  1. You'll be completely fine then :) I never go to the speciality restaurants either because £££ and I can get any food I want elsewhere on the ship :)

As this is your first NCL cruise you may find this post of interest: http://cruisingisntjustforoldpeople.co.uk/2016/12/04/8-things-i-wish-i-knew-before-cruising-with-ncl/

Have a fabulous time! I love NCL.

    Thanks for http://cruisingisntjustforoldpeople.co.uk/2016/12/04/8-things-i-wish-i-knew-before-cruising-with-ncl/ link.

Pre-book a show? I have never done that..do i have to book shows for my JEWEL cruise? Does it cost?

  2. Thanks for info folks.. I don't think we would be trying out speciality restaurants as its costs $$ plus none of us drink alcohol ...and 2 of the party members are vegetarians. Me and my dad eat chicken and fish once a while. With these restrictions we would stick to the MDRs.

By the way we are on the JEWEL.

  3. We have been on Carnival and Disney cruises before but never on NCL. We have booked a 7 day Mexican Riviera from L.A. in April.

From my understanding, freestyle cruising is we don't have to provide an early / late dining schedule to NCL and we can do anytime and sit on any table we want in any restaurant. Is my understanding correct?

  4. I assume OP has booked 4 persons in a room, two of those have free DSC as their promo...

6.75 times 2 equals the 13.50 dsc per person.

I have 3 booked in a room and mine reads 4.50 per person.

Thats what it is..First 2 guests have free gratuity and then they divided the total for the remaining 2 guests across all 4.

  5. Our family of 4 has some restrictions ..2 of them are vegetarians and 2 of them eat only chicken in meat and sometimes fish.

We have been on Carnival and Disney before but never on NCL. I am planning a Mexican Riviera on the JEWEL in April and wanted to know if we would have enough choices for each meal.

I understand Indian food is served on NCL which mostly tends to be vegetarian. Any other tips?

  6. Anytime before final payment is due is always a good time to book a cruise. Before final payment, if prices go down or promotions get better, you can always cancel and rebook. So you really can't go wrong. After final payment, you are pretty much locked into what you have already purchased, although you might call then and get a bit of OBC or a slight room upgrade, if one is available. And prices as the cruise approaches are not at all predictable. They generally go up until a short time before the cruise. Then if the cruise is not selling well, there might be some fire sale prices offered. But to do wait, you need the flexibility in your schedule and you may miss what is available now...room selection and promo offers. Just no way to tell. If you are happy with what you see now, then book it.

Thanks for info. If I cancel before the final payment, won't I lose a few $$ as cancellation fees?

  7. So I have been on a few Carnival and Disney cruises ...This would be our first time on NCL. Since we live in L.A and my parents are old (80/70) , I am thinking of doing a Mexican Riviera cruise out of L.A on NCL. We have done the same 7 day cruise on Carnival many years back but want to try NCL now.

With the Norwegian's Free At Sea offers, I am thinking of booking a Outside room for April first week.

At the same time, I read a recent post on how the prices went down drastically after the booked. With some NCL experts here, what pricing trends have you seen on NCL lately? Do prices go down as the sailing date approaches? We won't be buying any insurance so cancelling due to price decrease is out of question.
