I had to laugh when I read this post, DW and I were just talking with friends regarding this.  We stated that we are probably the only people that bring snacks on board a cruise ship ( they agreed). We normally do not eat desserts but will bring a bag a Dove Chocolate or M&M’s to satisfy a craving, also something salty like pretzels or trail mix that we bring to the pool or on an excursion.  We never had an issue bringing food on board.

I bring bags of chocolates (especially individual sized (or halloween treat sized)).   I eat a few, but offer them to the cabin steward and others as a "tip".   I have found that they just love getting chocolates.

On another note, I have never had any issues bringing opened snacks onboard, just do not bring them ashore.  Many countries consider it to be illegal to do so and will confiscate them and/or fine you for attempting to do so.

I like to bring chocs too! Does anyone know if there are any "pro-biotic" drinks available at breakfast or anywhere...the ones with all the good bugs in that help digestion etc. Or could I bring my own...but they are liquid & I realise that can be a security issue.

It was only a "Tongue in cheek answer"- perhaps you misunderstand the British sense of humour? Surely your lives/ happiness do not really depend on the wearing of thong bathing suits???n

Ooops! Just realised there was a really bad typo in my first reply...I meant to say " public " areas, but the typo said " pubic" areas😱😱😱 That was a Freudian slip😜

    I am having no problems.

U r lucky! Bet u have no problems with this cruise critic site either! I can’t understand why it’s soooo difficult to log in on MSc UK site-all I’m trying to do is click on the same log in as I did before. Yes, I’ve changed my password but it still won’t do anything.. grrr. Good job I’ve got a good t/a who had sent me all the docs & luggage tags. But why oh why can’t I get in -double grrrrrr!🤬🤬

In the coed Thermal Area, is it okay for women and men to wear thong bathing suits?

Depends on your physique I would imagine😱😜Personally I find the sight of large, elderly men in Borat-style mankinis somewhat distressing & no doubt large, elderly women wearing thong bikinis they “can still fit into after 20 years “ is equally so! As a largish elderlyish woman myself 👵🏻 I can only say unless you are almost Baywatch standard, best “keep it covered” in pubic areas please.

  5. Tina- thanks for info, sounds great. We are booked on Meraviglia transatlantic in mid Sept from U.K. to NYC via Reykjavik & then b2b to Quebec early Oct. Brill destinations albeit a bit cooler than our usual Caribbean ones. So we are pleased to hear there’s an indoor pool —just hoping no chair hogs. Will be interested in finding out more about the spa but can’t get on MSc website🤬

  6. Love Illy coffee-great news-and very glad MSC are keeping to the tradition of good Italian coffee, not the awful watery brown stuff (as passed off as “coffee” in places like Starbucks &served up in huge buckets! ) Hate instant coffee, but nice to know there’s a choice. Will still bring my stash of English tea on board though, I never leave home without some😜We have a drinks package with our deal & have upgraded to the deluxe... so that includes alcohol, all coffees, gelato( yum) & even mini bar. Caffee coretto too-yes please-not sure about the grappa but def will try it with Cointreau. Can’t wait 😊

  7. Clicked on beverage package on the UK site, for price information and I am taken to a page which tells me that RCCL AU has gone on holiday.

    Really.:evilsmile::evilsmile::evilsmile::evilsmile::evilsmile:

There is no way I would contemplate ringing Australia.

  8. Thank you everyone! Much appreciate all the information offered. I now realize the ATM fees, incurred from my banks, are quite common. It is still less expensive than purchasing Euros at home. Will get a small amount to carry with us so we will have some on hand when we arrive. We have two ATM cards drawn on different banks and two credit cards with no foreign transaction fees. So, if all operate correctly, lol, we should be, hopefully , all set. Thanks again for your advice. [emoji4]

Hi, if its any consolation we get charged between $3-$5 dollars on every transaction made at US ATMs when we use our British debit cards. Really annoying as we don't get charged using them here or in Europe( as long as we do not use the privately owned machines!)

We find Publix supermarkets are the best places to withdraw cash when in Florida, as fee is slightly less there than an ATM at a bank.

We do understand it's a bit safer to use an ATM at a bank, as if it "eats" your card you may stand a chance of getting it back, unlike the stand -alone machines where your card just gets sent to the "Big Clearing House in the Sky" [emoji13] Happy Travels!

  9. Nope-when I click on Log in or Manage my bookings nothing at all happens. When I click on My bookings tab slightly lower on Left it just takes me to generic site to look at cruises. Grrrr . Jane

  11. Just status quo with Royal. Worst website out there.

I thought MSC was the winner in that contest! But now I’ve just tried to log into RCC UK site( always got straight in before!) & I get sent to their Australian site which then tells me “oops looks like we are on holiday “ or something similar!! Is it me??? Or are there Russian gremlins at work here:eek::mad:

  12. Is it me??? Now the Royal Caribbean site has gone awol. The uk site just redirects me to the Aus site which says " oops, gone awol"!!!!!! Our RCC cruise is soon...luckily I've printed off our sailing passes. Gremlins!!!!

  13. We were on here in August, sorry I can't remember which night was lobster but the next day was a sea day and you could have as much lobster as you wanted in the MDR at lunchtime. I can remember seeing one person with just a plate full of lobster:D

On a 3 day mini cruise from Southampton, just after Indie's refit, I was amazed to see help yourself lobster at the MDR lunch( sea day). Sadly it was tasteless & rubbery, obviously frozen. The scallops there were lovely & my companion reported the steak was fine for her tastes ( too overcooked for me, I always avoid steak in a buffet) There were lots of travel agents on this 3day, so I did wonder if the lunch MDR menu had been " upped " to impress them, but Ive been told it is standard on sea days?

  14. We are possibly on the same cruise ( is it from Miami?)& in an Aft balcony ( but Fantastica ) and have recently upgraded from Classic to Deluxe for £6 pp per day.

If you look on msc website it tells you what is & what isn't inc on the 2 packages. Somewhat worrying an msc employee doesn't know that! I am just not sure if the snacks in the mini bar( nuts, Pringles, m& ms??) are also included. Anyone know for sure?

  15. Bea ... Am I right in guessing that what you quote is to upgrade from D.O.U ? to upgrade from Classic to Deluxe from Miami is $8 pp pd.

In UK to upgrade from Classic( which was inc with Fantastica at time of our booking ) to DeLuxe was £6 pp per day. Hopefully it will be well worth it, especially over Xmas & New Year for the champagne.

Are the snacks (M&Ms, Pringles) in mini bar included in the

    DeLuxe?

We may need them if all the threads about poor food on MSC are true [emoji13][emoji12]

  16. Really enjoyed reading all your posts Squish, thanks. We've not been on MSC yet, but are on Divina in Caribbean over Xmas & New Year, then Meraviglia next Sept /Oct on a transatlantic over to NYC via Rekyavik, then onto Quebec.

Hoping the MDR food will have improved-this ship will then be based in USA so with lots of Americans on board hopefully it will be a tad different, but hey, if not, the pasta & pizza in the buffet will be ok we hope. I could do with losing weight! Or We will just drink more( drinks package inc)

  17. Oh wow - I never thought that there is any difference ;p;p

If you really think theres no difference between an Irish pub & an English pub, perhaps you need to get off the ships & explore the countries( [emoji13][emoji12]joke joke, not being snarky!) Try the Guinness in Ireland ( especially in Dublin) & the real ales in England
