  1. also how are the new pool loungers outdoors and in Solarium on Inf?

Cannot speak to the outdoor loungers, but the new ones in the Solarium on our recent Infinity cruise were a definite improvement. The older wooden curved loungers never 'fit' and seemed a bad choice. The new ones are more comfortable IMHO.

    Enjoy!

  2. No they do not. If your balcony is big enough your butler can provide a 2nd lounger if you ask.

We just returned from cruising on the Infinity and had Sky Suite 6145. Nice balcony with two full loungers along with a table and four chairs. Not sure if that is normal for the other Sky Suites or not.

  3. We are Celebrity fans but we just booked a British Isle cruise on the Caribbean Princess on July 2017 because the Celebrity British Isle cruises start from Amsterdam and we feel that a genuine British Isle cruise should include a pre or post cruise stay in London.

I agree with this wholeheartedly... Would like to enjoy the Celebrity Suite Life on this itinerary, but do not understand the allure of beginning/ending in Amsterdam. We too desire London time on either end of the cruise!

  4. Hello,

I'll be on the Celebrity Infinity in November and need Internet access to complete assignments (I'm a finance writer) while on vacation. Have not opted for Internet service on a cruise in years because it was so slow and expensive. I'm wondering how good I can expect the new service to be. Anything those of you who have used it can tell me would be much appreciated. Thank you!

We had great experience using it on a recent Pacific Coastal cruise aboard the Infinity. This was from San Diego to Vancouver, so I am sure the position of the ship probably had something to do with it. It was amazing at how quickly pages loaded... especially if you were used to the previous snail's pace!

  5. If I am in a suite, where do I get the tender tickets? Are they left in my suite even if I do not book an excursion?

    Vivian

On our recent Infinity sailing, you just went to Michael's Club and the concierge would escort you down. There were no tender tickets distributed and the MC concierge and our butler both explained the process. The first time a group of us were escorted to the front of the tender line it was a little awkward because you go past those that were already in the line. Our concierge, Erick, announced us as suite guests to the Celebrity person at the tender door and aboard we went. Those in line heard him, so understood the priority. We never received any negative feedback. Heading back aboard there is no priority... you just line up together.

  6. Does anyone have any recent pictures of this suite on Infinity? I have seen the video for the same cabin on another ship but was hoping for this particular one. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, no photos... but, we just returned from 11 nights in its twin (6146). The suite was in good shape, including the L A R G E bathroom! Not much has changed... there's a small couch and another chair. The balcony has a tarp-type covering, two full-size loungers, and a dining table with four chairs.

  7. Can any PAST Equinox S2 passengers recommend a cabin that is not disturbed by the noise from the above Buffet/staff working area i.e. chairs moving or rolling carts.

We sailed in S2 2115 on an Equinox transatlantic and really enjoyed the cabin and its location. Very convenient to the mid-ship elevators and we liked that we could walk forward on the same deck to the Solarium. We actually liked the overhang over our balcony; heat and really bright sunshine was never an issue.

Concerning any overhead noise issues, we did not encounter any. 2115 is located under the area as you immediately enter the Oceanview Cafe and it is carpeted and quiet. As others mentioned, the further you go back, the more likely you are to hear the moving and scraping. I would think the first three S2s on either side of the Equinox would be about the same.

Hope this helps... Good luck and enjoy your cruise!

  8. You will sacrifice some fun however Celebrity seems to be trying to appeal to a younger group with blaring music in the martini bar. You could not have a conversation.

Our last two cruises have been on M-Class vessels, the Summit and Infinity, and blaring music at the Martini Bar was not a concern. There was definitely a good beat playing, but that did not stop or impede good conversation between bar patrons at all!

  9. Our waiter is Felix and he is GREAT.

Yes! Another vote for Felix and his entire team. We were on the Pacific Coastal Cruise recently and Felix made a tremendous spot even that much better. The Luminae hostess, her name is slipping my mind right now, was also just as charming and accommodating as she could be.

If you happen to remember to, please tell them both hello from Jonathan and Todd. They were true assets to Celebrity!

Thanks and continue to enjoy your sailing!

  10. It was suggested that I try Who's On Board? to answer my question.

Last March/April we were on Solstice and there were many Tribute Bands as entertainment.....Beatles, ABBA, Elton John (excellent!) and Jersey Boys.

Am wondering if this is the route that Celebrity is taking nowadays as far as guest performers on their ships?

Thank you in advance for your info.

We were on the recent Infinity Pacific Coastal Cruise and there were two Tribute Bands: One for the Beatles and another for Elton John. Comments ranged from horrid to good; go figure. Just wanted to share this information.

  11. Although my wife and I have never been in any of the staterooms you mentioned, everything I have read about suggests booking 6145 or 6146. These 2 Sky Suites (S1) are next to the Penthouse Suites (PS) and have the same décor as the PS (including dark paneling like the famous ocean liners of days gone by), are larger then normal S1, and the bathrooms are simply amazing, separate shower, tub and 2 sinks! I have also heard that the service should be nothing less than exceptional since these S1 share the same PS butler, room steward, etc.

We were lucky to book 6145 on the Summit to Bermuda back in 2014... and just had 6146 on the Infinity for its recent Pacific Coastal Cruise. Everything you said in your post is true; it was a tremendous room and definitely the best Sky Suites on the M-Class ships. Service was top notch because both are serviced by the Head Butler!

However, since the PS have a baby grand which is positioned next to the connecting door it could lead to some noise issues...especially if kids are involved. Ones who like to bang the keys!

YES! For our recent Infinity cruise, we had awful tenants in the PS. They were nice enough whenever we saw them on deck and the kids were always well behaved in public, but were pure little spoiled hellions in their room. We were awakened EVERY morning by the kids banging on the piano at just before 7:00 AM. I really wish the cover for the piano keys could be auto-locked or something before 8:00 AM or so. They also screamed at each other at other times and the parents never intervened. We never made an issue of it, because with the exception of the two sea days, we were getting up anyway. We joked about not needing to set an alarm, but we did anyway just to be safe!

  12. Thanks for taking the time to post this. We were also on this cruise, but work has been killer since our return, so I have not written any type of review. I will post my thoughts below...

Embarkation in San Diego went smoothly and we were onboard at about 12:00pm.

We thought the embarkation went smoothly as well. We waited until around Noon to arrive at the port and the only delay was the significant security line. We knew it was peak time, so we did not let it ruin anything... plus, the line was laid out well and it did not really take that long! Once through security, there was no wait for Suite Class and we were quickly aboard.

went straight to Bistro on 5 for a quiet lunch. We were very disappointed to see that the daily specials were gone and our paninis were just OK.

Later in the cruise, we dined at Bistro on Five and there were daily specials. Maybe they just do not offer them on embarkation day?

As soon as we boarded, we went straight to Luminae and our pampering for the next 12 days began. I just cannot say enough good things about the food and service we were provided in that venue. This was our first cruise since Luminae was added for suites... and it and Michael's Club were both great experiences.

All of our port stops went fine but I would not bother getting off the ship in Astoria next time. Nothing to see or do there. San Francisco was crazy busy with an onshore event but we had fun anyways.

Too funny, we actually really enjoyed both Astoria and Nanaimo... neither of which did we have any type of organized tour or plans. Both of these ports were charming and laid back. The Liberty Theatre was open for tours in Astoria and it was a lot of fun to view the renovations and great style in the theatre. Someone previously mentioned the local volunteers and yes, they were superb. They were so friendly and energetic about our ship being in port. I guess you make your own fun at any port, I just didn't want anyone to sell a port short without experiencing it yourself.

We dined in the MDR most nights as well as once in Tuscan and twice in Qsine. We enjoyed the specialties the most.

We stuck to Luminae for all dinners except for a Wine Pairing Dinner in Tuscan Grill which was just fantastic. It clocked in at 3 hours 41 minutes and time certainly flew. I guess that is what happens when the wine/food/company are all fantastic!

We only really ate in the buffet for a light breakfast and it was always good. Excellent eggs benny!

When you're on holiday, Eggs Benedict certainly qualifies as a light breakfast! IMHO.

We did a late lunch one afternoon in the Oceanview Cafe and it was fine; no complaints.

Another star for us was Heston, our assistant waiter in the MDR. He should be a head waiter, everyone loved him.

Felix and his crew in Luminae were outstanding for us! He served us for embarkation lunch and we all bonded well... therefore we requested him going forward, and a window view. A couple of times when it was a pretty departure view outside, we settled into Michael's Club and our concierge, Erick, coordinated our seating in Luminae and advised us when our desired table was ready. Good job all around!

    The Thalassotherapy pool was great.

Yes... it was. I really liked the new furniture in the Solarium. I'm glad those awkwardly curved wooden loungers are history. The news ones were much more comfortable to us.

we enjoyed all of the shows we attended.

We did not make it to all of the shows, but did attend all of the production shows and thought they were good... with the final one being the weak link. Do not recall the name of that particular show, but it was not as good as the previous two.

We only had one truly bad experience on the cruise and that was Siraz, our sommelier. He was rude and spoke down to us.

We lucked out beyond belief with the young lady serving as sommelier in Luminae. She was so sweet and did a good job of pairing the wines with whatever we might be having as a main course. Very attentive and just as nice as can be.

  13. We just returned from 11 nights in Aqua on Infinity. Absolutely no complaints about service, food quality, preparation, or variety. TOP TIER! We have never eaten in Luminae so can't personally comment on that. However, we had friends in a Suite and they ate with us in Blu one night. I asked them for a comparison. They said the food selection in Blu was better than L. They said the menu was more limited and "heavier" in L. They said service in both venues was excellent as well as food quality and preparation. They said L was a bit too quiet for them and liked the lively vibe in Blu. Overall they said they would have no problem eating in Blu on a daily basis but since they book a Suite for the extra room, they feel obligated to eat in L.

For the record, Blu has seating for 100 while L has seating for 50 in the same size room, at least on Infinity.

We just returned from the Pacific Coastal Cruise as well. Sailed in a suite this time and had our first experience with Luminae... and I cannot say enough good things about the overall experience!

When we have previously cruised in suites, prior to the introduction of Luminae, we would generally have breakfast most mornings in Blu and then join travelling companions in the MDR for dinner. On our recent Infinity sailing, we were so impressed with the food AND service in Luninae that we did not even go to Blu for any meal this sailing. In fact, our only deviations were an excellent Wine Pairing Dinner in Tuscan Grill and lunch one day in Bistro on 5 while we were in port.

You could certainly eat heavy, or lighter, if you chose to... the menu is limited, but the quality is high and we never got anything that wasn't very good. A time or two we did supplement selections by requesting MDR items, so it was a good balance.

Truth be told, most people would be very well satisfied with either Blu or Luminae!

  14. But the question was: What if someone booked a non-suite cabin in 2015 and took advantage of an opportunity to spend the difference to move into a suite in 2016? Do they then get the complimentary specialty dining reservations?

We just returned from 11 nights on the Infinity. This policy should not vary from ship-to-ship, but we all know that it does. We initially booked this cruise in 2014 for an aft C1. When our travelling companions could not make the trip work because of a job change, we noticed that Sky Suite 6146 was available and grabbed it; this was in January 2016.

We did not count on any type of specialty restaurant comps since we had originally booked a C1 and only changed to a Sky Suite this year, but sure enough... during our butler's introduction he mentioned the two reservations as a benefit and told us to let him know when we decided to visit the specialty restaurants.

Like someone else mentioned, we were very impressed with everything associated with Luminae, so we never followed up on the specialty restaurants, but did visit Tuscan Grill as part of the wine pairing dinner one evening. That event was awesome and we really enjoyed spending time with the small group that was assembled!

  15. So how many "formal/chic nights" should I expect on a 11 day cruise?

We just returned from an 11 night Pacific Coastal Cruise on the Infinity and we had two of the Evening Chic nights. We dined in Luminae both evenings and everyone looked nice. I did notice someone in a tuxedo, which is fine. As a guy, I noticed what the other males were wearing. Majority were without coats, but were wearing nice-looking shirts. I wore a jacket over a casual shirt with black jeans. The sommelier remarked that I looked 'sharp.' She was a sweetie, so I took the compliment proudly!

I am disappointed with smart casual rather than evening chic.

So glad that a cruise line like Cunard exists for people like you that desire a more formal atmosphere.

Some people looked as if they had just put the lawnmower away and come straight to the table.

I know that you will get a kick out of this, so I must share... we had just returned from a long day on our last Evening Chic night and I was wearing dark gray jeans, a long sleeved t-shirt, with a light windbreaker over it. We were both tired and knew if we went to our cabin to change, we would probably not get back out. We stopped on Deck 4 to consult the posted Luminea menu and were immediately greeted by the excellent hostess. When we told her what we were doing, she insisted that we come right in and have dinner. As usual, it was very, very good... and not an eyelash was batted.

  16. We are aboard the Infinity right now and the service Felix and EVERYONE has provided us has been stellar as has the food! I know people have different opinions/tastes, but between the Luminae menu, the MDR menu, and Blu, I'm surprised you couldn't be accommodated. They've treated us like royalty...

  17. Possibly a real problem on the M class ships. Seems that the Summit and Milli are having great difficulty- wonder if also a problem on the infinity. However, I believe one poster with poor service was on the Eclipse. I do not understand why Celebrity is such a problem and her sister brand Royal isn't.

We are currently aboard the Infinity and the Xcelerate Internet is performing like a breeze. Seriously, folks... it's like almost being at home. We're using iPhones and iPads.

  18. Currently on Infinity in 3118. This is one of former conference room cabins. You can hear every noise coming from the next cabin. Even if a drawers is opened. We have have had to turn trouble report in for leaking tolet and no hot water in the first two days. Next door neighbors have been loud with slamming doors at 1 and two in the morning. I reported that issue to guest services . Regardless of theses problem having a great time.

Also onboard and have a Sky Suite that connects to one of the Penthouses. A full family next door that has several small children and they are loud and fussy... as children can be. Would be nice if the piano would not function before 8am or so! Besides that little issue, everything else has been fantastic.

  19. It has been years since a Celebrity ship has docked near downtown at pier 66. I remember boarding the Celebrity Mercury at pier 66. Pier 66 is home of

Norwegian Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises.

Seattle's cruise terminal at Pier 91 is located at the north end of Seattle's waterfront, just 10 minutes from the city's retail core and famous Space Needle. Smith Cove is home to Carnival, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean International.

We are on this Pacific Coastal Cruise and the Port of Seattle Guide confirms that the Infinity is scheduled to dock at Pier 66... convenient downtown location!

  20. Thanks again for your post.

I have booked this cruise. See you on the Roll Call!

    You are welcome!

I guess I need to join the Roll Call. I have scoped it out a time or two, but have never taken the time to sign up. We pretty much know what we want to do in most ports anyway.

Your screen name looks familiar. Were you booked on the Pacific Coastal a couple of years back that was cancelled because of the propulsion problems the Millennium was experiencing? I am wondering if that is where I remember it from...

  21. The Pacific Coastal cruises have such great ports to offer, that the two 7-night itineraries that are scheduled for next fall are really disappointing, and there is no spring Pacific Coastal next year.

We are sailing the Infinity for 11 nights next Spring from San Diego to Vancouver... departing on May 11th. We have not been notified that it has been cancelled, so there is definitely a Spring Pacific Coastal cruise next year!
