Anyone else still getting the white screen of death in the health section of the APP?  I'm not sure how I'm suppose to update it 24hr in advance if I can't access it.  It worked a couple weeks ago and hasn't worked since.  I've done the whole deleting of the app, re-loading it, calling the 1-800 number, reported it, etc but it still doesn't work.

I found this on a thread on CC and it worked for me. I was able to get into the green line status immediately after downloading my photo and filling in the required info. Try this out to see if it helps you.

Use the newest phone/tablet you have in the house (e.g. old iPhone 6 and 7s are known to have issues w/ this app).

-- Update your phone/device's latest firmware.

-- Ensure you have the latest update to Medallion Class installed from the Play/Apple Store.

-- Open the Medallion app and just "Sign Out."

-- Now do a restart of your phone/device.

-- Upon restart, open the app but do NOT use your previous username/pw combo.  Instead login by using your cruise confirmation number and a cruiser's birthday.  (Try to use the birthday of a person who was not the primary accountholder you had previously used.)

    -- Go to "Travel Checklist"

-- Scroll to the bottom and touch "Next Step" (i.e. avoid clicking specific circles to fill in missing info).

-- Fill in any missing info/docs for pages the app presents.

    -- Pray.

So that is for  $200 for two people. It is a $15 Uber ride from the port to the Royal Hawaiian and $50 to rent two lounge chairs and an umbrella for the day; so that is $30 round trip + $50 vs $200.

If you got to use the pool at the Royal Hawaiian (Helumoa Playground, not the Malulani Pool), it would be worth it, but otherwise, I'd do it on my own.

Thanks for your advice! However I am one so it is $80 vs $99. Any tips on food at the Mai Tai Bar?

I know excursions like this exist for Mexico cruises, I've done this many times, but I don't ever recall seeing such an excursion on an Oahu port day.

You can easily Uber, taxi or use The Bus to get to Waikiki and there are vendors you can rent lounge chairs and an umbrella from, but you won't get pool privileges and you won't get cocktail service, or food service.

In front of the Moana or Royal Hawaiian would be my first picks in Waikiki, that is where Waikiki Beach is. The Hilton Hawaiian Village would be my third choice. It is in Waikiki, but the beach it sits on is Kahanamoku Beach.

    Thanks,

The cruise line actually offers a day at the beach with transportation to the Royal Hawaiian. I contacted Beach Services there and they said I would be on the beach adjacent to the hotel guest area but I would have to go up to the Mai Tai bar to order but they would pack the food to take back to my chair or I could eat there.

  4. My problem with this app is that it does not load half the time when adding info or trying to reserve dining.  My 9/18 7 day was cancelled so I rebooked 9/25 5 day. The App shows I am cruising from 9/18-9/30. It allows me to get into the dining reservation area but when I try to reserve main room dining it doesn't confirm and for  specialty dining it takes me thru the credit card confirmation page but then it goes to an error page. I go the the Covid contract area check the boxes for acceptance of rules, click accept and it doesn't load. I have booked two later cruises and have the same problem even though it made a dinner reservation for a Nov cruise confirmed it and then the next time I looked it was gone. The only think that worked perfectly was entering my payment information. Great way to piss off customers, make them use something that does not work properly

  5. Saw the topic but did not read the comments. I have been a solo cruiser a few times now. Twice I met a group thru the CC Roll Calls. Some were friends, some were couples and a few like me were solo.

We hit it off online and then at a sail off get together it was better and we then arranged to share a dinner table and shared tips about the ship and excursions. Some went together, some did their own thing but 1 day we met on the Playa in Cabo a day to remember for us all. The Cruise line also hosted a meet and mingle party for us onboard during a sea day.

I suggest for all solo cruisers to go to the Boards on this site and find the Roll Call for your Line-Ship-Date and meet some people. You will not regret it. Crusing Solo alone can be done, but Crusing Solo with new friends can be way more FUN!

Very few, if any, of the major hotels directly on the beach offer this. Access to their pools are tightly regulated and for guests only. The Aston and Hyatt Regency are the only ones that come to mind that are directly on the beach. A bunch of others do as well but they are a block or two back.

All beaches in Hawaii are public so that part isn't a problem, and you can certainly utilize any restaurants at any of the hotels there. The Mai Tai bar at the Royal Hawaiian or the outside bar at the Moana Surfrider are favorites. Not directly on the beach, but the House Without a Key at The Halekulani is wonderful. There are kiosks at most of the hotels that rent umbrellas and chairs. Some, like at the RH, will only let you reserve chairs if you are a guest of the hotel.

If you did want to utilize some of the nicer hotel facilities like at the Royal Hawaiian (which I think is most likely the best overall hotel beach experience you can get on Waikiki) you could also just get the cheapest room they have. We've done that a few times in various places and it's not a bad solution as you have a place to shower and change. You have access to their small secluded pool, but you also get access to the much larger one at the Sheraton next door (but it doesn't work the same in reverse).

In terms of transportation, just hop an Uber. We use them in Honolulu frequently and they are fast and relatively inexpensive. I seriously doubt any of the hotels that actually do have day passes offer shuttles.

  7. Thanks Ash,

I stayed at the Outrigger 15 years ago as part of sales incentive bonus. Loved Dukes and the Yellow Catamaran that sailed from the beach south of there. Went on 3 trips paid for one as the owner comped me after the first sail. Nice guy.

  8. Aloha, I have been to Hawaii many times especially Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. For the first time I'm cruising there with a stop in Ohau.

Now as I have already done a lot of activities in the islands, there is one I have never done, Hang out on Waikiki Beach which is pretty much the epitome of the old Hawaiian vacation. Thus this is what I pretty much want to do while there. Beach chair, Mai Tai, the ocean and a pool.

I'm interested in the Day use of the Beach and Pool at one of the hotels there, basically guest privileges but with transportation from the Cruise Pier 2 to the location and back.

Any and all suggestion are appreciated as to helping me out.

  9. I got an porthole cabin on the 10/20/14 Carnival Inspiration 4 day Baja cruise last week 10/8 for a single rate of $149 plus tax and port fees plus $25 OBC. Regular single or double rate was $279 before. It seems that Carnival is dropping prices just a few weeks out to fill the ships. Keep checking the cruises you like.

  10. I visited a friend who had cabin E704 next to you and I do not remember any obstruction unless you looked forward and then you could barely see a life boat mostly below the window. I think you should be ok.

  11. I started this thread:

but maybe this is a more appropriate place to figure out what hotel is on hotwire for 3 stars, with seven amenities (non smoking, shuttle, breakfast, fitness center, swimming, restaurant, business center, laundry) in the FLL Hollywood Airport area, $62 a night on Dec. 22nd and 100% approval by hotwire customers.

I have been checking hotwire for this date for a few weeks (drug my heels and missed the $59 for the Hyatt Place deal for the same night) and I don't recall seeing this listing until today!

    Any ideas on the hotel?

This hotel is the Holiday Inn Express FLL/Seaport on 1150 W. SR 84.

I booked it on Hotwire 2 weeks ago. There is a complimentary Airport and Port shuttle.
