  1. Thanks to everyone!! I do tend to have seasickness problems, but we were careful to get a midship cabin. Maybe I'll ask my doctor to give some seasick pills too, just as a precaution.

I'm really looking forward to the small ship experience! We've never done anything but anytime dining, so that will be a change for sure. But it will be nice to not get lost or go the wrong end of the ship for a change too! :D

  2. I've had an Ionithermie treatment (they rub you with a seaweed mixture and use a machine to flex your muscles - removes toxins and inches) that was nice, and DH and I did a couples massage for our anniversary a few years ago. Both services were nice, but I think the spa is overpriced (just my opinion) so I don't go very much.

The staff there are very nice and its a very relaxing atmosphere. You will come into the lobby where they have relaxing music playing, water with lemon or tea to drink, and then the person doing your service will bring you to the room or area where its being performed. I've never had a bad experience there.

    Good luck!

  3. Did you check out the deck plans?...and notice that there really is not Piazza on the small ship.

We are talking bit ship vs small ship...lots of differences.

And there are laundry facilities on all Princess ships.

Just a little bit so far. Just looking for people's perspective!

  4. Hi all,

DH and I will be sailing on the Grand in May of 2014 and then the Pacific in January of 2015.

We have only been on the Ruby, Diamond and Coral ships so far, and I was wondering if anyone could talk about the differences between the ones we have been on vs. the ones we are going on? I'm thinking of laundry access, the size of the piazzas, etc. Thanks!! :D

  5. The original poster wasn't speaking derogatorily about any person or age group. OP was recounting her personal experience and how she felt about it. I'm amazed at how quickly others will attempt to "correct" someone for how they felt about a situation they were actually in! Defensive much??

There is a big difference in accidentally bumping someone, hitting them or putting your hands out (onto them) to avoid a collision and "making a path for yourself". Rudeness is rampant these days everywhere, but a cruise ship is usually a great mini-population that you will experience it in. A lot of people feel entitled to do what they want and will find a way to do it whether there is another person in the way or not.

Mistakes and accidents happen but rudeness happens too! People of every race, nationality and age group are guilty of it and the original poster is entitled to her impressions. I've experienced the same on a Royal Caribbean cruise and even more on a Disney Cruise.

Thank you Jen! I was just thinking the same thing. If OP's experiences all related to a certain age group, why is she not allowed to say so? She is not saying she has a problem with the elderly, or that a ping pong ball ruined her vacation. She is saying that people were rude to her and it made her angry. Could their be extenuating circumstances? Absolutely. But all she is saying is that "sorry" and "excuse me" go a long way.

As for hands on stuff talked about earlier, this is different to every person. Some people love personal contact and some DON'T. I'm an only child, and because of that grew up spending a lot of time by myself. A byproduct of that is that I don't really like physical contact from people I don't know. I certainly don't feel like I'm missing anything, and I'm not naive enough to think that when walking through the ship gangway I'm won't occasionally get bumped into to.

IMO, people are being way to hard on OP.

  6. When we first board, I call room service to trade out the mini bar items and also ask that they bring 6 wine glasses. That's a good start and if I just drink in my cabin, I wash the glasses and they are good for an entire cruise. Sometimes. :)

Hey Pia! Just wanted to say hi!! (We met you on the Panama Canal cruise in April) Looks like we are on the Emerald right before you are out of FLL - we have a 1/28 sailing and you have the 2/7. Maybe we can meet for lunch in port before you leave or something. Hope all is well!!

  7. If you are sailing out of Fort Lauderdale, you can have friends and/or family come on board the ship (before it sails, obviously), for about $40 pp. DH and I brought my mom and dad on one and they gave us a great tour of the ship (including the room we would stay in) and a nice meal in one of the dining rooms. It was a great way to start a vacation!
