  1. Probably a minor issue at best...I went to My celebrity this week and there was a cancelled Connie cruise on my list of cruises (cancelled march of 2015) I have not booked a connie cruise, nor have I cancelled a cruise (recently). Since it is in a cancelled state, I am not concerned but why is it there in the first place?

  2. Tragic situation...we also experienced the "Oscar, Oscar, Oscar" announcement on our Mexican Riviera cruise. This particular instance, a staff member jumped overboard after having words with his supervisor. Life boats, flares were deployed and the ship rumbled to a stop. It was dark out but we could see the search lights and flares from the aft lounge where we were. The Captain was very good about keeping the passengers informed, even telling us the next day that the employee passed during the night. Not an experience one has everyday on vacation...always a sad day when someone loses their hope (as in this case).

  3. Good morning everyone...I have always enjoyed reading reviews of sailings, but have never attempted to write one myself. I know there is a "write a review" section on cruise Critic, but I do not see a place to add attachments, like photos or videos. Do most people use the regular forum to write their reviews? Or, is there a place to add photos in the "write a review" section? I find reviews far more interesting if they are including photos, that is why I am asking. Julie

  4. What a great thread idea...our first cruise was in the year 2000 on Celebrity Mercury. It was DH's idea and I thought...4 days on Carnival. Thank goodness my TA talked me into a 7 day sailing on Celebrity. I was 42 and DH was 52 and I do not think we would have liked theCarnival atmosphere. We also love sitting around and talking about our cruise experiences with our friends who also enjoy sailing. I think everything we did on our first cruise was awesome, so to pick out a memory to share is tough. I think the pomp and circumstance of Formal night is what I loved best...still do....we have formal night rituals, including at home prior to sailing. We pack our formal clothes first, with reverence and champagne toasts. We "prepare for dinner" with wine and apps, then a visit to our fave on board bar, and finally formal portraits...Fun, Fun, Fun!

  5. I will pipe in and say that I have followed along for the entire voyage...DH and I are looking forward to seeing all the same sites at end of March. We will be spending 2 days prior and 3 days after in NOLA. First visit to the city. We are both very excited. We love the Radiance class ships and jumped at the chance to take in a new city. We are bringing some newbies with us...I love to see cruises in the eyes in those who have never sailed before. Thanks for taking the time to review as you went. Enjoyed!
  6. Taxis are also cheap if you are worried about making your reservation just pay the cheap fare and get dropped off right at the door of the restaurant. You will be dressed for dinner (jacket for men) so why cheap out on transport for a rather expensive meal at a wonderful restaurant.

Quite true...I guess we will have to see how the day goes...and how tired we are. Was thinking about taking cab home...can you tell me if they drive by the restaurant frequently or would we need to call the cab company?

  7. When I read this, I had to go look at the itinerary. Now, as best as I can tell, the last day the ship is in NOLA (2/28/17) is the first day of Mardi Gras...not sure how much fun that would be. 'Course, I really do not know much about Mardi Gras or if there is a bunch of stuff going on prior to the 28th but I thought the ship would at least be there in the beginning instead of sailing out at 10pm the first day.

I have been corrected, I guess the 28th is the last day of Mardi Gras

  9. We are staying at Embassy Suites and wish to walk to the St. Charles Street car then taking this same street car to Washington where we will jump off to head to commander's Palace for our 7pm dinner reservation. Can anyone give me an approximate time frame? The dinner is on a Friday night, will the cars be full and not stopping, thereby we have to wait for several?

If we left embassy by 6pm, would we make our reservations on time?

    Thanks in advance...Julie

  10. I need my wife for emotional support (what husband doesn't? ;)). Can I bring her onboard with me for free? I'd be willing to push her around in a buggy, supply her with food, and clean up after her messes.

On a side note, are there dogs that can sense when a slot machine is about to pay out? If so, sign me up!

    My chuckle for the day...thanks.

  11. WOW! Thanks so much..I need to do a little more research it appears. I remember Vancouver as huge and overwhelming...but that was 8 years ago and I have become a little more travel savvy...perhaps it will not be as daunting for us. One of the most spectacular photos we took was a view of the sky line of Vancouver from Stanley Park...the sky scrapers reflected in the water were beautiful. We will be alone (DH and I) and, although we do not like to do alot of walking, we are certainly capable. We love wine and food and Pike Place Market. We love to explore regional crafts and eats. I appreciate the info. Other suggestions certainly welcome.

  12. Yes.

Longer version: there have been consistent 30min - 1 hr delays this year due to track upgrades but those will all be done long before next cruise season starts (I think they're done now, or at least *should* be!)

Not-what-you-asked-but-irresponsible-not-to-offer-unsolicited-advice-on: while Seattle's a great city and well worth a visit, Vancouver is better! So unless you've already spent plenty of time here before and none in Seattle by all means fly into SEA if it saves you $$, but get your butts up here ASAP after you do;-)

We have spent time in Vancouver and will again on this sailing as we are doing a back to back. We really enjoy the vibe in Seattle though. Thanks for the answer on the train question. We have an Amtrak here that actually goes to Seattle (the Empire Builder) and sometimes can be as late as 7-10 hours. I did not want to risk that on a sailing day. Just a quick question...what would we want to do in Vancouver? We did the Ho Ho bus last time...it was ok. Granville Island is something that sounds interesting.
