Hi All,

 

I'm Randy (Jonathan's partner, Russell's friend and cruise friends of Walter and Iian) and finally coming out of lurker mode.

 

A group of five of us (Jonathan, Russell, my sister Bonnie, our friend Lisa & myself) have reserved the Carambola Beach Club through Liz.

 

I hadnt been keeping up to date with this thread recently and missed the Carambola booking by Ted (Rock Martian). When Liz asked if we were part of that group I originally said no. After catching up on the posts, I realized we could be considered part of Ted's group and told her so. She said we could share taxis so I hope that's okay, Ted :)

Hi Randy and Welcome to the group! Yes, I spoke to Liz and she asked if you were part of the group and I said yes....we are all on the same taxi/possible bus.

Nice to meet you and your partner Kim... will look forward to meeting you at the sail away party on embarkation day unless you are in Rome for a pre-cruise stay and our paths cross. I had previously shared some information with Schplinky (Lee) about Carambola. I have cut/pasted some of that info into this posting for you, but you may have found this on your own. The Carambola Beach Club does not have a website, but they do have many ratings on Trip Advisor and they have a Facebook page. I have included those links below:

So far we are 8 that need transport to Carambola from Liz, and I have let her know. She will also make reservations for us at Carambola. Of course, if anyone has a change in plans....no problem. Just let me know so I can update Liz.

Count Bobbie and I in. This sounds like fun. I read Jerome's thread long ago and am wading through again to find what he said about Carambola. Can you post details about Liz and what this all entails? Maybe you can fill me in, too, Walter. But we're a go.

Liz is just arranging transport for $10 a piece, but she does all kinds of tours and is highly regarded on Trip Advisor. Since Carambola is closed for the season until October, she will also make a reservation for us there when they open. JW says reservations are needed so we should plan on thats, especially as our group grows....we are now 8 I believe with the addition of Bart and Bob. In JW's post he says that each lounge chairs is $10, the umbrella $10 and he gave $10 for a tip for a total of $40 bucks. Drinks and food are extra I believe.....

FYI: Just heard back from Liz Pereira and the transport cost to and from Port to Carambola is $10 per person. Still not sure about Carambola but trying to find out.

Thats great news! So far its Me (Ted) and Kim, Walter and Iain, and Mike and Lee that are considering at day at Carambola during out St Kitts visit.

I will ask Liz for an updated price for 6, 8, and 10 (in case we can persuade more to join) for the transport from Port to Carambola.

She is planning on meeting our group at 9am and takes cash only for the transport. No deposit required. She will also make reservations for us at Carambola when they reopen in October. I can email you guys confirmations when we get them if you like.

Its a riot, if you haven't read it. An absolute must read!

By the way, Kim and I are going to take his advice on St Kitts and go to Carambola for the day. If anyone is interested you can join us! We have arranged transport and reservations.

Yep, we are still alive and kicking! Just very busy with work...as everyone else is. We are getting very excited and thanks to Bart I think we found a transfer to the port Chihuahua....sorry port Civitevechio..or whatever the heck its called! :)

We are staying in Hotel Smeraldo just south of the Pantheon. I think I saw from the Reflection website (thanks bart) that there are 6 other couples there. We are planning to fly in Wednesday night and then do the sites all day Thursday. Kim hasnt been to Rome before so I am trying to prioritize for him...not that it will be the last time we are there since so many cruises depart from there.

Anyway, I'm rambling after 2 glasses of wine..... Can I get that drink package at home?

Guys, there are a number of people on the main roll call who have been asking about transfers. You might try posting there and see what happens. I asked folks a while ago to let us know and we'd post about transfers, but I didn't get much response. I know most have other things on their minds months out from departure, so I'm going to post on the main roll call again. Let's see what happens.

Is it advisable to book our hotels this early for Rome? I assume so but havent done it yet. Kim (Zentha) are looking in the Pantheon area and wondered if anyone had recommendations.

As far as plans in Rome, I think we arrive on Wednesday and plan to see the sites since Kim hasnt been there before, and of course find lots of good food! We loved our couple of nights in Barcelona before the last TA and really found some gems for great food!
