  1. Which of the Palm Beach beaches is the least distance from the taxi drop off point? We loved Palm Beach from previous visits and want to spend the day this winter. My husband, with some medical issues, cannot walk far. We would love a nearby bar, chairs & umbrella. Bugaloe sounds perfect; however, on Google Earth, it looks like it is at least a long block walk. Is another bar closer to taxi drop offs? Thank you.

  2. We always seem to have a lot of time to kill at FLL post our cruise exit. We have TSA clearance. Do you think it’s way too risky to book a 9:45 am flight getting off in the first group, and grabbing a porter and cab?

  3. We did the tour without the sled dogs - but you do the sleding where we have lunch - so its the same route - but you would take some time then to go with the dogs. You can spend time with the dogs with or without the sled - it was an excellent tour and we would HIGHLY recommend it - will try and attach the days photos

Great photos! Thanks. Really captures the ride.

  4. I appreciate your trip report. I noted that you took the Tour we are contemplating for next August. Could you tell me about the puppy portion of that tour? Did those riding the sled at the mushers’ place go on a different tour from those just petting the puppies? If you saw the riding folks, what did u think of that experience? Thank you.

  5. With all the rain often experienced on Alaska cruises, did any of you see the need for a waterproof camera pouch for your camera? I am wondering if the rain hurt your camera? I hate messing with a case but wonder if there's a need. Thank you!

  6. I have already contacted an independent company in Victoria for a private carriage ride for our group of 3. We would be required to leave the ship and take a short taxi ride to pick up the carriage. My husband has breathing problems and cannot walk far without stopping. Are the taxis close?

I was wondering how the ship excursion carriage rides (more like a horse-drawn trolley car) work. Do those pick up directly at the pier? Any details would be helpful. Thank you!

  7. While I would love to see the glacier, my husband cannot walk far without resting. From what I have read, endenhall is an uphill climb even just to the visitor center. Is that correct? Also if we elect the 4:30 whale watch would the glacier be accessible at that later time. Many have written that it closed right when they go there and they were quite disappointed!

  8. I, too, am very interested in timing. We will be doing the glacier close-up, small boat tour in the morning and our small ship doesn't return us to port till after 1:30. We have a choice of 3:30 or 4:30 tour in late August and I am wondering if later might mean fewer boats? Or if later means fewer whales? Here's hoping the whales feed heavily all day!

  9. First cruise to Alaska after many Caribbean and Europe treks. In checking wonderful CC port pix and trip reports, I am noting that Solstice always seems to be the last boat in with lengthy dock walking required. Is transpo for travelers needing some assistance readily available like it always is for Caribbean ports? DH cannot walk far without resting and some assistance will clearly be necessary with long docks. He has no trouble with town walking and shipboard but from ship to town will be an issue. Thank you.

  10. DH and I are coming to St. Kitts in early April. After going to the beach through early afternoon, I would like to visit Caribelle Batik. My husband has some mobility issues - can't walk far without resting - and I am wondering if a taxi will be able to drop us off near the shop or does the shop location require walking? We have no desire to visit the gardens at this time - just the shop. I am wondering if such a plan is something he can handle. Thank you!
