1. I would pay the extra and keep the Caribe balcony. Those balconies are larger and are very nice.

The Riviera deck cabin would be between passenger decks so noise should not be an issue. But for movement IMHO it is better to be mid aft on a lower deck. So it depends on whether ship movement is a potential issue for you.

  2. Glad to here everything is going great!!! I was on the Royal before you. It was a fantastic cruise!!!

As you probably know we missed Princess Cays so we could make it back to Fort Lauderdale in time. So your last port could be impacted by the generator issue. Just making sure you are aware and hope that isn't the case for you. ;)

  3. I am just off the Royal this week. My friends and I want to do this cruise in 2018. I talked to the future cruise consultant and he told me that this cruise is very popular and he thinks Princess will continue this sailing. He was waiting to hear the specifics for the 2017 cruise. There were folks on board the Royal who wanted to book it.

    Let's hope he is right!!!!!:):D.

  4. I am just off the Royal. We arrived on time this morning. We did skip Princess Cays but I was OK with that!! My understanding is that the generator issue will be fixed while the ship is in port today. Not supposed to be any impact on the next sailing.

  5. Tracie,

I have been lurking on your threads for a long time. I have read all of your wonderful reviews and cried when I read your post about your Mom's passing. I am single and am blessed to have both of my parents in my life. They mean the world to me and I travel with them as much as I can. When we cruise there are wheelchairs and scooters involved because they are in their 80's. But I always have a great time with them.

Tomorrow I leave for FLL to board the Royal on Sunday. I am traveling with wonderful dear friends. But there is a part of me that will miss my folks. I can't even begin to imagine how much you miss your Mom. I have always thought of cruising solo so I am reading this thread closely and am very interested in your experience.

It sounds like you are having a great time and I hope the rest of your cruise is wonderful. The Royal may pass the Emerald on Sunday night so wave if you see us! I will wave back!!! :D:D

Can't wait to read your next update!

  6. Enclave can only be booked for the length of your cruise. There are no daily options and it has a separate locked entrance into the pool itself.

Thank you. That is so disappointing! :(:(. Especially when you consider the cost of the treatment. Looks like I will pass on the spa on the Royal.

  7. Like the previous poster I hang on the Princess boards. I came over here to look for posts related to Anthem. All I can say is.........OMG!!! That post from the person onboard was scary! I can not even begin to imagine what the crew and passengers experienced.

I am very happy that everyone is OK. The folks that were on the cruise have great stories they can tell for the rest of their lives about their incredible trip!

  8. OP - the white space probably is some type of crew cart/towel/etc. storage and possibly a crew hallway of stairs. I spent 26 days in a Royal inside on the Baja deck (by white areas, etc.) and had no problem at night. Was never woken up once (only by crashing waves in Ireland sounding like the clanging of a bell). That being said, you may hear something during the day if you're in your cabin. Maybe some cart noise, door, etc. I actually heard, what sounded like someone announcing something over an interior PA system for the crew). But that obviously didn't bother me because I've booked another inside for next year! Hope this helps.

    Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!:D

  9. DUH!! I MEANT B533. My friends are in B531!

Anyone know if this cabin has any noise issues? I am an extremely light sleeper :( and see that the cabin in next to "white space" on the deck plan.

I would appreciate thoughts on this cabin!

    THANK YOU!!!! :D

  10. I want to be retired right now, but they 'need' me. So I negotiated a little side deal. I wouldn't leave quite yet. Unfortunately my sense of duty interferes with my vacation plans now and then. We've cancelled two cruises this year and one next year because of work conflicts, but basically whenever they quit paying me, I'm on a ship and if they try if I get really ticked off, we might just up and leave for 6 months.

That is awesome!!!! Thanks for sharing. :D:D

  11. I was in the audience during the premiere performance for passengers on the Crown's 9/23 sailing! It was exciting to be one of the first people to see the show. It is very well done! One of the most exciting parts of the evening was the fact that I was sitting in front of Stephen Schwartz. He was there to view the production to see if they needed to make any changes and to evaluate how things went. I was able to shake his hand after the performance and tell him how much I enjoyed it. Very exciting!! :D:D

  12.
Wouldn't it be nice if Princess actually put either the Royal or the Regal on the west coast. I mean just think cruising a fairly new ship to one of the old tubs we have to settle with on the left coast.
Agreed!!!!! Send the Majestic here and send the Crown to China!
  13. We are considering a 17 day South American cruise Dec 2016. I have read this will be the Crown's final year. Two questions:

Does the Crown look like it needs to retire? Sure hate to spend 17 on a ship that looks tired.

I am just off the Crown last Saturday. The public areas of the ship look fine. But my cabin looked tired. My cabin's carpet wasn't clean; in fact it had stains. Yuck! And the bed had the normal uncomfortable mattress. My folks were in a suite and they had a new WONDERFUL pillow-top mattress. I was jealous. ;)

We didn't have any issues asking about lunch in the dining room. I asked as we boarded and was immediately told which DR was serving. NICE!!!
