I hear you BecciBoo. They don’t make it easy for those flying in.
Love the ease of driving down and parking when we do a round trip out of Galveston.

Good info from Sunshine3601. Each terminal will have a pickup/drop off area. Terminal C will be the busiest as it is United’s main terminal. I have seen the desk located in Terminal C baggage claim where you check in for the bus.
Have not yet booked; however, will need to for our Radiance cruise towards the end of April. DH calls Royal , gives our booking number and says he wants to add transportation from IAH to Galveston. Should be about $40.00 pp one way.
We recently had to use the service from the port back to the airport (had to fly to catch the cruise) as our car was there. We requested to be dropped at Terminal C As the bus approached the airport the driver announced which terminal would be first, etc.

We did a 4 night first part of January and they had all shows….Aqua, Ice and Mama Mia.

Is a direct transfer to IAH bootable on board? The only thing I see in the planner now is a trip that includes a stop at NASA but it doesn't mention compatible departure times.Yes, I believe so. Check with Guest Services upon boarding. We booked ours prior but DH says he thinks it is possible.

Hello, sorry to interrupt your cruise but would it be possible to find out what Royal Caribbean is charging per person for the shuttle from the port back to IAH.
Thank you in advance.
We had to use the service in Nov since we were on the repo Adventure from Bayonne. At that time it was $40.00 per person

We took the Royal shuttle to IAH following the Adventure reposition from Bayonne to Galveston. This was in November. As I recall the cost was about $40.00 pp. They are full-size busses but I don’t think there are restrooms.
Hope this helps.

Yes, it is now free. Just off the Allure and used it. Still no “ping” to alert you to a message….but free is good.

LHARTWICK I am glad to hear about the zig-zag ramps at the new terminal. We were the first arrival on 11/10 and only escalators and elevators were available, that I saw. I made a comment to DH that I couldn’t believe they didn’t have ramps (like in the old terminal). I think Galveston is known for the large number of self-assist. Ramps make it easier, faster and safer (no runaway suit cases tumbling down the escalators).

Sadly I must agree with milamber’s account of disembarkation. This was cruise 37 for us and living in Houston a number have involved Galveston. Was so excited for the new Terminal.
I know we were the first arrival (or so we were told) and as such, hiccups are to be expected. HOWEVER, this isn’t Royal’s first rodeo in designing a terminal or disembarking a ship. I shudder to think how things will be for a full Allure arrival. (Guess we’ll find out in January when we sail her)
The luggage area and CBP clearance areas seem to be too compact. Trying to funnel 3 lines of people into 1 to go through the bank lines for clearance was frustrating. We were told there was no facial recognition due to: A: it’s not ready yet and B: we were not a closed loop cruise.
Outside there needs to be a better way-finding method. I felt sorry for the line management folks walking up and down yelling for people going to Hobby Airport to identify themselves.
I guess it’s true what they say ….. sometimes it’s not good to be first! I have high hopes for this new terminal and Royal’s ability to iron out the kinks. I want people to feel good about and be excited to choose Galveston as their cruise port.

Wow, you're on the ball. Do you have any tips for getting cheap cruises?
We have been offered 30% sometimes later in the cruise. It all depends on bookings, of course.
You're right, it does depend on how the restaurants are booking. So far, we have been fortunate. Cheap cruises....don't we all wish! Book early, check back often for price drops!

On each of our cruises we go to the specialty restaurant(s) and ask about a discount. We do this when we first board and other days throughout the cruise. Sometimes they will say they are only offering for the first night and nothing the rest of the time. We thank them for their time, give our name and cabin number and say, "if you find yourself in a position to offer a 50% discount during the cruise, please give us a call". Hasn't failed us yet.

I would vote Millie as well. Aqua is great and Blu is almost like a specialty restaurant each night.

Agree. We had a cabin there on the Millie last year. Was a concern when we booked but turned out to be a non-issue. Would book same cabin again.

I was amused by your initial post - I can't tell if you actually met Jim and Iain from the prior cruise, or if it would have been one of those, out-of-the-blue introductions in the airport, "Excuse me. Aren't you the world-famous Jim and Iain, cruise bloggers extraordinaire?"
Tom & Judy
Spot on! It would have been the "excuse me....."

No, not on your flights....I work at IAH. Thought if I saw you and Iain I would stop to say hello. DH and I were on the TP last year (YVR-NRT) and saw you daily as our walking patterns were similar.
Will enjoy joy your blog as our next adventure isn't until Aug out of CPH.

They made it in 6 minutes early and outbound is ontime. Short walk to their connecting gate.
I work there and walked by the departure gate but did not see Jim.
Happy sailing.

Just off Millennium. Not sure about the individual prices as we did a dining package. Restaurants are Tuscan, Quine and Sushi on 5. Believe Quine will be changing to La Petit Chef.
Ship it will undergo a $100 million refurb in Feb 2019 so not sure if other changes are planned for the restaurants.

Just got off Millennium. Had requested prior to cruise and then mentioned it to our cabin attendant upon boarding....he brought a gallon jug to us within 5 minutes.

Have done so several times but not for a few years. The older I get, the less brave I am! Loads being what they are these days, we now use our miles.
Time of year and how many flight choices is also a factor. If another city looks better than LHR you could always look for a cheap fare on EasyJet....we did that a couple of times.

Each cabin has it's own temperature control.....you can set it to whatever suits you!
Temps in Alaska may not be as cold as you think. We went in late May last year and they were having a mini heat wave....temps in the 70's to low 80's. We were wishing we'd thrown in a few t-shirts!

Pick up is at the Terminal you have indicated you will be arriving in to. For return...ensure you get on the bus going to the terminal you will be departing from. Our recent cruise had them listed as: Heathrow Transfer T5 (indicating the bus would drop off at Terminal 5),etc.

Ours work for both.
Also use for the disembarkation tags….have to do a little trimming to make them shorter, but the work.
