  1. I have a question that is somewhat related. My wife and I are Seventh-day Adventists, so we observe Sabbath from Friday Sundown until Saturday Sundown. We are excited at the possibility of some type of service being offered Saturday "Sabbath" morning. Outside of the Sabbath, I am unfamiliar with Jewish practices. What should a guest be aware of or not do as to not offend anyone attending.

Usually the prayers on the ship are on Friday at sundown. Are you sure there will be a service on the ship on Saturday?

Avazah: on ships all candles on the tables are electric, open flames are not allowed, so one of them will be "offered" to you for Shabbat blessings. If you need them before the usual dinner time, you will have to request in advance. To be on the safe side, I'd bring all from home.

  2. We were in the first group off the ship, walked over to the taxi, there was a woman asking how many people, directing small and large groups to different exits.

We walked over to the waiting taxi, and saw many more coming in as we were leaving the port. All was fast and efficient.

Somebody above said, the gates don't open 1 hr before flights - the airport is opened :) Only the gates won't open till 1 hr prior, but there will be sitting space, so don't worry about your parents arriving early.

With an early flight I would not trust the cruise ship transfers. They may wait for somebody, go to a different airline first... taxi would be more dependable.

  3. You should look for something like this, and check ingredients to make sure nothing else is added. Sometimes they sell as "ginger" but add other herbs that are not needed.

In this case gelatin is the capsule itself, ginger is the only main ingredient.

There are also ginger candy, ginger gum - but in my opinion it adds calories and other ingredients, capsules you can just swallow any time with any drink.

  4. Are you sure those are ginger vitamins as ginger plus other vitamins in one capsule? Never heard of those.

I take ginger capsules daily when on a cruise, they help on regular days - I get sick the moment I see a boat :p

On rough days I have to take pills - Bonine (Meclezine) is my favorite.

  5. We stayed in Katakolon, and saw the train. The "station" was close to the pier, walk off the ship and keep walking to the right.

We only took the horse carriage ride (narrated, pointed out Mt Olympus), the "train" ride (car pulling tourist "train") and went to a very interesting museum of inventions where a woman showed everybody how everything works. Amazing!

  6. I'm suffering from migraines too, and I would not trust a ship (or a pharmacy in port) to refill my prescription: they may not have it, or they might have it from a different manufacturer, and who knows what the reaction will be.

You should be able to work it out with your doctor and insurance company or pharmacist.

  7. Another pre-packer here, hello everybody :)

I have a detailed list of what to bring on a trip, and about a month in advance I take a large bag and start tossing (or gently depositing) things marking them off my list.

By the time we are ready to pack, very little left to do.

I also keep things to do before a trip on that list, like stop the mail, call the bank.
