg was our favorite Go-To place. If you have not been there, I recommend the optional tour. It is worth the effort.

Buy yourself a Schneeballen or 2 at a Backerei They are only sold in Rothenburg

    YUMMY

Thank you for your reply cruiser02. Rothenburg was definitely one of the tours that we were thinking of. What is a Schneeballen?

  11. We will be on the Grand European cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest this June. Since Viking is now offering prebooking of optional tours, we wondered what are some favorites, not to be missed or don't bother tours. We figured we would book some of the more popular tours ahead and then take our chances with other tours once onboard.

  12. Two different couples that we know went on a Viking River Cruise last year and highly recommended it. I have been reading posts since we booked our Grand European cruise that are not that complimentary of Viking. We are now wondering if we have made a mistake on which line to take. This will be our first river cruise after many ocean cruises. We are hoping for a wonderful trip.

  13. Thanks for all your responses and it clears up my questions. I may check with passenger services at the end of the first voyage to be sure but it sounds like it's not a problem if I have some remaining OBC.

  14. We are taking our first b2b on the Regal in November which was booked as one 14 day cruise. We have alot of OBC and wondered if it would automatically carry over to the second leg or do we need to visit passenger services to make sure? Also wondered if we purchased the wine package, would that carry over to the second leg?

  15. Yes, if it is in your budget, I would do both. Both are good experiences. As is the chef's table. But I think the chef's table may change again due to the new arrangements with that chef whose name I cannot remember. I seem to remember reading he will be involved with the chef's table.

Because you get a fresh flower arrangement you may wish to have the UBD earlier in your cruise to have longer to enjoy it. Mine was good for about 5 days and then needed freshening as the lilies were wilting.

    Whatever your decisions, enjoy.

Thanks! We will definitely try to do the UBD first and if possible also do the winemakers later in the cruise. We hope that they have the Mondavi dinner since we prefer steak.:)

  16. We were surprised recently on the Coral to be invited to the Most Traveled Cocktail Party on our trip in Alaska. We had only 157 days and there were only 41 Elites on board. We went and enjoyed it very much because we will probably not be invited again or at least not for a very long time.:D

  17. Thanks, Budget Queen! I guess we will have to do some thinking about this tour. There are alot of great reviews of this company on Trip Advisor and so that is how we chose it for our flightseeing in Ketchikan.
