We are a family of five wanting to sail in two connecting balcony rooms and take advantage of two separate promotions. In order to make this work, both adults need to be in one room while the children are in the other... they will be ages 14, 12 and 11 at sailing time. As far as I can tell from NCL's cruise contract this is permitted. In the past, we've done two connecting balconies on the Breakaway but had an adult listed in each cabin as it made no price difference but this time it is a savings of about $1000 to do all the boys in their own cabin. Has anyone sailed with children in a separate room where the kids were on the booking in their own room?

We will be sailing somewhere along the east coast heading to the Caribbean from NYC. Glad to see I'm not the only one who has purchased glasses!

Thanks, very helpful. As long as we can walk to some of the sites and the neighbourhood is a good one then we'll be happy. We will have a vehicle which we will eventually park at the pier.
Does anyone has recommendations for sites and dining for a family? We've visited before and done the traditional tour of Statue of Liberty, Top of the Rock and The September 11 Memorial.

Thinking of staying here pre-cruise for two nights, thoughts on hotel and location for family of five with three tween boys?

We sailed a few years back in one with five of us, 2 Adults and 3 preschoolers. It was very comfortable for our family and large. The balcony had a lounger and was huge. The sofa stayed set up as a bed the entire time which had us spending less time in the room than we would have had it been put away but we would certainly book one of these cabins again.

I can't say whether it is worth it or not as our upcoming sailing is the first we will try it. We purchased it based on a couple of things that may help someone else decide as well...
- we arrive early at the port as we like to be among the first on the ship
- we have quite a bit of carry on luggage as my oldest son is a Type 1 Diabetic so it will be nice to be rid of those bags upon embarkation
- on our last cruise we visited Guest Services often for various needs ($ on Sail on Sign for kids, lost items, etc...) and the lines were long. We had tried to purchase FTTF for that cruise but it was unavailable so every time we stood in the long line we would lament that we "could have" been in the much shorter line if only we had FTTF.
- security is always an issue with my Type 1 Diabetic's medical devices so a shorter line there might make it less stressful

We're from Maryland and figured out that driving and parking at the pier was only slightly more expensive than the other options and way more convenient. We were also able to use a coupon floating around cc that knocked the price down to $210 for the week.
Do you have a link to this coupon?
I'm wondering if our family of five driving from Ontario can find a cheaper way to get to the port than driving and parking there? Any thoughts?

Thank you. My plan is to head to straight to the excursion desk upon boarding. We should be among the some of the earliest to board if things go as planned. :)

We booked our upcoming cruise a bit late in the game. We have always purchased a cabana at HMC but everything is sold out this time. I'm wondering if they offer all the cabanas online prior to sailing or do they hold some back for once you are onboard? Probably wishful thinking on my part!

Thank you for all the responses. I won't accept any nonsense from the boys but I feel that its important to lay out your expectations ahead of time. However kids are still kids and I don't expect perfection.
I'm perturbed about the post being moved, I wasn't looking for suggestions from other parents but from cruisers in general. Even better if they don't have kids and have experienced awful behaviour from children, it will help me better prepare my kids.

I'm trying to prepare our three boys for our upcoming cruise, they are veteran cruisers however given their ages (9,10 and 12) they will have a bit more freedom than our previous cruises. I've covered topics like elevator etiquette, running on board, being aware of your surroundings, remembering your manners, etc... They know that they will lose privileges should they misbehave. I'm just looking for more ideas of what to go over with them? Generally they are well-behaved, polite boys.

I saw a review of the 4J cabins recently and the room looked so spacious and convenient that I took note to look into for a future cruise. I was disappointed to find out that they won't accommodate 5. I can't understand how they determine which rooms can have trundles and which can't. There is more space in on of these rooms for five people/ a trundle than the standard interior cabin. Sorry for the tangent, just venting.

Can I ask... Was this change made before or after final payment?

I would just have the 6 and 2 year old sleep at opposite ends of the one bed with their feet touching. We have done this many times.

Without transportation, I'd stay on Disney property for two days. Lots to do for free and free transportation all over WDW property.

Never mind, I finally found it! :)

Someone shared a link here with details of each cabin on the ships and ship info. I thought I had bookmarked the site but can't find it now. I did a search and can't find it. Does anyone know the link I'm talking about?
Thanks

We'd love to surprise our boys, ages 9, 10 and 12 with a limo ride to the cruise. We'll be staying at an MCO area hotel the night before the cruise. Any idea of the costs and the best company to use?

We are a family of five and it will be about an extra $80 for Early Bird one way for us with the state of the Canadian dollar. I'm afraid we'll need to take our chances with checking in online when we can. Hopefully the kids can sit near us. Thankfully we have no problem sitting at the back of plane.

we have either had to attend a 6am onboard customs meeting on the morning of disembarkation or followed the same routine as U.S. Citizens on some sailings. I can't put my finger on what the difference was for the different procedures.

The $500 more price was from the agency you mentioned, I have a personal interest in booking with them but they couldn't even come close to the price. I did a lot of searching online before I found the pricing that I did. I suspect that it was a group pricing deal as the sailing before/ after were over $2000 more.
You won't be able to beat NCL rates if you booked a while ago in Canadian. We have one sailing on NCL booked for December that I hope we can do as we locked it in at $1.12.

I'm afraid I don't have the exchange rates. I quoted through Carnival directly and it was $2400 US, we paid $2850 CAD. I tried another Canadian agency and they couldn't touch that price, their price was $500 higher.

I booked recently with a Canadian agency in Canadian dollars. It was an incredible rate for our family of five for an 8 night sailing on the Sunshine. I liked how I could use their online search for real time pricing in Canadian funds.

Experience with children in a separate room?

I looked and couldn't find anything stating this on the NCL site. I read their cruise contract which states minors must be in a connecting stateroom or adjacent stateroom. Which was why I was confused when they declined allowing us to do this. It is the difference between us staying in our family oceanview vs booking 2 balcony cabins which is fine but it would have been nice to have the extra bathroom and privacy of two rooms.
