  1. Helen, sorry to hear you have one of the haunted cabins, but I love the moniker "Beyond Ghost". That is a good way to describe it. You might want to check if they have any empty cabins you can switch to, since we found that cabins right next to each other could be loud or quiet. Maybe if they have an available empty cabin sit in it for a little while as the ship is moving and if it is quiet ask if you can switch.
  2. Thanks everyone for your comments and ideas and feedback. We are back and had a great time. The noises woke us up a few times but were unpredictable. Hopefully someone smarter than me at Celebrity will figure it out. I tried to determine if it was wave height, speed, wind direction, etc. and could not find a pattern other than the rougher seas did seem to make the noise worse. We will continue to sail Celebrity and the Edge class ships (already have an Edge sailing set for June and three future deposits). This experience has not soured us on Celebrity at all. I just wish they could figure it out. We were at 78% capacity so we had the option of switching rooms, which was helpful. I feel like Celebrity would have done anything possible to address our concerns. That kind of customer dedication keeps us coming back, despite some hiccups here and there.
  3. In Grand Cayman today. The noise in our replacement cabin (6216) was very loud last night. 6216 is also a midship IV down the hall from our original cabin. My mom and kids are next door. Their cabin is quiet. Ours is banging. This is at the exact same time! Bizarre. We open the window and the noise stops. But the AC goes off. I turned up the temp to stop the AC to test the HVAC theory. No change. Theory busted. It seems to be the window not closing securely. I jammed some paper where the window closed and it muffled the noise a little. Celebrity has been very concerned and understanding. They gave us an empty cabin on deck 7 to sleep in last night. It was not rough, but the ship was moving at a fast pace. We were also headed east rather than west. Maybe that combined with the wind speed makes a difference? I don't know. I just know sometimes it is loud and sometimes not. It seems to be midship IV cabins that are noisy, but perhaps not exclusively.
  4. We will be in Cozumel tomorrow and it is a short ride over there so I don't anticipate problems tonight. I will report back tomorrow if I learn more.
  5. A quick update as we are about to leave Costa Maya. We noticed that if we opened the balcony window the noise stopped. We then closed it and the noise stopped for a little while but then gradually returned. When we get back I will post a video so you can get a sense of the loudness of the popping noises. Guest relations was very nice and told us they have had to move several guests on our cruise and earlier cruises. They said it is maddening because different cabins are making noises different sailings! They offered to move us and we took them up on the offer. The IV we have now is down the hall. So far we do hear some faint noises but it seems better. We did not have these problems on Edge and Apex. Maybe we just were not unlucky before or maybe there is something about the way Beyond was built. I have no idea, but guest relations is definitely aware of it and is trying to resolve issues. It seems like a sadistic game of Whack-a-Mole ...
  6. We are in 6176. We are leaving Nassau right now so we will see how it is when we get moving. They told us at guest services if we hear noises tonight we should call and someone will come up to hear for themselves. We are at sea tomorrow without wifi so no reports until Wednesday.
  7. We did not ask to move. I don't know if it is cabin specific. Maybe it is just our area (we are just aft of the Magic Carpet on deck 6). I really don't know. I want to see how things are tonight with calmer weather. I am hoping it is quiet the rest of the cruise and we can attribute last night to exceptionally bad weather.
  8. We did speak with guest relations. And let me preface this by saying I feel terrible for complaining and never have complained about cabin noise before nor asked to have our cabin switched. We have been on over 20 different ships, some old some new, in all kinds of weather, and never experienced anything like this before. My wife said last night was the worst night she has had on a cruise ship, and she's had well over 100 nights. Guest relations said they reported to maintenance to better secure the life boats. I am skeptical anything can be done. We'll see what tonight brings. I'll report back.
  9. We are currently on the Beyond. It is our first time on Beyond but we have sailed Edge and Apex and many other ships so we have a lot of comparisons. I realize it has been only one night, and given today is our 23rd wedding anniversary maybe I am a bit sensitive, but it sounded like a construction site in our room last night from the noises our cabin was making. Granted, we were delayed from Port Everglades last night because of weather and the seas were a bit rough. But we have been through much rougher weather before and have never experienced anything like this. My wife was up all night (I am heavier sleeper). It sounded like maybe the lifeboat was knocking against the side of the ship but there was also a lot of creaking. Other people we have spoken with heard similar noises. I don't know if it is our location (IV midship deck 6). We love Celebrity and I hate to think they spent over a billion dollars on this ship and it has a creaking/noise problem that is inherent in the design or build of the ship. I have seen other reviews that have mentioned this problem but the ship is still so new so there are not a lot of reviews. I hope they can get it figured out. Hopefully we can get some sleep tonight as it should be calmer seas but I fear this is going to be a problem all cruise.
  10. Great posts and pictures. Please keep them coming! We will be on Beyond starting on Sunday with two teenagers so your experiences are much appreciated.
  11. No difference between cashing out refundable and non-refundable OBC in the casino. It is all treated the same. Only difference is that if you don't cash it all out, and you have some credit left from your TA, they will send you a check for that amount. If you have non-refundable OBC left at the end you lose it.
  12. It sounds like the Infinity has the old system like on the Eclipse. Infinity is Millennium class so maybe those older ships have the old system and the Solstice class is a mixed bag. Equinox and Silhouette were both dry docked fairly recently, so I think your guess makes sense that they are updating the Solstice class when they are dry docked. If you are right then that would mean Reflection also has the old system. It sounds like a pain having to go to the cashier every time to add money to your card, but at least my dad is already on a first name basis with the cashier!
  13. Anyone have recent experience with the casino on Infinity? My father is on the ship now and is confused about how this works. I told him he can load credit on his card at the slots or video poker machine but he is telling me there is no way to create an account or get money from the machine. He says he has to get a ticket from the cashier, put it in the machine, play, get a cash out ticket, and then take it to the cashier for cash. So two trips to the cashier each time he wants to play. He is already on a first name basis with the cashier, since he plays a fair amount. I told him I can't believe he is unable to put money on his card from a machine, but maybe that is true. We were on the Infinity a while back and I don't remember, but I mainly played table games. Our last three Celebrity cruises were on Edge, Apex, and Equinox and we could get credit to play directly from the machine. Can anyone with experience on Infinity enlighten me? I want to know if I need to apologize to my dad and tell him he is right that you have to go to the cashier to get credit to play, but I am hoping he is wrong ...
