  1. We are also booked on this tour at the end of the month. For those of you who have done it before, is there any time for shopping after the tour is over?

We didn't - we got dropped off at the pier with only 1 hour til all aboard. I wanted to be able to shop Phillipsburg, but didn't have time. I think the prices at the pier were very high too! We did go to Rima's but I was really disappointed in what they had - except for Sarongs and bags. No good shirts really at all.

The tour was great though! I'd ask at the beginning to make sure you had time for Phillipsburg. We spent an hour at Maho, well 50 minutes because we found our driver and said we were ready to go. 1 hour there was way too long! We also had 4:30 all aboard, but the NCL ship was 6:00.

  2. Ship - Freedom

    Deck -9

    Stateroom # -9534

    Stateroom Category –Jr Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Port / Forward

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – not totally. Had a strange recurring whistling noise that I assume was due to wind. I could never figure out where it came from. Rattly door with the connecting room. We wedged it with some paper!

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - yes

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – good balcony. View of bridge.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - seemed slightly larger. Room seemed pie shaped and the room seemed slightly larger than our past JS

Was wind a problem? - a little. The aforementioned whistle. Balcony was a bit windy but we had a very windy beginning to our cruise.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - na

Any specific problems with this cabin? - no

Any other comments? - like I mentioned, the living area was slightly larger (we think!) it appeared a bit larger and maybe even pie shaped?

  3. Hi Ladies' date='[/color']

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend...Wanted to post a picture of a dress I just purchased. I actually bought this dress in the Sapphire Blue for our last cruise....I found out that is is now available in purple, so just had to have it!;):)

    So pretty!

You need to have a website with all your dresses on it - so we can go back and look at them without going through this whole thread :) I love all of them!

  4. I'm ready to go and hope to have photos of me, DS's, DD and DH at the end! Ended up leaving a few things, which always makes me feel better. :)

3 purses, a backpack, beach bag, 8 pairs of shoes and too many outfits to count! Lol.

5 people - 8 bags. (But we are taking our own snorkel gear too!)

    See y'all next week.

  5. I bought some St. Patrick's day fridge magnets at the Dollar store. 1) so our kids could tell which room was ours, and not go knocking on someone else's! 2) the day we get off the ship is St. Patty's Day 3) Our last name is Murphey

    :D

If they are stolen - they were $2 in total. No biggie.

  6. Love Charming Charlies! I ended up getting a couple of necklace and earring sets from them to go with the [new] dresses I took on my last cruise. I found that they had lovely nautically-themed items in both orange-coral hues and blue-turquoise hues. They looked perfect with my outfits! :)

My daughter got a great coral collar style necklace - meaning looks like coral, but it's all in gold. And then some gold shells with blue and coral colored shell beads hanging from it! I might have to go back... :) I saw some super cute starfish, sea horse, anchors etc. I will pull out my shirts and see what I can find!

  7. Yesterday was my daughter's turn to get her outfits for the cruise! We went to Forever 21, Aeropostale, Charming Charlie and then Macy's. Got some very great deals for her. At Macy's it was a "One-Day Sale" but as I was checking out she asked "Do you need to have these this weekend?" I replied "No," and she told me that she could pre-sell it to me for an extra 25% off because Wednesday they were having a really big sale. I just couldn't get them until Wednesday! I said Yes of course and now we get to go pick them up - and I figured I'd shop some more to see how good of a sale it really is!

Love the outfits Indiana! I hope to do a photo post when I'm done with mine. Yours always look great and put together!

  8. When my DH and I were renewing our vows a few years ago I had found a dress that I just loved.

We went to the bridal shp and i found the dress and tried it on, meanwhile while I was getting into the dress DH was looking around the store and found another dress.

When i came out of the dressing room he looked at the dress I had on and said "I don't think that will work with the ship." I was absolutely heartbroken. :(

He then handed the sales lady the dress he picked out and asked me to put it on so I did.

It was absolutely beautiful and I fell in love with it!!

When i came out the look on his face said it all! He even had tears in his eyes.

He looked at me and said please take this one. So I did.

We found out later that they had it in my size and that that one was on sale 1/2 off. So with the sale price and the coupon I had at the time I got the most gorgeous dress for $225.00!!

    Gotta love saavy shopping husbands.:D

These are pictures of my dress at the Vow renewal.

    Gerry

Great dress and that is fantastic!!! :)

  9. What are the theme nights and dress code for the Eastern itinerary?

This is what I have based on an old Compass:

    1st: Casual

    2nd: Formal

3rd: Smart Casual and also later 70's Dance Party

4th: Tropical Night (says "Ugly Tropical Shirt" contest in Schooner bar)

    5th: Casual

    6th: Formal

    7th: Casual

I also see that there is a Pirate Parade for the kids on the 4th day.

Can anyone confirm if these are still correct - or even have an Eastern compass to share! Thanks :)

  10. JS 9638 was great :) The hump was a very nice room, although the JS isn't center hump, balcony cabins are.

9640, 9642 are the Port side center hump balconies, 9340, 9342 are the Starboard side center hump balconies. Surrounding them are JS that are also great.

Down on 8, the exact center is 8638 or 8338. I didn't stay there, but Deck 8 also looks very quiet. Deck 9 was great - it's the only deck I've ever stayed on! (Adventure and Freedom)

  11.

Good morning, Dear Readers…my loyal & faithful ones, and the NEW ones! A special welcome to all of the new readers – where the heck have you BEEN??!! We’ve been having so much fun, so I’m glad you found the party – albeit a bit late!

Just thought I'd interject... I read your Freedom review first, because we are headed on Freedom in March. Then, I spent hours and hours reading Serenade when you posted Allure because I just thought I should finish it first! So I've been reading Allure as I got time... and I'm not a late-comer, just a late commenter :) Nothing important to add here, just chiming in :D

  12. Thank you Sinppu and everyone else who commented on what to wear on formal nights in Alaska! I found a really cute formal black dress with 3/4 sleeves that will be perfect and a friend responded to a Face Book post with a lovely long black dress that will pack beautifully (no wrinkling!) that she is letting me borrow.

Now for shoes....ugh! I need arch supports and because of a foot problem, I can't wear heels over 1". I HATE it! No strappy sandals (I haven't found any already made with arch supports) :( I have 4 months to find shoes that will work, so wish me luck! :)

Pashmina - I don't have one of those. Sinppu, were did you buy yours?

    Thanks for the help, ladies!

    ~ Shari

Try a thread here on this forum about wedge shoes - lots of cute choices have been going around there! I too need some silver shoes with a small heel - I have a knee problem and just can't do a teetering heel! I'm still looking - and when I find it I'll post.

  13. My dresses (posted earlier) just didn't work out....

Too tight - and the cute banding around it, doesn't go all the way around. So there is no disguising any lumps or bumps in the back!

TOO BIG!!! (And the color was just a tad too bright for me!) :D So I returned them both to Ross today. Looked at new dresses and all I could find was a navy one similar to the pink one above, 2 sizes smaller. I loved it - I really wanted a navy formal. I needed 1 size smaller, BUT I tried it anyway.

YAY! It fit, it's cute, it's comfy and it's cheap! So I have the dress I wanted, in the color I wanted. I think I'll go more casual on the 2nd formal night and go with some items I already own - dressy capris etc.

Just wanted to share my find (TWO SIZES SMALLER!) and I'll post a pic soon :)

  14. I love wedge shoes! I have three pair that are cork bottoms, this is my first pair with the rope base.

I'm sold on doing color blocking with these shoes instead. I have one pair of khakis, but they are slightly too big :D So I'll end up shopping the days before the cruise for those final items - like capris and short.s

  15. Yes I like both and assume I will just have to use them separately! I just thought it might work :) The dress doesn't have green but the blues look good. That was as big of a picture of that dress I could find until I take a picture of me in it!

The shoes are Naturalizer and I found them on Amazon. $20 they have a navy pair as well. I have plenty of shirts that I believe will match. I almost got plain navy but the stripes were calling my name :) It's gonna be a blue cruise for me!!

No. The Coca-Cola Freestyle machines require the Coca-Cola souvenir cup to operate. Souvenir glassware is excluded from the all inclusive beverage packages.

Thanks!!! This is the best info I have found on here regarding this. It's from a RCI PDF that is located here:

PDF of the information given by Merion Mom Thanks for submitting it - hopefully everyone questions have been answered - mine have!

Two reasons I don't want to do it - still need the soda package to work the freestyle machines. If soda is included, why only soda from the bar? Why not add on $5-$10 for the insulated cup? Also - I just found our bills from our last two cruises. If you add our wine package we still didn't spend the $55/pp plus gratuity a day. Hubby thinks the package will be worth it, but he'll still want to spend more for better wine at dinner. He can get it, and not me because he's booked in a separate room with our boys - so at least we both don't have to get it.
