  1. Can I use my own CDC/FDA approved test kits (which I have many of) to do an at home proxied Covid Test for the required 48 hour negative test before setting sail from NYC to Bermuda?  NCL's partnered provider is more than double the price of this service (which is $20 and you use your own tests) rapid test and trace dot com.  which will provide the ehealth proxy and documentation.  Has anyone else used another service other than the one NCL has listed?  Appreciate your input and thank you.

  2. Wow! That was not the case on June 4, so it just happened. If that's the case, that's a huge price increase. With the a la carte prices, you could eat 2 appetizers and a sandwich if you wanted and it would be cheaper than that. Even eating 2 sandwiches yourself would be cheaper than that. That's crazy!

I honestly believe ours was the first sailing on BA with the price change,

  3. We have a 7:30 AM reservation for a boat rental at H2O water sports in Somerset Village. They request that you arrive a half hour early. If necessary, I can always call to tell them I'm running late.

The live dockyard web cam is an excellent idea. I'll check that out.

    Thanks

Just sailed back from Bermuda on BA. DH had a 7:30 AM T time at golf course and had absolutely no problem getting a taxi at 6:30 AM. If you want to play it even safer once you arrive you can ask for taxi service phone numbers and pre arrange (this was suggested to us at the visitor center).

BTW, we did the boat rental from H2O last week and really enjoyed it! Made a few wrong turns and missed some of the markers but we made it back and on time! Enjoy.

  4. Thanks for the info. Question can you just do the shuttle one way, thinking about just doing it on return since will be headed to HSB from a different starting point? If so, do you buy the tix at Dockyard for the one way trip or can you purchase once at HSB or pay cash? TYIA!:)

  5. Last week, on the Breakaway, the answer from the CruiseNext people was "we'll make the request and let you know". Don't know if it was granted or not,,,, I suppose it was based on availability of extra seats.

Exact same experience I had as Plat Plus travelling with non Plat. Plus, however after asking permission from I guess Hotel Director they did allow it for us. Doesn't make sense to not to in my opinion, so Wife goes to dinner and Hubby does what, eats alone!

  6. Thanks for your review and pictures. I agree those balcony rooms are small and so are those bathrooms. Amir is such a nice guy. I hope the SIN tax is not going to be too high, I guess it was a matter of time for this to happen. We were supposed to be on the Gem this week but something came up and needless to say we aren't sailing.

The salesgirl was not exactly sure about the percentage of the tax but did say that a current bottle of liquor costing $19 would cost around $27. They said the sin tax will be applied to not only liquor and cigarettes but soda as well. They were also not completely sure of the implementation date and believed it would be @ May 1st.

  7. Thanks for the great review! Yes, big change from the GV to a balcony! I've seen the GV, but have never stayed there. I have stayed on the Gem in the haven, in a balcony, and in an inside. After the Haven, everything else seems so tight!

I hope Tim Kaminski is still onboard when we sail on June 3. I am looking forward to his show.

If I recall correctly, Tim said he was leaving the ship when it returns from it's current sailing for a 2 month vacation, so looks like June 3rd sailing will not be graced with his attendance.

  8. Yes, if the server is clueless they may try to charge you. They shouldn't, and you shouldn't allow it. Ask to speak to the maitre d' if that happens.

Unfortunately I don't think this was the case, server was very specific - too specific for us to even attempt to alter the protocol.. But as the case may be, we did speak to the Maitre D' about the charges on our bill for the sides but for a totally different reason. I ordered the Porterhouse steak, knowing there is fat in the steak because I actually like it that way; sadly my Porterhouse was 75% rubbery fat and 25% steak so had a word with him and in addition to offering me a different selection also removed the charges for our 2 side orders.
