The devil is in the details.  Offering whole Maine lobster is one thing while typical Princess so-so lobster tails is something else.  And there are kinds of different grades of caviar.

The price could be reasonable or a complete rip off.  Also consider that the $300 per couple would likely have 18% tacked on so we are talking $354’per couple.

Yes, it's steep. But if the food quality matches the price point, then it should be very well received.  If not, it will be known rather quickly. People drop that money on the chefs table all the time.

We bid on a Club Class Mini, a Mini Suite and Premium Balcony on the January 7th Crown Princess cruise.  Just received emails that we were overbid on the Mini and Club Class Mini but the Balcony is still pending.

The odd thing is that both emails said I could go back in and change my bid but when I click the link or log in, I cannot make changes and both Mini's are showing expired.  I tried immediately after receiving the emails.  Is it a done deal once they show expired?  I was hoping to try to change the bids.

If 2 show expired and 1 is still pending, it's usually the case that the pending one has been accepted.  Be on the lookout for the acceptance email in the next few hours.

I think it must have opened sometime between 10:00 and 11:00 AM.  We always went to go see Leo Rossi’s shows in the theater and would stop by to grab a morning drink before we went in.  We also had our cruise critic meet and greet in there and it was open for that, as well.

Leo Rossi is a Princess national treasure.  We had the very bad luck of offering Leo and his wife who was travelling with him for the holiday our table in Loreto,MX while we were trying to leave and the restaurant was overwhelmed.   Then while trying to get our check, a server dumped a whole tray of food down my husbands back.  We excused ourselves at that point,  but I'm fairly certain they never got food or drinks, and will never forgive us for inviting them to the table.

Aw that's a shame, will miss the Retreat bar. Hopefully not too many children on a repositioning cruise.

Very few children on a repo cruise.  And the conservatory is usually pretty peaceful even with kids using the pool as it is 2 separate spaces.  There is a bar located in the pool zone.

Southwest will still be their competition from west coast so not a monopoly (as well as all the other majors).

Honestly, I don’t remember one airline merger the Feds didn’t allow to happen (and there has been so many).

People valued HA because of the direct flights offered.  Southwest cannot offer direct flights from Seattle.

  6. Alaska has been fighting for marketshare from Seattle to Hawaii for a very long time.  At times discounting flights to 99.00 one way.  Most recently to 149 each way.   This would give them a monopoly from the west coast.
Whether they would keep the HA product is laughable.  Did they keep the Virgin product?
This is what the Feds will look at when deciding whether to let this sale go or not.

HA took over Aloha Airlines which was my fav...I get a perverse pleasure in them getting bought by Alaska...lol.

However, don't get me wrong, I found HA to be a fine airline. I like to travel with Alaska (though not as much as I used to...) so it's kind of a win-win...

Will my post be the last on this doomed thread??

Nope because I don't see the feds allowing this.  Alaska barely manages its own business.  They can't go all 48 Contiguous states and manage this.

I don’t remember seeing hot chocolate dispensers on Princess. My dad would bring the Nestle hot chocolate packets with him on every cruise because you had to pay for hot chocolate at the International Cafe.

You're correct.  I edited my post once I remembered that it was in packets to add hot water to.  The packets were available in the buffet.

Wait, so there are ice dispensers in the buffet?

There are coffee dispensers, hot water dispensers, juice dispensers at breakfast, flavored water dispensers after breakfast, and ice and water dispensers all day. And hot chocolate packets and tea bags.  Princess makes sure we're well hydrated.

Just wondering if we're allowed to bring things like powdered hot chocolate, coffee and stuff like that onboard, and what are the limits of it? Also, a pretty dumb question, but this seems to mean a lot to my daughter - is there free ice in the buffet?

You can bring all of that, but the buffet provides free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.  And ice is not only readily available in the buffet, but at any bar onboard. And your room steward will also happily fill your ice bucket in your room twice daily.  They only ask that you don't directly fill your own container from the dispensers in the buffet, but use their cups to dispense, then dump into your own container.

What are the rules for bringing canned non-alcoholic drinks onboard a princess cruise? My daughter is interested in bringing cans of sprite. How big and how many cans can we bring per person? Also, I know there is a corkage fee for opening a bottle of wine in the main dining room, there isn't anything for non-alcoholic drinks, right? We've been on many cruises but we've always bought the drink package or just not cared about having any drinks, so this is our first time considering bringing some.

You can carry on 1 12 pack of canned soda 12 oz per person.  Must be carried on and not passed to porters and cannot be bottles.  You can carry on 1 bottle of wine per person over 21 corkage free for consumption in stateroom.  Any additional bottles require a corkage fee. These additional bottles may be consumed anywhere on the ship.

The food is free, but I'm not sure that delivery is free. Hence the initial post.

I find it highly doubtful that there is a delivery fee for the Sanctuary Menu items. It could be that if you order Ocean Now delivery on the app for delivery to the Sanctuary there might be an automatic charge that populates if you don't have the Plus or Premier Package.  But that can probably be circumvented by asking one of the staff to order whichever menu item you wish to eat.

I've read that there's a $3.00 charge for food delivery in the Sanctuary. Is that per item or for the entire delivery (if you order multiple items)?

Is there a charge for drink deliveries (we have the Plus Package)?

Isn't the Sanctuary menu included as part of the cost of booking a lounge or cabana?  I distinctly remember that as part of the perks.
