Thank you TTS! 🥰  I don't think I will relax until we are on the Moon with a tipple in hand!  So many knots in my body that I feel like a piece of macrame!

Hope all goes well and you enjoy your stay on the Moon....don’t forget the tipple on the table as the one in hand does not usually last that long....look forward to your reports which are always of interest....relax and enjoy!!

We will be in ur first SS cruise in August and dining reservations just opened.   La Dame is the only specialty restaurant on Whisper but on “My Silversea” we had options to reserve the main dining room, the grill, and La terrazza.  Is this necessary or can we just be spontaneous depending on our mood that evening?

Never made reservations in MDR,Grill and La Terrazza in 27 years cruising with SS and never had a problem eating where we wanted with whom we wanted at what time we wanted.Suggest you go with your mood on the evening and enjoy. If you decide to eat with friends occasionally would suggest you reserve tables for six or more during the day.Hope this helps.

  3. So sad to learn of Joe’s passing .Looking back through the memory bank we were so fortunate to enjoy their company on well over twenty of our SS experiences.RIP our memorable friend.

  4. Sad to read of so many occurrences on board SS ships that are not up to the old fashioned luxury conditions we were lucky enough to enjoy on an annual basis from the 90s to pre Pandemic. Thanks to those reporting as it helps in assessing a return to SS date for us which sadly at the moment looks a distance away.

For those long time SS cruisers who enjoyed travelling with David Lawton it has been announced that after a long illness he passed last Thursday. He has gone to join his long time colleague Judy.

We met him on a number of cruises in the early 2000’s, enjoyed his company and jokes, and his deep welsh singing voice. Always a gentleman, even if he did wear red socks.

We join with your thoughts on the sad passing of David Lawton. So many happy memories of cruising with him..RIP

So sorry that ' The Freebie Mob ' are causing the usual havoc for Paying Guests. Those of us who have experienced similar Groups over the Years have often wondered why Silversea allow such behaviour in the name of ' Marketing ' ???. It surely puts off regular Guests. It would seem that due to the weather the usual Dawn to Dusk Partying by the Pool is so far being curtailed !!!

Hope you are keeping well and my response as ever coincides totally with the views you express. Many unwelcome memories of sharing such experiences with you...all the best!

  7. Sailornot,.......Thanks for your detailed summary of your recent Silversea Antarctica cruise experience.Disgusting cruise and more importantly the appalling way SS have dealt with the situation is not the level of service expected from a luxury cruise line. After 20+ years of annual cruising of top quality with SS you helped considerably in making the decision to retire at the top with happy memories rather than risk the future experiences you experienced

  8. We fall into the growing unrest category after 24 successive years of luxury travel on Silversea cruises.Despite the best efforts of the crew on board to maintain luxury standards they and more importantly Silversea clients are being let down by Incompetent Management presiding over a declining standard on the evidence of last  few years.

Basically it’s crap, BM states that it’s a safety issue to protect the guests, more SS BS.

Agree...Hope SS do the right thing and compensate guests for such a reduction in Ports visited particularly as those mentioned were the reason for most people picking the cruise.Doubt it though and suspect it will merely boost SS bank balance.

I fear that the current ineptitude of the Senior Executives at Silversea to communicate a coherent Policy bodes very badly for the future of this once great Line. Their ability to provide inconsistent Information on so many Issues is staggering.

As usual in complete agreement with your views on the Management of the current SS policy. What has happened to the 1990/2020 days we enjoyed together on many wonderful cruises throughout the World. It appears from many more critical comments appear on CC boards in the last few years which are making it impossible for us to be cruising again with SS.We live with wonderful memories of the old SS we sailed regularly for so long and occasionally with yourselves.Hope you are well

Second but minor moan, today was a Mardi Gras dinner, informed in advance to the World Cruisers, but not published in the Chronicles since we joined and no announcement by Fernando today. Why?

Our experience of being on a World Cruise for 42 day cruise was the same as you indicated. It was as if we were making up the numbers to ensure the World Cruisers enjoyed all the ships facilities as Private guest you had to work round it .Dining room closures to make sure only World Cruisers were admitted and Special Shows and Excursions were set aside for WCs.Thankfully we returned to the excellent service of SS for next years to date when all passengers on board were treated the same.

Very bizarre comment brimary.  " Uninhabited Islands with nothing to see "  -  you obviously havent been to Antarctica or South Georgia or other "uninhabited islands" in the South Atlantic.

Just to correct your comment.....have sailed to Antarctica on two occasions.

As I mentioned it’s not really the in suite offerings that I’m interested in … it’s a lovely g&t prepared by an excellent barman … so wondering what the gin choices are in the different bars.

Let the barman know your preference and if it’s on board it will be provided for you .....that has been our experience.Enjoy!

Thanks for this info. I missed the fact that this thread is about ‘in suite’ offerings. I’m more interested to find out the bar selections. If anyone can enlighten me … TIA

In our experience when making the booking let Silversea know your in suite requirements and in most of our 20 years SS cruising our special requests have been met .

  15. Jeff.....Thanks for your excellent report on SS which is appreciated as it takes us back to the mid 90s when we commenced our annual cruises with SS.Many of the standards you mention were in evidence then and resulted in our annual association with the SS brand.Sadly the standards have reduced in quality which we put down to reduction in The level of back office rather than on ship qualities which remain at a high level and is the main reason we continue our lengthy experience with Silversea on an annual basis.Hope the on ship qualities remain at a high enough level to retain our support for a few more years.Don’t think the RCC takeover has done SS any favours in moving forward on a Mass Market approach to what was a luxurious small ship line in the 90’s and early 2000s!!

Good Afternoon tbliss - regrettably your Post dated 12th January does not seem to have appeared - Have you received any further Information about the Barcelona to Lisbon Sector ? - we have not in spite of numerous chasings by my Agent ( and myself ). We are getting rather fed up with the Silversea attitude as its now nearly 6 months since this Sector was ' Waitlisted '

Mayflower..Hope you are both keeping well despite the Pandemic.Sorry to hear of the appalling back office service from SS regarding your potential future cruise .Hope it is sorted soon!As you know from a previous experience we shared on a half chartered Silversea cruise we totally share your views on how the quality of the product is affected for a couple hoping to enjoy a luxury cruise amidst a half ship charter who dominate the dining facilities and Pool area every day.SS Executive who answered our complaint suggested in future we ask whether the ship is subject to a charter when making a future booking.Unfortunately very mixed results in following this advice.   .We have not raised the courage to contemplate a future booking yet ,maybe 2023,but hope all goes well with your booking !!

  17. Les.....Thanks for the reports of your current experiences on board which have helped us come to our personal conclusions on future cruising after 22 successive years of luxury experiences on SS.The detail you have supplied of the current situation on board will have been extremely helpful to many SS cruisers like ourselves who were contemplating returning to SS at the end of this year.Thank you for your considerable assistance with your superb and detailed reports which have simplified the decision for ourselves and many other SS regulars. Sincerely hope conditions improve for you and you stay safe!
