  1. After many emails and lots of searching, we have opted for Pacific Auto Traders.  They offer two different options. One is specifically for cruisers,$110 New Zealand dollars, picked up and dropped off at port with unlimited mileage.  The other option is to Uber to their depot office, paying $59 New Zealand dollars, or $69 for intermediate, giving you 150 km’s a day. Uber runs $15 New Zealand dollars.  If you want more km’s, it is $15.  We are doing the Uber option.  Hope this helps.

  2. We are sailing on Azamara Journey in New Zealand next month.  I emailed Azamara about shuttle bus service for the ports we will be visiting.  I was told by them that they only offer shuttle service in Europe.

  3. Downloaded the app but could not find the menus.  Can you guide me please or send the link?  Also looking for the daily compass, for seven day cruise.  We are doing Costa Maya, Cozumel, Grand Cayman 7 day.  Thought we would go ahead and do reservations in advance for my time dining but want to first see when shows are offered each night.

  4. We will be sailing on Enchantment of the Seas May 6th.  Have been through 41 pages looking for current MDR menus, but have yet to find one listed.  Normally, this is a quick find. I am now looking cross eyed.  Does any Cruise Critic members have recent menu's for MDR?  Would greatly appreciate the information.  We are trying to decide on doing specialty dining one or two nights and would like to see what is offered first on the main dining menus.

  5. We were able to contact Blue Kay a couple of days ago through Facebook.  We had tried several times through email without a reply. They are now offering two price structures.  The pay as you go is $12 per person, going towards two welcome drinks, or a three hour all inclusive at $45.  Looking at past posts in January, they were charging $35 for the same three hour all inclusive.  In two months, the price has jumped $10!  I have read about the inconsistencies in their pricing structure.  For this reason, we have chosen to go to Maya Chan.  For $59 it includes transportation, all inclusive for as long as you like, beach toys, snorkel equipment, and over the top service. If you go to trip advisor, you will see the reviews given are all 5 star.

  6. We will be in Costa Maya in May.  Want a quiet place to enjoy the beach, good food and fun drinks.  We do like to snorkel. From all that I have read, it comes down to either Maya Chan or Almaplena.  Both are $59, both include transportation, both are 20 minutes away.  Which is best for two older women?

  7. I tried email Blue Kay several times at different addresses, information and reservations.  They never replied.  I finally resorted to contacting them through Facebook.  The prices have jumped from January to now, March.  The 3 hour all inclusive is now $45, in January it was $35. The pay as you go entry is $12 a person which pays for 2 drinks.  Looks like this is more inconsistency in their pricing or a serious jump in pricing.  Maybe I just got a hold of someone on a bad day.  Looks like Almaplena will be the better deal, all day for $59, including transportation.

  8. on our past trips to Bangkok, we have always used an excellent tour guide named Rat. We are currently returning to Bangkok in June and would love to use her services again. She no longer responds to the email we had for her. Does anyone know how to contact Rat?

  9. The website says this:

If you are not with a cruise ship but would still like to enjoy paradise and Tabyana's incredible amenities and activities, please contact us directly for rates. We are open whenever there's a ship in port and by request for events.

Many people including myself have attempted to contact them but with no luck. I mean how would they know of you are from a cruise ship or just one of the many people hanging about the island?

We too would be very interested in booking a day pass to Paradise Beach, but do not want to book through the ship. Is there anyway to do so?

  10. Thank you so very much for your quick and detailed reply. This sounds exactly like what we are looking for. Having cruised the area before, doing all the different kinds of sight seeing, then this time, making multiple stops in Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam, this will be a wonderful break, allowing us to just unwind and enjoy.

  11. We will be arriving Singapore airport after midnight on the same day as our cruise. Do cabs take credit cards, US dollars or is it necessary to visit an atm machine before departing airport for hotel? With only 12 hours to spend in Singapore, would like not to have to exchange money.

We will be visiting Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam during the cruise. Do cabs take credit cards in these countries? How well accepted is the dollar in these countries? Will we need to exchange money for each of these countries? We will be visiting the weekend market in Bangkok and Ben Thanh market in Saigon. Do the take US dollars there or is it better to negotiate in their currency? With several countries and currencies, would much rather keep it simple.

Thoughts on how best to handle the different countries and currencies?

  12. We are on Holland America's Volendam arriving Danang on Jan. 29th, 2016. We are looking for transportation only into Hoi An and back. How long is drive and are there any recommendations as to who to reach out to to book this transportation? What is the cost?

  13. We will be doing the same as you, ship docking in Laem Chabang for two days in January. We also have booked at the Eastin Grand Sathorn, due to it's location, close to the BTS, as well as the write ups on tripadvisor. How did you find the hotel? Was it all you hoped for?

  14. We will be on Holland American in January doing the same thing. I too am wondering if it is worth it to find a beach to snorkel. I have been in contact with several beach resorts to see who will allow us to spend the day with them, having lunch and drinks while using their facilities. So far, the best seems to be Nikki Beach resort, close to Nathon Pier, nice resort, who do not charge extra to use facilities. Not sure how the snorkeling is there. Also looked at Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort who charge BHT500 per person, Tango Luxe does not charge to use their facility. The two last resorts are on Bo Phat beach. Have you found out anything else about snorkeling?

  15. We will only have from 8am to 3pm in Koh Samui. Having been there before, doing full tour of island, we are looking to simply find a beach to relax and maybe snorkel. Any suggestions where to go, knowing we will be tendering back early in the afternoon?

  16. We will be in port at Laem Chabang for two days on Jan. 22nd. We are looking for transportation into Bangkok, spending the night, then returning the next day. Having been in Bangkok on several other occasions, we are not interested in taking a tour, simply finding the best means of transportation to get into the city then return the next day. Any suggestions as to the best way to do so, making the most of the time needed, yet not robbing the bank?
