They were definitely enforcing arrival times on 9/25.  We had 12:30, arrived at 12:15 and were let through.  But about 100 folks clustered outside with arrival times more than 30 minutes in the future.  Obviously, I can't say if they will enforce consistently going forward.

Thank you and thanks for the review!!

  2. Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaa did I really just read that they were actually enforcing arrival times on embarkation?  My Sept 4th sailing was a free for all and that terminal building was packed to the gills with people who were over 3 hours early.   If this is true, it will make for a much more enjoyable start to my January cruise on her.

  3. I got married on the Dream last year.   The bride does give a list of names to the coordinator.  Everyone is instructed to be at the port no later than 1030a.  You go to the FTTF/priority area at the port and tell them you are part of the wedding party.  If they havent started to let people into the building yet, they will tell you to step aside and wait as a group.  When they are ready to start, they let your group in.   This is where you go in and get checked in for your cruise.  After security is where you meet the coordinator.  She will then tell you where the wedding party should sit until boarding.  And as others have stated, you will be first to board.  Your boarding pass will not state priority.  If anyone gives you a hard time, just keep stating you are with the wedding party.  Have fun!

  4. My advice would be to wait to board until around 130p.  There should be hardly any lines at that time and your cabin should be ready.

Also, maybe call the special needs phone number for Carnival and see if they can provide an answer specific to the port and who/where to ask at the port for wheel chair assistance.

There is a distinct difference between tipping at the hold'em poker table, where every hand there is a house rake, and tipping at a Blackjack table, in which there is no rake and the tips go into a box.

I'm wondering if all this only applies to the poker games and not the rest of the tables?  That would make a little more sense

^^^^^^^^^^^^^  This makes a whole lot of sense!!

  6. It was an unbelievable time!  The casino hosts were awesome and everything was top notch for us.

I'm very jelly of you going to Hawaii!  I just couldn't fit it in.

Regarding cancellations, just know that it will be refunded to however you paid for it and I believe it can take up to 7-10 days for that refund.  But I felt I'd rather get what I wanted, instead of running into your situation of it being sold out.

Elite cruise- anyone been on a carnival elite cruise? First timer here and I need help!

    (1) When do they contact you about preferences and free shore excursions? The one I want is sold out already and I want to book something for each port but I don’t know what day to leave open.   Roughly 30 days prior to your cruise your casino host will reach out via email.  The best rule to follow is to book all of your excursions and then cancel the one in the port that you choose to go on for free.

    (2) how do they contact you? Phone, email, snail - Email

    (3) airport transportation- we have to fly the night before ( it’s hawaii ) so will they pick up at hotel instead? Or do I have to take a cab back to airport to take advantage of the free ride. And is it a limousine? The pics showed it but I wondered if that was true.   Dont know for sure, but I believe you can be picked up at a hotel on the day of the cruise.  Don't know if its a limo or a nicer private vehicle.

    (4) what choice of liquor do they offer?

Grey goose or just beer/wine?  It was a very nice selection of hard liquor and beer/wine and soda/mixers.

I tried asking these questions to the CPC person. She was nice but had no idea. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ANY AND ALL INFO ON THE ELITE CRUISE 🚢

Hope to see you on Legend April 2019 Hawaii

This is great information! Thanks! I am looking at Carnival out of NOLA because they seem the most affordable. However, one of my friends who often goes on cruises says that Carnival is the worse cruise line to travel on. Based on your review, it doesn't seem that bad and seems worth it. Did you or your sailing guest have any negative experiences throughout the duration of the cruise? I would say that no one that sailed with us had any negative experiences.  We had quite a few first time cruisers who fell in love with cruising.  We have already gone on a couple more with them, all with carnival.

Problems with any other cruise guest or staff? I know that Carnival has a reputation of being a "party" cruise line. I have not found that to be the case in my 41 sea days with Carnival.  Are there rude/obnoxious/drunk people?  Sometimes, but no different than in every day life or on other cruise lines.   You never can predict who you will be sailing with or what their upbringing was like. I would say to book a 7 day cruise instead of the shorter 4/5 day cruises and avoid dates during spring break or holidays, when you tend to have a lot more kids onboard.  Every single staff member went out of their way to smile or say good morning/night and they were cleaning all of the time.  Our room Steward Rodney, was out of this world.

Also, do you think it is doable to do a private event instead of an actually wedding? I'm thinking of renting out an area for a few hours on a non sailing day instead of paying for the ceremony. If you go to carnival.com and all the way on the bottom of the home page, there is a weddings and occasions selection.  Carnival does offer a "vow renewal" type deal but I never looked into it.   I also never looked into booking a private function during the cruise, so you might have to do some digging on that.

We will probably get legally married before and just want to exchange vows in front of our guest and then party it up. Lol

Also, did you take pictures in your wedding dress at any of your stops, and not just on the ship? I wonder how feasible it would be to take wedding pics on my non-wedding day. I did not.  So I am not sure if you would be able to use a ship's photographer off the ship.   Maybe see if you know of any photographer friends and ask them to come along with you.
