We are sailing with Celebrity - does anyone know of good excursions to take besides the ship ones?
Thanks!
Thanks for the information about Reef Magic - just what we wanted! Is there anything like this at Airlie Beach?
-
Hi,
On our Royal Carribean cruise in April, we can visit the Great Barrier Reef at two stops, either Airlie Beach or Cairns. Both are 7 hour excursions. Airlie Beach is $229 and Cairns is $259.
For anyone that has been, which would you choose?
Thanks
Angela

We are enjoying your review since we will be on this cruise in January 2018 with a little different itinerary but we have already booked some of the things you are doing.
Thanks for posting!

Any ideas what the weather will be like in November for Australia and NZ?

Fun video! Thanks for posting it!

It is cheaper for us to fly home from JFK after docking at Cape Liberty. We will be on the RC Anthem - do they have a transfer for this? If not, any ideas about how to get there - our flight wouldn't be until mid to late afternoon.
-
We just want to use JFK from Cape Liberty for the flight home on a Saturday. Would there be less traffic that day? The earliest flight we would book would be 3:30 PM. I need to find which form of transportation to take then. I don't know if RCCL does a transfer.

It sounds like right now, my only choices are HAL and Princess, so we'll probably stick with Princess, since that is where we have had our best experiences.
.
Norwegian Cruise line also does the PC cruises - might be a nice combination between HAL and Princess.
The Caribbean Princess is sailing through the new locks next season for sure.

Hi: We r also not sure about the Solistice Australia/New Zealand cruise. I know there r several cruise only itineraries. We just also discovered that Celebrity has a subagency under them called Enrichment Journeys. They do part Australia with hotels, tours, etc and then onto the Solistice for the New Zealand part. Have u heard of this? anyone? we might do this. Expensive, but sees alot in 23 days.
Doesn't seem anymore expensive than a tour to Australia. I like there is land and sea and nice to have the ship for meals on the NZ portion.
Has anyone done an Enrichment Journey here?

Thanks for the pictures and information - we are doing this cruise next fall!

I could see the ship from my balcony at the Jersey Shore at around 5:30. When I was watching it I thought it was my imagination that it wasn't moving.
It was in view for quite awhile.
Hi Gaylemh -
How far is the "Jersey Shore" from the Bayonne port? We plan to stay in a hotel near the port. Just wondering about going down to the Jersey Shore before our Anthem cruise next fall even though the weather won't be awesome.
-
Thanks for the review. I appreciate people that take time to write about their cruise!
-
Spending time relaxing on the balcony is part of our cruise experience that we really enjoy and especially since this PC cruise will be 15 days I'm sure we will enjoy our time outside. I agree that the cost is more but we are willing to pay the extra because we want the balcony. We shop early for 'deals' too.

How many people can fit in a taxi (van?) from LAX to a San Pedro hotel? There will be 6 of us. Would it be better to use Super Shuttle instead?
-
Is there anything to do near the hotel the evening before the cruise?
How about a place to eat?
-
Our cruise is booked for Oct 12, 2017. Any thoughts on the weather and fall foliage in mid-October?
-
Our PC cruise doesn't stop in Cabo - we go to Puerta Vallarta so that's why we'll have to be watching from the ship as we pass by!
-
Has anyone seen whales off the west coast of Mexico near Cabo while sailing to the Panama Canal in the winter months?
-
We are already booked on Princess for full transit PC in January of 2018 - Coral and Island both do this route. Deals are being offered so we were excited to book so early.

We were very happy with laundry service on Viking and prices were reasonable. Pieces were back in a few hours.

I'm sorry, but I don't remember the name, this was our first river cruise, but I do remember it wasn't far from where the ship docked. It was a very large store on the corner and they had a huge selection of clocks ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Mine was around $450 and I picked a medium sized clock that has a pendulum but is battery operated...another nice feature is the light sensor...once it gets dark in the kitchen, the cuckoo goes to bed! I remember my Dad swearing at the clock when it cuckooed at midnight and he had to get up at 6 a.m. :D
The store closed early the day we were there and I missed going! Should have stopped there first before doing some other running around. Easy to find the store though.

I thought connection was pretty fast but you tend to lose connection when going under bridges or down in the locks. Same happened with the TV though too. I could easily send emails.
I couldn't upload pictures but they mentioned that would be a concern especially if too many tried to do it at once so I don't think they allowed it at all.
I could text iphone to iphone but not to another brand.
Considering where we were sometimes I thought internet wasn't too bad - better than out in the ocean somewhere!
