  1. Speaking of ship to airport transfer...

Bob and any others, what would be the earliest departure from Venice that I could safely expect to make? I am in the midst of generating my list of preferred flights in preparation for “deviation day” and my preferred flights tend to have earlier departures. I hope to leave fairly early in the day but don’t want to ask the impossible when I send my request to my TA.

We are using Regent Air and flying out of Venice on Saturday August 4. I requested something between 10-12.am. Nothing worked to get me back to Oklahoma so they booked as shown below

Depart at750am on BA 0599 to London (LHR) Arr 915am

  2. Wow! Your photography was surpurb. The clarity, crispness and angles are the best I have seen on CC. Thanks so much for sharing them.

You have whet my appetite for next summer in the Adriatic. I wish I knew how to post the photos because we will be seeing great sights in Norway on our August Navigator cruise.

Sorry this thread is coming to an end. It was one of the best yet. Hoping you are planning another cruise because I can’t wait to follow. Safe travels home.

    Regards

    Sheila

I concur with everything Bellagio Cruisers said. Thanks so much for your blog, Bob

  3. Our favorite place in Italy is Portofino. You can enjoy it in 3-4 hours including a walk to the top of the mount to the beautiful home there and take a photo from thr yard looking back down on the picturesque harbor of Portofino. You will still have time for a wine and snack and to wander the streets and shops. Did not know about the Belmond Hotel -- we wil go there next July.

So you can take an excursion to a Cinco Terra city/village for 3-4 hours and still be able to enjoy your on tour/walk around Portofino

  4. In the past, there was a way to go onto your reserved cruise and select excursions and then request an email list of all excursions/all ports on your itinerary. Made it much easier to review and select. Now you have to go on and look at one port at a time. And you can only print one port at a time. Not customer friendly. Anyone know of how to get complete list. We select on November 25 for a July 23 voyage

  5. Hi we are on this cruise also, it's our first Regent cruise, we have just been allocated a concierge suite on deck eight has anyone else been lucky enough to stay In one.

Also it includes an illy Espresso Maker, will it make just espresso coffee or any other . Thanks

    Janet

Janet, I hope you enjoy your first Regent cruise as much as we did about 7 years ago. The only negative is that we now want to always cruise on Regent, but it is awesome.

We are also on Deck 8. We will be in 830. Excellent location and I think you will love your suite.

I expect (but do not know) that it makes all kinds of coffee. I have found it easier to just walk down to the coffee Bar/Machine and get coffee for my wife and me and carry it back to our suite with a delicious pastry.

Lots of excellent info on these boards.

  6. Paul Reynolds is signing off for vacation at the end of South America on March 29. Lorraine will be your CD and Massimo will be the GM. Captain is probably Capt. Teo or maybe Capt Serena, but I think she will still be on vacation.

Thanks. We have enjoyed Lorraine in the past. Is Paul Reynolds the CD who left Regent to joing Viking Cruises. If so, I am glad he is back. If not, hope to meet this man.

  7. Just looked at the Regent website and found this information regarding the new menu:

"We are pleased to re-introduce the elegantly enhanced Compass Rose, the largest specialty restaurant across our fleet. Ensuring a tantalizing mix of new and familiar items on every visit, the new lunch and dinner menus offer a vast selection to meet your discerning tastes. Exclusively aboard Seven Seas Voyager[emoji768], and Seven Seas Navigator[emoji768] for lunch, you may choose from a robust list of appetizers and main courses from our specialty restaurants. And across our fleet for dinner you have the unique ability to design your very own entrée from preferred sides, sauces, pastas and main features of beef, poultry and fish. This is in addition to sinfully indulgent desserts made by talented bakers and pastry chefs. With daily changing menus, the refreshed Compass Rose offers more choices than ever before. The new menu will launch aboard Seven Seas Mariner[emoji768] on March 8, 2017."

Looking forward to many lovely meals when we sail on Regent for the first time this August to Alaska on Mariner. Getting very excited! [emoji846]

That is good news. We board the Mariner on March 29!!

  8. I second that, we did the same and it was a nice experience.

Why are you staying at the JW Marriott, although a fine hotel, the location is not very suitable for tourists. I would recommend e.g. the Ritz-Carlton at Jumeirah Beach, or the Habtoor next door. That would give you the possibilities of the beach and 'the Walk'.

That is where Regent is putting us for the one night.

Thanks everyone for your excellent input!

  9. The MW Marriott in Dubai is a lovely hotel, esp if you can obtain a room on a high floor - be sure to visit the amazing lounge on the 37th floor. The breakfast buffet was something not to be missed and I have stayed at some of the best properties in the world and the breakfast at this Marriott was something I have never seen before or after. There is an amazing ice cream bar with fresh waffles that will being a smile to all, kids and adults alike. I can only imagine that the restaurant must be on the same level as the breakfast.

PS if you are a high level member of the Marriott program, you may get an upgrade to one of the club floors - the rooms are bigger than my apartment in NYC and the shower had a window on the world view.

    gnomie :)

    Thanks so much

  10. At the end of our cruise next May we are spending the night in Dubai at the MW Marriott (sp?) Hotel that seems to have a great Restaurant on 68th floor called Prime 68. We are thinking of having dinner there. We want a good meal and good view. Any other suggestions or comments on this restaurant. We know it will be expensive.
