  1. I have tried repeatedly to send in confirmation of my CCL shares by faxing to 206-270-6080. Over and over all I get is a message saying “NO FAX ANSWERED”. Then a print out telling me the same thing.

Like I said, I am new to HAL, but not a new cruiser. Never had this problem before on the Princess fax line. Maybe there is a different #?

Can someone please help with some suggestions before I run out of ink?

  2. Wow :( I never meant to offend you, honestly if you read my question I was just asking about if they partner like parties, not saying I don’t want to sit with parties that aren’t alike

I don’t think your question was offensive in any way. I think neverbeenthere’s comment was just humour.

  3. Amazed at people who carry on their own cans of soda and then openly take them into restaurants and have the cheek to ask for glass/ice just to save $2.

OR maybe they prefer a type/brand of sofa that is not available on the ship.

OR maybe they don’t want to have to wait for the server to have time to walk all the way to the bar.

I have even stopped at the bar en route to the dining room, picked up my soda or Perrier, and headed with it to the dining room. I don’t like waiting until all the orders are taken, and sometimes partway into my meal to have my drink. And sometimes I bring my own can or bottle. Never seems to be a problem with the staff.

  4. As a non drinker, and free minibar recipient who trades for non alcohol beverages or coffee cards, the 3 for free sounds like the best bet for me.

Does anyone remember, if it does in fact get offered this fall, will it be for cruises starting in the fall or is it usually on the next year’s booking?

  5. HAL cruisers have been threatening mutiny over their new web-site....

Looking into our possible first HAL cruise.

Their web-site and even customer service... well.... they are BAD!!!!!

Don't complain about occasional issues on Princess too awfully quickly!

I just booked a short four day getaway with a friend to try out HAL for the first time. The attitude of the booking agent had me imagining her stretched out, her feet propped up, and chewing her gum, lol. Verrrrry chilled out manner.

As for the website, omg! Everything takes so long due to selecting, then backing out, then adding the next component, over and over. And so hard to find anything.

Princess is a piece of cake in comparison.

  6. Write the company a letter with a possible exchange solution.

Talk with the Captain’s Circle person while on ship with alternatives they might offer to replace the perks. Their power is limited, but they have been helpful for us in the past.

We tried talking to the Captain’s Circle hostess a few years ago about a substitute for the wine tasting. She looked barely interested, if at all. A “too bad, so sad, yawn” attitude.

  7. As a non drinking Elite couple I am hoping that they will offer an alternative to the usual 2 coffee cards. Hahaha, I know! DH loves his brewed coffee, not me and I find the specialty coffees so filling.

We already miss out on another Elite perk by being non drinkers - wine tasting.

  8. I understand They pick you and your luggage up at the ship, you tour for a while then deliver you to the airport.

I am new to HAL and find the website very confusing so thought I would turn to the experts here with my questions.

    - did you think it was worth the cost? +/- $70 I believe ($140/couple)

    - what time did you get dropped of at the airport?

    - did you have any time at each stop to have a good look or was it mostly a quick drive on the bus with the odd photo op stop

    - can you arrange once on the ship or is there a chance of being filled up if not booked ahead?

    Thanks for any insight.

  9. Gee, I thought it was just me getting older and cranky, lol. One cruise there was an entertainer, and I use that term loosely, who was so loud and obnoxious we couldn’t believe it. If someone was near the back trying to have a quiet conversation he would stop the show to yell out to them. One poor fellow was seated at a round table with his back partially to the piano and this “crooner” made him turn his chair to directly face him. Unfortunately for us our cabin was right above the venue and we could hear every shout and hammering he did on that piano. We did put in a complaint more than once and it the volume was reduced minimally.

As for relaxing around the pool during the day, quit doing that a long time ago due to the loudness from those giant speakers.

I scratch my head wondering what is trying to be accomplished by all the racket all day and night?

  10. I have first hand experience with this on Princess. A couple of years ago we had a transatlantic cruise booked. A few weeks before I had some major dental issues with my lower back teeth and planned to get implants when the cruise was over. Needless to say, eating would be very difficult.

The advice given to me, and it worked better than I could imagine was to check the Patter as soon as I got on board and find where the maître meets to address any dietary issues that first afternoon.

He then passes the information on to the head waiter. They will meet you at your table every single night, let you look over the next days menu, and make any adjustments necessary. If nothing is suitable, they will talk to you about your preferences and make you special meals to suit.

My husband was often jealous of what was appearing on my plate each night, lol.

So the waiter served the food to me and the head waiter would pop by to make sure all was as it should be. He seemed delighted when I enjoyed his creations. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and everyone got an extra tip at the end of the cruise. Btw, we were in an obstructed ocean view cabin and are non drinkers so not big spenders but that had no influence on the way I was treated.

No need to advise in advance of that first day meeting with the maître de.

Enjoy your cruise and congrats on your outcome.
