  1. My family, which consisted of my husband, my daughter, son-in-law, grandson - 15, granddaughters - 11 and 8, recently cruised on MOS in June. We had 3 ocean view rooms on level 5. Daughter and granddaughters had a room with a pull down bed, and SIL and grandson had a room and my husband and I were in the 3rd room. It worked out beautifully. Rooms are small but very manageable. Our rooms were kept clean and towels replaced every day. The kids loved the towel animals, the girls would run from room to room seeing what we each had. The only negative thing about the rooms, was in the hallway the first day, there was an odor that went away once the ship sailed and it really was not that big of a deal. The location of the room was very convenient to dining, specialty coffee :D, shopping, elevators, etc.

My husband and I have been on several cruises and I was concerned because I got caught up in reading too many negative reviews!! This was a first cruise for the family though, and I really wanted it to be fun for them. I was not disappointed. My family loved the cruise and had a great time.

The dining experience was one of my concerns. We are a very relaxed family when it comes to vacations and meals are never a fancy affair. So I was not sure how they would be with the fine dining concept. They loved it and not once did they want to dine in the Windjammer for dinner. They tried new things and loved the special treatment they received. We had huge smiles every night!! The food was excellent and the service was too.

We did a sail and snorkel excursion while in Nassau. They had never snorkeled. We had a great time, weather was beautiful. We walked around Nassau a bit and did some shopping.

Coco Cay - what can I say? I love Coco Cay! My grandson took to snorkeling and found a huge conk shell, he brought it out just long enough to get a few photos and took it back to the sea where it belonged. I had an unfortunate incident just shortly after arriving on the island - I went to one of the little buildings with my youngest granddaughter to get her a mat to float on and the foundation of the building was crumbling and I stumbled over a rock and stubbed my foot into the foundation and ripped my toenail off. The people there quickly took me to the medical clinic and the doctor and nurse there fixed me up, gave me a beach wheelchair and I spent the rest of the day on a lounge chair under a palm tree enjoying the island. Since it was an accident, there was no medical charge. Once back on the ship, I was contacted to see how I was doing and they removed the charge for the drink package. Overall, they treated me very well and I can't complain.

Our sea day was our first day of sailing, I would like to reverse that and have it our last day, but that's just me.

We had a great cruise and I would do it again in a heart beat. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews - I know she is an old ship, but I think she is aging gracefully!

  2. I have a similar situation. I have booked 3 rooms and linked all 3 at time of booking. I recently did the checkin for all 3 rooms and parties. I wanted to use one credit card (mine) for our room, and use my husbands credit card for the other 2 rooms. I checked the option to include others on the credit card but it would not let me choose any of the rooms and all set sail passes came out as a cash account. I called customer service and they were able to set up our room with my credit card, and able to set up 1 other room with my husbands credit card, but they could not get the 3rd room on any credit card. So it is currently a cash account. The customer service rep said we would have to have it changed when we check in. I really hope we don't have any issues!!

Anyone have any suggestions or experience like this?

  3. I just went through this exact same thing yesterday!! The customer service rep I spoke with had no ideal what I was talking about. I then noticed that it was the exact amount of what we had purchased through the cruise planner and told her that information. I then had her check my excursions to make sure they were still booked, which they were.

At least I know I have company with this same situation!!!

  4. Thanks so much. I am really excited about this cruise!! Our very first cruise was for our 25th anniversary on Monarch of the Seas, also out of San Juan. We have been on Enchantment, Freedom, Holland America and going on Majesty this summer.

I do love the comfort and ease of cruising.

  5. We just booked our 45th anniversary cruise for 2018. We will be doing the southern Caribbean out of San Juan on Freedom. This will be our 3rd time on this ship, we do love the Freedom but I was hoping for a have different ship to sail on, but this is how it fell.

We booked a room on the 8th level in one of the bump out balcony rooms. What are the good/bad opinions of this location?

Thank so much for your replies.

  6. I took advantage of the sale and booked a cabana at Coco Key for a June cruise on Majesty of the Seas. I would love to see any photos of cabana's. Also, please provide me with information about the location of them - good or bad. The only photo I have seen shows the beach has been lined with large rocks - is that the case? If so, how far away is the beach. We have one teen and 2 children who will really want to be in the water snorkeling and swimming and I am really hoping we will be able to relax while still keeping an eye on them. Thanks so much for the responses!

    Really excited.

  7. My family will be cruising this summer on Majesty of Seas out of Port Canaveral and I am looking into hotels and parking for our 2 cars. I am about to drown on the internet with all the options. I was originally looking for a hotel/park and cruise package, but will also be looking at just hotel and parking in a lot somewhere. Reading reviews is also pretty mixed, some people waiting for hours for the shuttle! I am also trying to be cost conscience.

    Please share your recommendations.

    Thank you!!

  8. Thanks for the help.

I forgot to mention that 2 rooms are booked, dad and son in one room, mom and girls are in room next door. Would that mean they would need to bring $500 or if they are "special" $300 per room. Also, would this cash be left at guest relations desk once onboard, or at the check-in? I really don't see them spending that amount, we have prepaid gratuities and also for an excursion in Bahamas.

We are on Majesty for a 4 day cruise this June.

  9. I am paying for a cruise for my family, my daughter and her husband and their 3 kids (15,11 and 8) and this is their first cruise. They are responsible for all the extra spending they do. We have always had a credit card to apply to our account while cruising and did not need to worry too much about the balance since we kept a close eye on our spending, but they are pretty much a cash only family and will not have a credit card to apply to the account. So I want to know how does a cash account work, do they still need to have a credit card tied to the account? Also, with a teen on board, is there a way to keep his spending to a limit.

Or should I just let them use my credit card (do not really want to do this)?

    Any information is appreciated.

    Thanks.

  10. Looking forward to our stop at Coco Cay on our upcoming cruise this summer. First cruise for my daughter, son-in-law and grandkids! The grandkids love the beach and anything to do with water. I was wondering about purchasing inexpensive blowup floats for the kids to enjoy. And also snorkeling equipment. My question is, is that allowed?

    Thank you for responding.

  11. My husband and I have been on a few RC cruises, Freedom (2x) Enchantment (2x) and our very first cruise was on Monarch. We have also been on 2 Holland America ships. We are taking my daughter and son-in-law and our 3 grandchildren (boy-15, girls 11 and 8) on the Majesty this summer, this will be their first cruise.

I know Majesty is an older and smaller ship and I am prepared for that and hoping to not be disappointed. With this being the families first cruise, I believe they will enjoy it, and our enjoyment will be watching them.

We will be on a 4 day cruise. My questions:

    1. Will there be plenty for the kids to occupy them? Does the new kids pool have age limits?

    2. I will be looking for a hotel/park package with a shuttle to the port, any suggestions.

    3. What is the condition of the ship?

    4. Best excursion while in Nassau that kids will enjoy. They are all 3 excellent swimmers, so I expect we will need to find something involving the water.

Last, but not least, please reassure me that this older lady will be better than what I have read!!

Any positive feedback will be GREATLY appreciated.
