  1. There will not be a shuttle bus since, Florence is 93 km (@1.5 hrs driving time) from Livorno. You will need to take a paid ships tour bus or paid private transportation (e,g,. cab or private care). Check with guest relations or the tour desk on the ship for transportation options.

  2. When the Captain's navigation announcement came on, was the in-cabin TV turned on and tuned to the Navigation channel (which also plays music)? If yes, then that is the reason for the announcement to be heard in the cabin.  The other speakers in the cabin are used exclusively for "emergency" announcements from the captain (e.g., fire, fire drills, crew emergency drills, medical emergency, weather emergency, etc.).  The navigation announcement can also be heard throughout the ship thru the address system in the public areas of the ship, including speakers in the cabin hallways. if your cabin door is open, even slightly, the announcement will be heard in the cabin.

  3. Is your mother going to be on a cruise ship for the 30 days? If yes, you or your mother should call the cruise line's "Special Needs Dept." to find out if they can offer some solution.  Maybe a small portable freezer unit for the cabin or maybe the ship's medical center can store the supply and have the required dosages deliver on a scheduled basis.

  4. I've been on 20 cruises since I had my pacemaker installed in 2016.  Like you do at the airport, just tell the security people at the ship's scanning entrance that you have a pacemaker and they will "pat you down" or use a scanning wand when you enter. It's a simple process.

  5. Crew/staff members will always and gladly accept any currency from almost any country which has an established exchange rate. It should be noted that crew members are prohibited from keeping all but a very small amount of cash on their person or in their cabin. Each crew member has a “bank account” with the ship’s onboard bank/purser’s office into which they deposit any cash received (e.g., gratuities) or withdraw any “local” cash needed for in-port activities (e.g., on-shore meals, cab fares, etc.).  At the end of every shift or when they return from onshore “liberty”, each crew member must deposit the cash they have on them with the purser’s office in the crew area. The necessary currency conversion is performed by the purser’ office.

  8. Most bars on the S–class ships will have snifters and Remy;but the following bars will certainly have it every night: Ensemble Lounge(deck 5 near the specialty restaurants), Passport Bar (deck 3 mid-ship), Sunset Bar (deck 15 outside aft), and the SkyObservation Lounge (deck 14 forward).

  9. Expect port changes on all cruise lines on almost a daily basis between now and the end of the year. My wife and I are traveling on Celebrity Silhouette over Thanksgiving and the itinerary has changed 4 times in the past 5 days. We expect more changes over the next 2 months. It is what it is!
