  1. Been coming to CC for a few years now and I have never looked in this area before. Over the past year I have moved away from the Auto selection on my camera and have moved to full manual mode. As I understand it, these threads are for pictures taken during the given week so here are a few that I took last week.

  2. You are visiting Saint John not Saint John's; two different places in two different provinces.

To visit the Hopewell Rocks you would need the entire day. With a rental car you visit the caves in St. Martins as well as the covered bridges that are there. You could also visit Reversing Falls (Rapids) in the city as well. You will not be able to do it all.

You will also need to look at the tide tables to determine what your best bet will be..

FTTF: We've had it, and not had it. It doesn't speed things up much, other than disembarking on the last day. The best way to get your luggage early is to give the porter a heavy tip. No tip gets you at the back of the line. $5 a bag gets your luggage by 2 or 3. $10 a bag gets your luggage on the first load into the ship. Is this fair? No. But it works. I can buy my way ahead of you in line. BBwwwaaaaHAHAHAHAHAHA.

S&S cards on the door. Can some one steal this and charge your card? Cards have a picture that comes up on the register when scanned onboard. You better look like the person on the stolen card. Plus, all the shops are closed until international waters are reached so other than a drink or two in the worst case, it's not going to be a big problem.

We have used FTTF a number of times, never tipped the porter $5 per bag and we always have our bags between 1 and 2.

Because us Platinums  earned the the right to board 1st thru the number of cruises we have taken , number of days at sea

I believe the previous poster was just trying to be funny.  Another way to look at it is Platinums (and Diamonds too) have paid to board early too based on all the cruises they paid for to reach P or D.

I believe the other poster recently joined and is trolling a few threads.

CUBA TRAVEL POLICY UPDATE #3 June 6, 2019 10:00 AM ET (2:00 PM UTC)

On June 4, 2019, the United States government announced new and immediate travel restrictions to Cuba. As a result, we have ceased all calls to the country and are modifying previously scheduled sailings as appropriate. We share your disappointment and frustration caused by this unexpected change. Like you, we were surprised by this sudden modification to policy. We thank you for your patience and continued support as we navigate through this recent development. Guests who booked Cuba sailings with us will be contacted very shortly with a detailed communication. Please bear with us as we carefully work through each sailing.

Guests booked on cruises to Cuba through September 2, 2019 have two options:

    • Sail the revised itinerary and receive a 50% refund of the cruise fare paid as well as a 50% future cruise credit valid through December 31, 2020.
    • Cancel the booking and receive a full refund. If guests choose this option, we must be notified no later than June 11, 2019, midnight EST.

Sailings beyond September 2, 2019 will be automatically cancelled and refunds will be applied to the original form of payment. Guests impacted by these cancellations are offered a 20% discount off current cruise fares on any new voyages booked by August 5, 2019 for sailings no later than December 31, 2020.

We are so very sorry for this last-minute change but we do look forward to welcoming you on board again soon and providing an exceptional vacation experience. With our world-class team, our innovative fleet and over 300 destinations to visit, we know you will have the vacation of a lifetime no matter the destination.

    So what?

If company can do what they want. Obviously Carnival has thought this our and feel that this decision works for them.

You can still go to Cuba - just not on a cruise ship and not on a People to People visa. You can still fly there and visit on a Support for the People visa and have a better and more in depth experience. You can still sightsee and buy all the cigars and rum you desire.

Or be a Canadian and you can go whenever you want.

Really???? On a day that the market went up over 200 points, Carnival stock was down 2.7% , Royal Caribbean down 3%, And Norwegian down 3.5%. It sounds to me like the cruise industry stick holders took a beating!

If they didn't sell their shares, they haven't lost anything.

Of course it would.  It matters to me that instead of fixing the problems when ordered, they violated probation.  It bothers me that they are putting out PR that they hope people will believe fixes the problem.  It bothers me that they use the opportunity to further cut service and it bothers me that you make an assumption that I would not care what they said or did.  If they cared about the environment they would have followed the rules.

i would applaud them for making real and lasting change by committing to new processes, training, and internal audits/inspections.

    Cuts to service?

There is nothing wrong with what they announced and there is nothing saying that they aren't doing or going to do.

Love info from natives. To that: can I walk to Reversing Rapids? According to Rome2Rio its only a few miles, but are those miles along a freeway or a walkable path?

There is a trail that is about 4 Kms I believe, that's about 2.5 miles. Not sure that the walk is like though.

You will also more likely hear locals call it Reversing Falls nor Reversing Rapids, even though it is just a big set of rapids.  Check the tide tables before you go though.

I am finished here. You are going after me just to try to justify why you spend the money to do a Disney cruise. You spent the money and made that decision. Now live with it. Going after me will not change anything you already did.

As I said. great for children if you can afford it or not. So are all the Royals oasis ships great for kids. A tremendous amount of things to do on those ships and others compared to a Disney ship. Disney cannot come close to the variety that is on those ships. All Disney has is mickey and friends. great. Go for it. Just do not use me as your escape goat.

Not one person on here has told you how to spend your money; only disputing that a DCL cruise has no value. As people have said, value is a personal opinion. You don't see value and that is fine, others do.

How about:  “places for grownups to escape”;  “adults only pool”;  “a pub showing live sporting events”;  “bar with live music”;  “nightclub with DJ and dancing”;  “the entertainment options are mind-blowing”;  “production shows”;  “costumes and choreography are simply spectacular”;  “enough adult humor to keep more mature cruisers interested”.

I have put quotes around those excerpts from YOUR POST #79 — do you not understand what you were saying?

I suspect that your REAL problem with Disney is simply the fact that it is outside of your budget.   Fine — but you should reconsider your definition of “value” — it does not just involve what you are willing to pay - —- it is better defined by what tens of thousands of other people are willing to pay.

I was givens some great advice yesterday I think I will pass along:

"I advise you not to get into an argument with a person who is the sole judge of value."

    ;)

Disney is a niche cruise for Disney fans.  This is why there are only 3 Disney ships right now - it is a niche market.  Just because YOU don't see the value added, does not mean the value is not there for other adults who are Disney fans.  For them, it's not about the money, it is about the Disney experience.

DCL currently has 4 ships and 3 more on the way with the first one coming online in 2021.

What is your problem? I always said it was my pinion. I really hope you are happy now. You and no one else can convince me of anything. Get that straight, Disney is not worth anywhere near what they get out of your pocket. Period. And YES it is my opinion. PERIOD You do not agree,. That is just fine with me. Your money. Waste it your way.

That is not what you were saying but like I said you seem to realize that others can have an opinion that they think it has value so enjoy your cruising.

  13. 38 minutes ago, twodaywonder said:

Personally, everything shown is NOT worth 2-3 times the cost sometimes even more. My opinion only. No one no matter how hard you try will convince me any other way. Again. Different strokes. I have no problem with that. Just not for me.

The only thing anyone was trying to convince you of is that your opinion of no value was just that your opinion., others may see value. You have finally admitted that so I guess all is done here.

  14. 2 hours ago, twodaywonder said:

Where is the value????? I can see Micky and Goofy. Awesome.  P.T. BARNUM rides again.

Value is a personal perception. If you were asked which was more valuable, a diamond or a glass of water, what would you answer?

and for the record there is more to a Disney cruise than the character meets.

You Barnum comments are insulting to people that do see the value in a Disney cruise.

  15. 3 hours ago, twodaywonder said:

Just a quick example. OV 4 days July 3rd this year $533.00 pp plus tax and port Carnival 4 day July 4th $158.00 pp plus tax and port. I must agree. Way over priced. How can you justify that price other than Disney sucking it out of you?

You can't justify it because to you it doesn't have value, to others is does and they are willing to pay the price.
