Seems like the ship is sitting in the midtown cruise terminal now.

Any idea when she is scheduled to depart for Miami?  I may try to get into the city tomorrow or Sunday to get a peek at her even if I'm behind a fence.  Good excuse to walk around with a camera for the day.

Revvel is doing parties on her all weekend. I am going on her tonight for dinner at Extra Virgin and one of the shows. tomorrow there is a pool party and a dance party tomorrow night, they also are having people stay in suites and balconies Saturday into Sunday also. hoping to get some time walking around the ship and will be taking pictures if able.

Has anyone spoken to NCL about any potential projections about further cancellations?  We are still scheduled (right now) to depart Miami on the Encore on 4/12, which is the first possible sailing day after the initial 30 day cancellation.  I imagine this cruise will be cancelled as well given the recent CDC recommendations, and I can see that the organization is inundated with all of the cancellations, rescheduling, etc. (I'm sure this just crippling).

Just reaching out to see if anyone knows or has heard anything or even has any educated guesses...

I am on the Bliss on Apr 12 and I just got an upgrade today.

Just heard that NY city will require each passenger to have their temperature taken prior to leaving on Sunday 3/15. Anyone with fever over 100.4 will be asked to stay home ..once leaving the ship assuming they live local. If not they will be quarantined

I believe that is being implemented system-wide for NCL

  4. So I am going to be travelling with girlfriend and her son shortly and what kind of ID with her son need to get on and off the ship while in a port? We have our Drivers license which we usually just carry but will we have to bring along his passport for him to get back on the ship?

  5. Curious about our chances for two vibe passes // We have five of us. DH and I don't want the passes. My dad doesn't want the pass. But our son 22 and my mom 82 (they like to hang out in the hot tub and visit and DS would really like the Vibe passes for them if they are available for the more readily available hot tub in maybe a quieter area).

We booked through the casino -- It was an offer for an inside freebie cabin for two (we did the third person free at sea) and with that casino booking you can get 10% off a second room booking (similar deal that some travel agencies get it sounds like). Anyway we upgraded to a mini suite on 8 with large balcony and we booked a second one of those for my parents (Those are mini suites - just a little bigger room, though, not regular suites and not Haven of course). Also we have special wheel chair boarding for my dad (some mobility issues). This is a cruise on the Getaway last full week of January 2019 from Miami.

Anyway, I was curious as to what boarding group we might be in. Would we be the second or third boarding group because of booking through the casino? Was thinking DS and I might get there early, board as soon as we can and run to customer service to try for two passes and I would give mine to my mom if we are fortunate enough to secure passes. Thinking DH, my mom, and my dad could get there later with no rush to board.

Or would a better strategy be to bring my dad early and board with him, since he has wheel chair boarding?? He is an early riser and wouldn't mind that., but I don't want him to be waiting around for a long period of time (can't stand for long and not sure about chair comfort etc. in the waiting area), so maybe that's a bad idea. We will be doing an uber or lyft ride from our hotel // maybe two different ones.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. It won't make or break the cruise for DS, but he thinks it would be so cool to get a Vibe pass, and I'd be interested in what you think our best option would be for the early boarding.

When I was on GA a few weeks ago. someone tried to purchase for someone else and were told the person getting the pass has to be present and have their room card. I was also in group 1 to embark and got #62. Being in group 2/3 would likely put you out of contention in getting passes.

  6. Funny,,. We enjoyed After Midnight.

However, always looking for something new.

I agree It is a good show, however it is not everyones taste. I saw it both on Broadway on on NCL. It only ran for a year and 1/2 on Broadway (review shows tend to have short runs) and the reviews were mixed except for the choreography which won the Tony that year. I may get flamed for this comment but in my option it was not a mainstream type of show that middle America would enjoy.

  7. Thank you

I think once you’ve been cruising for a while , you can easily brush off some minor issues. I often find it humorous watching some people complain at the GS desk with minor issues and i swore i would never be one of them . Unfortunately, i found myself at the desk more than all my other cruises combined . It was just an off experience but it seemed widespread on the ship . It was a very disengaged staff . I felt like I’d walked into a family argument [emoji1].

I did hear from NCL who said they are investigating the occurrence. What that means to me I’ve no idea . I have never been the type to stomp my feet and demand something . If they want to offer something , fine. If not, i won’t lose sleep . At this point i think NCL need some space apart and to see other people for a while [emoji106].

I’m both sorry and glad, that I’m not the only one who felt this was a bit of a non usual NCL cruise

I think it will be interesting to see what my cruise is like in a few weeks. Like you both I have been on a few cruises, this will be my gold/platinum cruise (I should have been platinum my last cruise but I had to cancel at the last minute due to emergency surgery ) so the last cruise I was on was the Getaway a year ago. I enter with an open mind but with my eyes open.

  8. If you’re platinum , you should be able to snag some . The ship also has miraculous healing powers as some people i saw boarding early as special needs using a cane, has since discarded it and is now running around the ship . They also conveniently had a vibe bracelet . So , maybe buy a folding cane and once you get thru, sprint to guest services for your pass [emoji106]

Not supposed to give out the secrets. The cane can also be used to trip others who start to pull ahead of you on your way for passes and request help from the staff " Can you help me? I can't walk well and want to get Vibe tickets"

  9. I Will be on in just a few weeks. Too bad about the Vibe, I should have been Platinum my last cruise but I had medical emergency and had to cancel 2 days before leaving. I will try like you to get there early and getting a pass, I have always enjoyed this area of the ship. How does the studio common area look? I booked a studio this time around. I had done a studio a few years ago and did not care for it but going to give it a second chance.

  10. We used Native Choice tours in Costa Maya to see Chaccoben and enjoyed it. They are very professional and we had no issues.

The trip to the Tulum ruins from Cozumel is a long day and requires taking the ferry to the mainland. There are several great beaches in Cozumel that are better options there.

I have been to many of the sites in the region and with kids I would recommend going to Chaccoben there are many buildings to give you a good look at the Maya world. If you choose Native Choice (I have used them for at least 10 years and recommend them also) look into the Mayan Experience tour. besides going to Chacchoben they also make a stop at a local Mayan village where you they make a mayan meal and you can roam around the home grounds.

  11. Since LFK is a private island you cannot go there by boat outside of theirs. Their snorkel tour takes you to a section of the reef where the water can be deep and so not recommended for a 3 year old, however it is a really good section of reef to see as an adult.. The dock area and around the island there are plenty of places the a little one can look down into he water and see fish. Also they have a collection of rescued animals some of which they will let you pet and hold.

  12. Thanks for the tip. How much time is needed to get a couple photos at kinichna?

Our guide asked if we wanted to go to Knichna that we limit our climbing on all the buildings in Dzibanche so there would be time for us to climb up Kinichna. Had I known this before I would have asked on the bus to the site so everyone knew that this was the one to climb...in fact when I go back in March I will be asking that enroute.

  13. I have been to both Kohunlich and Dzibanche and there are definite differences. Kohunlich is pretty well fully excavated while Dzibanche is in the process of excavating. Kohunlich is a busier site with multiple busses from ships and local tours. you cannot climb in Kohunlich, however they have ways to get you to the top of a few buildings. the tour takes a good hour and half and goes through most of the buildings and residences. the last time I was there(in March) there were about 6 bus tours going through so I thought it was crowded.

Dzibanche on the other hand was quiet. We were the only group there and were a group of 10 people. you can climb on the buildings if you like ( I will give you a little tip at the end) and you can see how they are excavating the site.

Tip: if you use Native Choice(which I have used for the last 15 years) and go to Dzibanche ask to stop at Kinichna. Cruise tours usually do not go here. Kinichna is a single acropolis located just a few miles from Dzibanche. It has three tiers and when you get to the top you can see 360(you can see dzibanche in the distance. This is not to be missed in my opinion.

  14. I get close to and play with many small children starting about a month before. This way all the germs will be in my system before I head to the ship. I also only wash my hands when I really need to. I believe the more you are exposed to germs the less likely you get sick......

Of course I am just kidding. when on board I use the hand sanitizers and "Washy Washy". I just keep mindful of things and I have survived so far. I have had Cruise cough once that last for a few weeks after the cruise...

  15. I agree with everyone else...attend the first 1 or 2 get-togethers and size up the crowd. I also usually travel as a single since my partner passed away. 1 have put in roll calls and had normally just a few responses. but when I have been on board there are usually a few people sho show up. Last year on the Epic there ended up being 20 people who got together every night, spent time together throughout the cruise. One of the best groups, Last February there were only 5 people, yet I saw many more tribe members throughout the week(and that was on the Getaway)......

I usually went to the late show which was at 10ish. and ate around the times when the group met. Most time after the first or second night I ended up eating with someone from the group
