  1. If you do plan to eventually book it through a US site (?), many of our agencies have a policy where you can book now, and then cancel later w/o paying any penalty--b/c your cruise is so far out. Just make sure to read the fine print, the time frames when different penalties will start to apply.

You could call one or two of the agencies and explain what you want to do, and see if they can work w/ you. Also, they can double-check for you about how many YC cabins are showing up as still available.

  2. so glad I read this - cruising in April. I had the same problem on NCL Epic in Spain/Italy. I had called my bank prior to the cruise and thankfully another cc company to let them know. My bank card was put on hold for fraudulent charges! The purser gave me a look but I was allowed to call my bank on the ship and they released the suspected fraud hold.... I had to get ugly before they did. It was a little messy but once the funds were released the purser was apologetic. Has not happened on any other cruise. I will make sure to call my bank and at least one other card, also keep a little extra cash in case. I wonder if I can tell them to take/hold $300 when we check in? Just in case?

I think I remember reading that you can "prepay"/fund your on board account w/ cash, but that you may have to give $500 at check-in to do that (?)

  3. On my Dec cruise, the last listed time for luggage tag colors to be called/flashed on the ship TV screens was 10:45.

So they probably do a last call around 11am.

If you're in YC, the butler may be able to arrange for you to stay on longer ...

As for breakfast, the buffet is open until 11am. The later you go, the less crowded :D

Also, you can lay out on a lounger all morning--they start putting them out earlier than 8am, even on the last morning. On the main pool deck + also on the deck above.

When you do finally leave the ship, you could also easily have a beach day if you want to.

  4. You're welcome ;)

As far as lotion or any other things that you may forget to pack, there is a CVS very close to the pier in San Juan. You come off the ship + walk up to the first street, go left for less than 1 block, cross the street, and there it is.

It sounds a little crazy, but I go there every time a ship I'm on stops in San Juan. And it's always PACKED--mostly w/ other cruisers (!)

That is probably their highest-grossing store, due mainly to all of the cruise ships that call there.

  5. Hi 73mg,

Boarding probably usually begins around noon, though the cabins might not be available (fully cleaned) until 2pm or even 2:30.

    Muster is around 5pm.

There is shampoo on the wall, but no conditioner. I'm not sure on the lotion, but there is a hair dryer. NOT in the bathroom, but inside of a desk drawer ...

And, the shows for you will start around 6:45pm.

  6. I was on the same cruise, and there were many people out in the water around GSC.

The air temp was 72 in the morning, up to 79 for a high that day (Dec 19th).

It should feel VERY hot there by March--both on the beach + in the water (I'm originally from northern Minnesota, and I was already feeling pretty warm by the end of the day last week!)

  7. Who can tell me the prices for internet in the cabin on board msc Divina. We go januar 17 from Miami.

    Thanks, Jan from the Netherlands

Verzonden vanaf mijn iPad met behulp van Forums

If you need only very little internet time, MSC Divina also sells you 10 minute increments for $6US.

Also--you can find free or cheap wi-fi in most of the Caribbean ports. There is no wi-fi at all on Great Stirrup Cay, though.

  8. Hi Kerry,

I have recently disembarked in Copenhagen (but on NCL), and they are very well set up there. They have cabs waiting for the ship, as well as the cruise line transfer busses. And, if you end up sailing in a bit earlier than 12 or if your flight ends up delayed, they even have a blue line painted on the sidewalk, that people follow walking if they want to catch trains to the airport. The closest train stop is about a 15 minute walk, and you buy the tickets down at the 7-11, before going up to the train platform.

As far as MSC, if you sign up to do the self-assist for debarkation (where you keep all of your luggage w/ you + take it off the ship yourself), you'll be in the earliest group to leave the ship.

It seems like you'll be ok w/ the flights that you have. Unless the airline requires a really early check-in.

One other thing to check is this site, just to be sure that there aren't any/many other ships coming in close to the same time as yours:

  9. With my etickets there was a note that I would get a coupon book good for 5 liter bottles of water. I think I read that this was done for the american guests.

The bottles of water are also free for Canadians (and I think now for Brits and Aussies, too??), but this is only done during the European sailings.
