  1. I will let you decide do those little guns that scan the barcode on your sea pass really work??

Back in January, I purchased the key, when one benefit was no reservations needed for shows. I was going on the Oasis March 3rd.  Then a few weeks later, around the 1st of February, they announced yes you do need reservations. All of the times i had wanted were already not available, so I decided to cancel my purchase of the key and just wing it.

Fast forward to cruise time. 1st night was the ice show, So knowing we had no reservations I went to the lady scanning and said, I'm sure I don't have reservations, but could you check anyway. She then promptly said no sorry, and directed me to the stand by line. That was fine and we were let in eventually with plenty of seats still available.

Now next night Aqua show, this time I didn't ask, just let them scan my card, they said thank you and proceeded to my husbands card, and away we went.

This went on for every show, we even saw the ice show 2 times. Though we did not go the comedy only the ice, diving, Come fly with me and head liner.

So in conclusion, since we are only diamond not pinnacle and we were not in a suite only balcony, I have to wonder do those machines really connect to anything??

  2. On Oasis, this past September. Beach pool area, about 9 am. All chairs were taken with towels, but I noticed attendant walking around with a clip board and asked him if he was monitoring pool chairs. Then he showed me his chart, wow was I surprised, it was a diagram of all the chairs with various notes all over. He then took me to 2 chairs, removed the towels and said here you go. About 11:00 a man comes by and says those are my seats, I say no the attendant gave them to me 2 hours ago. Then he starts yelling and screaming at me on how I stole his personal stuff (only towels on chair). Good thing other cruisers came to my rescue, he finally left.

You know what bugs me, is the lack of soap. They are always pushing the washy washy thing, but some of the public bathrooms, have so little soap that comes out or none at all. Then in the rooms you get a tiny bar of facial soap. I always bring my own liquid soap for the cabin. When you go to a hospital and use any bathroom like in the cafeteria, their soap is thick and strong and you know when washing you are getting all those germs and your hands are clean, I just don't feel that sense of cleanliness when using the ships public bathrooms.

  4. While I understand this is a sensitive subject to some individuals, we experienced similar behavior of Pinnacle guests this past April while in a CLS (first time). Upon boarding the Suite Concierges were completely monopolized by Pinnacle guests. We wanted to ask a few questions (brand new to CK/SL). Finally gave up and left without questions answered. During the week we experienced the prime window seats occupied each happy hour by Pinnacle guests. I KNOW this does not apply to all Pinnacle guests. We are back in a CLS in 3 weeks and will report back.

This was also my first experience as a suite guest on Oasis last year. I have since been on 5 cruises in a suite and have to say it does vary on how many pinnacles and whether or not, they have the entitlement issue. I have met both and usually the nice ones overcome the behavior of others.

But if I would have judged my first experience probably would have never been back to that lounge or the ck restaurant.

  5. We are on Oasis now. We were nervous about what to do in St Marteen! After our visit no question ... Take a water taxi to the beach. Walk down to Holland House (several recommended it). It was perfect. $25 for 2 chairs 4 Drinks. Bathrooms. It was awesome!our favorite spot!!! We did walk there and that was a little iffy... but we were fine. No one bothered us! People super nice!! Beach not trashy at all. Def take the water taxi! We have a 10 year old. He loved it. He and his dad also got on the jet ski.

When you get off water taxi in town which way do you go, towards the right and the ship or to the left further away for the Holland House?

  6. I have been in a few suites on the Oasis class ships, and wondered how much to tip them. Lets say they booked us the comedy club and 2 dinner reservations? I know tipping is suggestive and a volatile subject, but since this is the way I like to travel, and may meet up with the same ones again, I would not like to be thought of as the cheap skate. Last cruise I gave them each $40.00. What do you think?

  7. The best place for lunch is Park Café on deck 8.

Excellent salads - decent roast beef sandwiches - chips & desserts.

Beautiful outdoor setting looking up to an open sky with real trees and flowers.

Of course if you have access to Coastal Kitchen - that's a no brainer.

I 2nd this, it has become our tradition, 1st stop park Cafe for Roast Beef Sandwiches!

  8. A few years ago, I left an expensive camera sitting in the cabin, when I got to where you ding your cards out when leaving, mine made a weird sound. They said I had to go to guest services, I was so annoyed because the line was long. Come to find out, steward man found it and alerted the front desk they in turn put a hold on my card.

That was one very nice surprise.

  9. We live in Land O lakes, just a few miles south of spring Hill (your location). Cruise out of Miami or Ft. Lauderdale several times a year. Because I am paranoid and watch the news every morning, we travel down to the Naples-Ft. Meyers area, then get hotel, and in the morning drive the rest of the way. That point is about mid way, so 2 1/2 hours give or take.

I often hear of traffic accidents that close the highway, i75, or brush fires. Or even car trouble.

I prefer to be close on the morning of the cruise.

Just my 2 cents on the subject.

  10. There have also been reports that sometimes even those in A JS have not been allowed or have been limited in how often they can dine. It all depends on the ship but I would not expect that non suite guests get to use suite guest privileges, family or not. If it happens and they allow it great, take that as a bonus but not an expectation.

This is true, had a Junior Suite on Oasis, last year, could only have dinner twice and no breakfast or lunch. I was told this on the first day when trying to make reservation.

  11. Well, I used to have this dream to, and then this past September it happened to me. I live just north of Tampa, leaving from Port Canaveral. Normally a 2 hour 15 minute drive. Before leaving, husband says, do you have the passports, I say yep sure do.

We arrived unloaded luggage and go to get on line, pull out passports from purse. Get to front of line, open covers, mine is missing. They were both in covers and when I pulled them out of the drawer, but apparently mine had fallen out of the jacket and I didn't realize, only knew I had the 2 jackets. So asked if photos in my phone would work, they said no.

Sent my dh on the ship (boy was he mad), and I drove home and back. Was told I had until 3:30 to make it and it was already close to 11. My reasoning was if I missed this ship, would only have to purchase one airline ticket at the next port.

That trip was the most nerve-wracking drive of my life. If you are familiar with the area i4 is typically heavily congested on a weekend afternoon with disney and all. Got home, passport just where I said it was in drawer. Didn't even shut the car off, ran in and grabbed. Then filled gas tank and prayed all the way back.

    Arrived at the terminal 3:15.

So moral of the story, the photo did not work.
