  1. Which of these would you do as just a relaxing day? Our ship arrives at 11am so Blue Lagoon seems to be out.
  2. How is this location versus Margaritaville? Margaritaville's beach bothers me its not that big and right at walkway.
  3. Really want to avoid the beaches that have all the vendors and people trying to sell stuff...
  4. Our ship comes into port at 11am. With that being said - what options should I look at for either a good beach to chill on or maybe a reputable ATV tour?
  5. Last year in Nassau we did a deal where we took a boat about an hour into Blue Lagoon, and while we enjoyed our day here the boat ride was about an hour, packed and just no to that again....what is another Nassau idea that doesn't involve an hour ride? Something nice, or just a beach to chill on?
  6. Which flight would you pick? Its about an hour from port back to Sanford - park rental car, check in....10am seems pushing it you think? Didnt want to wait til 3:30 but guess I have to now that I am typing this out...lol
  7. Would you expect a ton of kids regardless here in the next week or 2nd week of Feb?
  8. I agree with all of what you said. We are childless couple by choice. The only difference in what you said is that I do hate kids.....LOL kidding....maybe...
  9. When you say traditional European cruise do you mean different than say RC or Carnival?
  10. So let me just get this out there right off the top....my fiance and I are 40 and 41 right wingers....however, we are open minded and people of other cultures, race, gender, etc do not bother us nor does your sexual preference. I know VV seems more edgy and I feel like this will need to be known, LOL. So with that being said on top of that we have only ever done Carnival and Royal. Last year we had the worst cruise ever but here we are giving it a go again. So I almost booked Yacht Club - its 4 nights (yes that is the only time to work with right now because of work - a shorter cruise) and goes to ocean cay and nassau. Yacht club seems great for us to separate from all the crowds and have some more private amenities. The next choice is the 5 night VV - which goes to better ports like DR and Cozumel etc. However this is just in a standard terrace or maybe XL terrace room. VV seems very untraditional so not sure we would like that. Need some help! Which do you do?
  11. We are booking a balcony Deluxe suite not the grand, for those who asked.
  12. Thanks for the help! I just noticed that we were looking at different dates and itenerieries...both go to Nassau but one stays in Ocean cay til 11pm the other stays over night. The one that leaves at 11pm stays in Nassau longer. Just wondering opinions on that? Ive never stayed at a port overnight.
  13. Looking at booking YC on Seashore for a cruise that leaves in about 10 days. Choices are 16 or 18th floor, and middle or more aft toward the restaurants, lounges, etc or pool area. Which would you pick?
  14. Still trying to get some insight on this cruise. Having only done Carnival and Royal before I am not sure about MSC? I have read a lot of bad!
  15. Still having a little PTSD from our cruise last year, lol. We came off of that cruise the sickest we have ever been in our life. Something we picked up on the cruise and rarely get sick otherwise. 😞
  16. Thought of that but he doesnt have a passport and might be pushing it to get one by Feb
  17. Indy - Well we got sick 2nd to last day. Turned out it was Flu and sickest we have ever been. So this of course made us hold a grudge. On top of that...ship seemed worn, room was rough and not clean, food bad, service also bad. Just all that just made it the worst cruise I have ever done and my fiance' first cruise and a bad way to start.
  18. So we have been looking at cruises on a few lines - RC, Carnival, Virgin and MSC. One that fits the time we can take off for a 4 night cruise is in Feb on MSC Seashore. I see pretty horrible reviews on this ship and after a pretty bad experience last March on RC Independence I am not looking for a repeat. The thing is - I can get a suite basically any of the Aurea suites for the cost of a basic balcony room on all the rest so this peaked my interest. So curious what others might think...? Thank you all in advance.
  19. My fiancé and I are coming up with an idea for a 4 night vacay for Feb 2024 that we have time off for...yes kind of last minute for some but this is how we roll because we never know when we can be away from work for sure... So a little back info here...last March we went on a cruise...my 9th and his 1st...well, we had a horrible time and left that cruise hating cruises. We got sick the 2nd to last night of the cruise, got home to find out (went to Dr) we had Flu type A (worst flu strain) and were the sickest we have been for over a week and bad cough, etc for a month after. However, yes of course we would hate it because we got so sick so considering giving it all another go again. Also have considered going with a land vacay...like Miami, Ft Lauderdale - we have been here before several times. Places where I consider it warmer this time of year but we have never been is Siesta Key, Sanibel - anywhere south Florida basically I would be open to. With this being said what would you guys do or recommend?
  20. For whomever said how did we know it was the flu!? We went to the doctor immediately after getting home the next morning. They test for flu just like covid and it was flu A.
  21. Guess I am in the minority here. And yes I would have felt the same if I had paid 400 or 4000.
  22. So my fiancé and I just went on Indy out of Port Canaveral on the March 6 cruise. This would be my 9th cruise and my fiancé's first, but be both our last. I never thought I would feel like about cruising. I use to think it was the best vacation you could possibly do for the money, but no more. We planned this cruise very spur of the moment as we had to miss the one the month before due to getting Covid. With flights, hotel overnight at port, drink package, and everything else that goes into planning a vacation and cruise we were several thousand dollars into this. We were so excited and ready to have a fantastic week of vacation but it was nothing like that and all we got was literally the FLU and an absolute horrible experience and several thousand dollars feels like it was robbed. So here goes because I guess I want to think I am not the only one who feels this way..... 1. Pricing - we had a balcony room and with taxes and all it was almost 2800 dollars given it was booked 2 weeks prior to departure I just think that this first off is a complete rip off given the quality of rooms, size, etc.... 2. Food - our food this trip was the worst I have ever had. We did the main dining, Johnny Rockets, and Buffet. All bland, tasteless, main dining room barely ever had anything on it we liked. NY strip was a sliver of meat, uncharged for lobster now, a cesar salad was a few pieces of lettuce and crouton, desserts were mediocre. 3. Drinks - we paid 800 bucks for a drink package for 4 nights for us both to literally most of the time get some watered down cocktail and at least 2 times I saw bartenders literally put half a shot in my drink and had to ask for more and say something to them. 4. Service - service was just so disappointing. Wait staff acted like they could care less even after giving them good tips the first night, at Johnny Rockets we literally sat one day waiting for food even just some fries for 35 mins...when she brought it she plopped it down and took off like dont bother me. Our room attendant had a major attitude as well and just brought us a card told us his name and took off again like dont bother me. Absolutely nothing like it use to be like you were treated like a king and queen...that is over. 5. Room - our room was filthy - someone had popped apparently a confetti popper prior to us getting there by previous guests and it was still all over the floor, on desk, balcony everywhere. Room attendant came and half way cleaned up after we pointed it out. Our sheets has ripped spots and ragged worn spots in so many places along with just looking like they had been through it for way too long. Our bathroom had mildew spots in places and just looked run down. Def not a room worth 2700 bucks! 6. Entertainment - lame...our comedian - so lame, the ice show just looked like a D rated high school performance honestly, karaoke was just a bunch of kids singing, never saw a live band on the ship when we were out and about, and missed Grease so couldnt tell you much about that..... 7. Excursions (blue lagoon and coco cay) - I was so excited about Blue Lagoon but it was just a huge disappointment..an almost hour boat ride on a hot smelly boat to go to a tiny island with just mediocre beach with tons of raging kids everywhere?! Coco I wanted to enjoy but was beginning of the end for us due to getting sick 8. CROWDS - OMG I have been on ships 3x the size of this one like Harmony and Symphony and never seen crowds like this one....everywhere a line or crowd, or being herded like cattle into and out of places. Never a chair for all the chair savers, so just move their crap out of the way for them to come back and give you a dirty look. Never a spot in a hot tub. Being herded into and out of areas for shore excursions. 9. WE GOT THE FLU ON SHIP - Our morning getting off at Coco Cay we both brought up how we both felt unusually tired. So we instantly thought could we have Covid again ( we had just had it 3 weeks prior) and thought surely not. We are both healthy 40 year olds. We had done plenty of WASHY WASHY and hand sanitizing etc. We dont touch our faces or bite nails etc. By 12 at Coco we felt awful....tired, achy, miserable....so we go back to ship.....we go back to room, fall asleep....miss all that useful time to enjoy a good beach...we wake up at about 4 to find we are even worse. We know something is wrong....so we stay IN OUR ROOM all evening....no appetite.....got a pizza brought to room and some drinks which we couldnt really stomach. By the next morning the day of departure we were horrible....chills, sore throat all that....it was all we could do to get to airport and get home that day to find out when we got home and to doctor we were flu positive and STILL trying to get over it all today! So there are probably a lot of things I missed in this but in other words I am over cruising....its just not fun and after all we went through on this trip I am done. Just wondering if anyone else feels this way and completely ripped off!? We took a beach trip last August and paid a fraction of the cost including flight, dinners, drinks, activities etc. Wondering others likeminded thoughts.
  23. I really just want a nice beach...a day pass. Baha Mar, Margaritaville.any recommendations on these or others?
