  1. Umm...any cruises leaving from South Africa this weekend? Will my drink package work?

The plane is actually heading towards southern South America...Tierra Del Fuego in fact...the pilot figures that you need a little cooling off from your Amsterdam prison experience so you're being dropped off there for a few days....I'm sure that you'll be able to pick up Harmony at another time.....

  2. Who's gonna catch me on the web cam? Port side, 2nd balcony up between 4th/5th lifeboat from the front.

If the camera would just pan down I could see you. It's concentrating on the top of the ship at the moment.

Oh..and thanks for this great review!

  3. I wil be posting a more in depth review when time permits but here are a few things.....

Pros - Service and food in Blu was outstanding, We would book Aqua Class again! Capt. Averopoulos runs a well oiled machine, the ship looked fantastic. No issues with getting a drink at any bar or finding a cocktail server in any venue, including the pool. We rented Alcoves for our 3 sea days and be late port day and enjoyed the space, it worked well with us and the Alvcove server made sure we had everything we needed. We love the Silhouette and will cruise on her again!

Cons - Food in Tuscan Grill was not as good as it was this past summer, when we were aboard from Venice. There were a lot of motorized scooters on this journey, many driven by incredibly rude passengers, scooters left in the middle of the stateroom hallways. Witnessed one scooter passenger insist that everyone get off the elevator when it stopped on her floor already full. Surprising number of passengers treating the staff rudely, clearly feeling the staff were their personal servants. Staff in the Spa is again giving the hard sell at the end of treatments to buy products, I thought this was going to stop when Canyon Ranch took over. Our neighbor kept smoking on hs balcony, even after we raised the issue with the staff

All in all it was a fantastic trip!

My partner and I plus two friends were also on this cruise (first time on Celebrity) and in Aqua and couldn't agree with you more about Blu, it was great especially Rachelle (sp?)!

  4. I just posted a review of our New Years cruise on the Dream. In it I have pictures and video our aft cabin 8475. If anyone wants to take a look the review is probably on page 4 or 5 by now.

We loved the aft and will definitely do one again.

Edited to add link to video:

  5. Very nice review, Mainah! My wife and I cruised on the Dream a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Thinking back on it, I can't remember one shortfall worthy of a comment.

It sounds like you and I have very similar cruising styles, especially when it comes to shore excursions. I was sorry to read, though, that you didn't venture past the dock-side shops while visiting Roatan. If you ever cruise to Roatan again, please consider visiting my most-favorite on-shore venue. It's called the "Blue Harbor Tropical Arboretum" and it's like a leisurely walk through paradise! The staff is absolutely delightful... in fact, I was so impressed by the visit I started asking questions about immigrating to Roatan! Alas, I have not.

If anyone is interested, they have a nice website with a very informative video: http://blueharbortropicalarboretum.com/

Going back there (on the Dream, too) Feb 1st and I can't wait! :)

Thanks Flyingfish48! We will certainly consider the Blue Harbor Tropical Arboretum next time we find ourselves in Roatan. Have a great cruise!

  6. I have a couple questions about your aft stateroom. I have been reading about them and several people mentioned that they got ash on their balconies from the stack on the ship and constantly had to wipe the furniture down before using them. Also, they said that the movement on the ship was much more pronounced at the back. Did you have any of these problems?

Most days there was little to no ash/soot on the balcony. If there was any I just asked the room steward to clean it. One day after a heavy rain during the night there were a few fairly large chunks of soot by the door which I could easily step over to get on the balcony (nothing was going to prevent me from using that balcony! :)). It's funny but I never saw soot on the chairs. I always made sure to check them though before sitting on them. It wasn't a big problem for me and won't prevent me from getting another aft balcony in the future however your experience may be different.

As far as movement at the back I didn't notice it being any more pronounced than in other parts of the ship however my partner did notice it a little more but he's prone to seasickness and I'm not so that might make a difference. (He took bonine and was fine after that though).

    Hope this helps!
