Saint John is a very drive-able city/town. One can easily drive around, see all the sites and be back at the ship in loads of time. You can visit the reversing falls, see Hopewell Rocks, and the Museum all very easily. Love this part of New Brunswick, used to live across the bay in Digby.

If you opt to visit the Hopewell Rocks that would likely be the only thing you did on that day. You would have a minimum 4 hours driving time there and back plus your time on site. It is also very dependent on the tide schedule as to what you would actually see.

To the OP: Want to try something different? Book MSC Seaside for about 2/3 of a Carnival fare. MSC will match whatever status level you with have on another cruiseline or hotel. Many of their low fares are now AI, so why not experiment?
I must be looking at the wrong MSC Seaside. I just checked for the same date we have booked in 2020 out of Miami and it is almost twice as much for a balcony cabin on a 7 night cruise as the Carnival 8 night we have booked.

You may have misread the original post. I don't "cruise to shop". It adds to the occasion. There are several things to do during a cruise. People obsess about shopping in port. Maybe you haven't yet been on a cruise???
Maybe you misread my post.

Don't have a problem with them. Our family doesn't go on a cruise to shop, not sure why anyone would.
-
We were on the Vista in March and had to tender to Grand Cayman. They had anyone who had priority simply go to the Red Frog Rub and they escorted you to the tender from there. You could do this until 10 am and that was it.
-
Serenity was very busy on sea days during our sailing. We usually had no problem finding chairs overlooking the Lido pool or on deck 5 (very quiet here).
-
Both are beautiful compared to Reflections on Vista.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
They all look good to me but for different reasons. Reflections and Horizons on Vista have much cleaner, modern feel than the older ships.
It is refreshing that the look has changed with the new ships.

What happened to Joe Farcus , who earned the reputation of creating the most eccentric & whimsical designs ? The Legend was all about urns and everything on the Splendor was pink !
I just got off the Vista which probably has the most boring decor of any ship in the fleet. The atrium has a giant LED display but little else to catch the eye. The dining room was for eating, not looking at. The Liquids theater is a throwback to a lounge design with poor sight-lines & lack of seating. Don't get me wrong, I loved my cruise vacation just found the ship decor boring compared to the other "Fun Ships"
I thought the decor on the Vista was a pleasant change from the other Carnival ships; it had a much more modern feel.

they show you where to go when they drop you off. Its across the street in the middle area (sign will say pick ups)
Who will show you?

Thanks if one of the last, what time should I have a car there?
How long do they wait?
I have Global Entry but my wife does not.
I can go through it and make her wait :-)
No on SAS, I was looking for a private car, maybe a limo up to FLL.
End the Anniversary off nice.
Where is a good place to hang out and wait to disembark?
We waited in the Liquid Lounge.
We used Lyft and called when we got through customs and he was right there. The problem became finding him. Because we were so late exiting the terminal it was like a zoo...people trying to get picked up and dropped off...it was pretty crazy.
-
Both MIA and FLL have dedicated US Customs Global Entry lines that can speed up the debarkation process considerably, although that is not what the OP is hoping for.
I always hate posting this, as my so far empty line gets me through Customs in a flash.
They had a sign for that but it made no difference. There were only 3 agents working that morning.
-
We were the last to disembark on our last cruise and that was around 10:30. Customs was so slow it was close to Noon before we actually left the terminal.

The music's not too loud..... But they play the same good-damn song's on every cruise. Come-on variety..
Now that's something I can agree with.
-
Thanks for the suggestion.... But we are having this conversation (I assume) because we enjoy Carnival.
I enjoy it even more when I can order a drink without shouting and my ears don’t ring. I want it loud not painful.
You should try the Carnival cruises we are on, I've never had the music so loud that I couldn't order a drink without shouting or that it hurt my ears.
-
For those of you who are finding the music too loud might I suggest Holland America.

I must say this thread has been a fun read. Everyday there is a new complaint in here, it's always enlightening.

Very difficult to find peace and quiet on a Carnival ship. Even the serenity has to have music.
It can be found, 5 weeks ago on the Vista.
-
Somebody else already said that. The implication being that Carnival is clean and Royal is not. The fact is that every cruise line has been humiliated at one time or another. None can claim to be the last bastion of perfection, which is why cheerleading and apologetics is so ridiculous.
Don't think anyone made that claim.
Why do you post here again? Are you cruising with Carnival soon?

I’ve never understood this saying. Every time I’ve had cake, I’ve been able to eat it. What’s the point of baking a cake if someone is not going to eat it?

You can't eat it and still have it, you can only do one or the other.

Carnival had 4 ships fail their health inspections in a matter of a few months, recently. Royal can't say the same.
Yet no noro outbreaks, Royal can't say the same.
Soda cans in checked luggage?

You don't have to actually put it in your bag, you can simply carry it on.
