Viking is "all inclusive" - sort of. Wine and beer served with meals. Any drinks not served at meal time are extra. Bar drinks are always extra. We are wine drinkers, and looking forward to buying wines at different ports. Tours are included at each port; however, there are a couple optional tours that cost extra.
I guess we will use our OBC for laundry. Which is a good thing, because I am really trying to pack just one suitcase.

We have a $200 OBC on Viking. Since everything is included, just wondering what is there to spend it on? Interested in hearing how you spent your OBC. Thanks for any feedback.

What a wonderful review of your trip. We will be on the Thor in May for the Rhine Getaway. I lived in Germany for five years (many years ago) and sadly, I only remember a few phrases. I can still order wine for the table!
Dankeschon!

Lori, please add me to your list. Thanks so much for sharing. We are on the Rhine Getaway in May! Lived in Germany for 5 years back in the 70-80s and traveled the whole area it by car, train and bus; never by river. We are really getting excited. Angie

Just returned yesterday from our 10 day cruise on Emerald Princess.
We used SILVER MOON catamaran. BEST DAY of the cruise. We were 13 on a cat that holds about 20. We had 3 crew members - Dexter, Elvis and Marlo who treated us like celebrities. There was an open bar - stocked with only the best liquors - Dexter even broke out the blender and made the best pina colada I have ever had. We swam with the turtles and snorkeled. Then the crew brought out a delicious lunch. BEST DAY of the Cruise.

Emily, you have time to work, spend time with your hubby and still do all this amazing journaling -- you are an amazing woman!
Question: I know you used the do it yourself laundry, but did the ship offer a "laundry special" where you could get everything cleaned that you could stuff in a bag for a special price?
Finishing your travel log is like reading the final chapter of a good book.

Emily, you are such a talented writer -- "where are you sailing to, France?", made me laugh out loud. We are sailing on the Caribbean Princess on 13 August. Love, love, love your travel log. Thanks for all the great info.

Great thread. I'm one of those people who always tries to read the jacket cover of the person across the isle on a plane or at the next lounge chair by the pool. I volunteer at a local library once a week and these are the books I always recommend:
Nelson DeMille: Lions Game, Charm School (this is one of DeMille's earlier books)
Vince Flynn: Term Limits
These books are based on whats happening in the world today -- terrorist, intercircles of Federal/State government, CIA and PDs. Although written as fiction, some of it seems all too true.
A totally different kind of book I recommend is the Yada Yada Prayer Group books. Everyone who reads them, tells me they relate to the main character in the books.
I also loved the "Left Behind" series.
