  1. Just booked a suite on Explorer of Seas for Oct. Thinking about reserving a Barefoot Beach cabana thru concierge but wondering.....for those who have, was the cost worth it? Even if only on- the- beach cabanas were left? Thanks in advance

  2. You will get an email from the Concierge about a week before your sail date asking if you want to book a Cabana.

Barefoot Beach Cabanas are $175 and Beach Cabanas at Nellies are $225 for the Hillside & $250 for over the water.

All the perks that come with a GS and above are good. Since I am D+, we get most, not all of them, already.

Thanks for the information. I'm wondering why the cabanas on Nellie Beach are more expensive than those on the suites-only Barefoot Beach. Are their locations nicer (i.e., hilltop and over the water)?

  3. Hi all,

Getting ready to book a Grand Suite on the Explorer of the Seas 9-day Bermuda/Caribbean cruise for Oct. 23 of this year for our 30th anniversary. I've been on EOS twice in the past staying in a junior suite and have a few questions:

    - Is it likely that Oct. 23 will find Bermuda too chilly for snorkeling? I'm assuming that the Caribbean ports will be fine.

    - Would it be too much time lost if we attempted to get to Tobacco Bay with the ship in port from 8am to 4pm? Would we be better off heading to Elbow Beach or Horseshoe Bay?

    - I hear that the EOS just went into dry dock. Anyone know when it's coming out of drydock? Might I be in trouble if dry dock takes longer than originally thought? Also, any information on what specifically is being spruced up during this dry dock?

    - As a suite guest, is it true that one gets access to the cabanas on Labadee? Is there a cost? Do they need to be reserved?

    - Are there any perks past suite guests can share that they've particularly enjoyed?

Thanks to all who take the time to respond.

    Have a great day,

    Kathy

  4. I'm the type of person who gets seasick watching a movie that has a boat being tossed around by rough seas. I was on the Explorer in May and only felt any sort of motion ONE night and after taking one bonine, I was completely fine.

we went out of New York last Nov and it was smooth sailing, we went out of Fort Lauderdale several times during January and twice the water was so rough for a couple of days that my DH actually spent one evening in bed. So I guess you can get rough seas at any time and anywhere. We are going out of Bayonne in Jan 2012 and praying for smooth seas.

Thanks to you both....I kind of figured that....we'll be prepared and ready to see EOS again!

  5. Hi all....my DH and I will be sailing once again on EOS out of Cape Liberty....love this and can't wait, but this is the first time we are not sailing from a FL port. Over the weekend I was talking with a few folks who now have me worried...insisting that the seas are very rough....hurricane or not and that no sea sickness remedies helped them.

DH and I usually start taking Bonine two days before and then into the cruise and I have to say...I enjoy the lull of the ship...even when it's a bit more wavy.

But now these folks have me thinking.....and wanted to hear your experiences. Can it be that bad....and if so, why would so many people cruise from the US eastern ports?
