I’ll follow along, too. I really enjoy your writing style, humour and sarcasm, as you know 😊 My mum had vascular dementia the last ten years of her life, so I think I know a little bit of the challenges and grief you’re going through with your dad. I’m going on a cruise during the first part of May, too, around the British Isles, with another company than NCL this time (that company’s name is also in my CC name 😉) PS Am I the only person on CC that don’t miss the hash browns? We don’t have them in Norway, and I never eat potatoes for breakfast 😉

A tip for Karlskrona: They have a very interesting marine museum there, where you, amongst a lot of other other things, can go inside a submarine. As for Oslo: You can take the metro train high up to Frognerseteren, from where you’ll have a wonderful view of the city and the Oslofjord (if the weather is ok). And don’t forget to watch as you sail through the very narrow part of the Oslofjord, by Drøbak, there is a fort on the port side when you sail in, Oscarsborg. That’s where they fired the canons toward the German war ship Blucher in 1940, and the huge ship sank in the middle of the fjord there.

Hi @YVRteacher Looking forward to follow along on your Breakaway cruise! Hope it will be a very good one!! Also happy to read that you love your new job 😊 I just came home to Norway yesterday from my music cruise and visit at friends in US. Bon voyage!! -
@YVRteacher It was so lovely to have dinner with you and @TrumpyNor and Hein, both my friend and I enjoyed it very much! A very nice last night of a fantastic cruise. That said, this was my first cruise on the Star, and together with the Epic she is my least favourite of NCL ship so far. I too really miss an observation lounge. And food was a little bit hit or miss, even though we mostly had good/decent meals. I really liked the layout of the pool deck, the terraced decks for sunbeds was nice.

Hi @YVRteacher We arrived safely home last night 😊 Had a little meltdown before we started the busride to airport in Reykjavik, as I forgot my purse with EVERYTHING important in the taxi (passport, phone, cards etc) Luckily the taxi chaffeur found the purse after a little while, and managed to get in touch with us and give it back. Guess who was VERY relieved! So we were able to arrive at the airport in time for our flight to Oslo. We did not go to any museums this time, we strolled, had food, and napped at the hotel. Whale- watching was good, saw mink whales and white-beaked dolphins close to boat, and also puffins, gannets plus more birds. I think I have to come back to Reykjavik and Island another time. 🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸

Unfortunately I must say haven’t seen that cake in many bakeries, it is a typical cake to make at home, for parties, birthdays etc. But you may be lucky in smaller, independant bakeries. I have had that cake several times, homemade mostly, it is soo good (I really have a little to much of a sweet tooth…) It is not the easiest cake to bake, though, so haven’t made it lately.
