I looked at that sailing. I decided I needed my Hawaii fix more so than Panama Canal, which I am doing in 7 days.
And you decided on Radiance rather than Ovation? I"m going to see the Next Cruise people today.

When you search a roll call and try to look at the list of who is on the roll call (not the discussion), you are only permitted to see the first ten registrants in alphabetical order even though there might be many more on the roll call.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to keep us in the loop these last two weeks. Keep enjoying life to the max - a good friend used to tell me, "you only go round once". I enjoyed seeing the original Pinnacles - some very nice people there!

This topic was mentioned last week by my cruise companions on Explorer so I snapped a shot of one of the cabin doors in my hallway. Never got a glimpse of who lived there [emoji39]

If we are not concerned with pre existing conditions when do you recommend buying the insurance? Does the price go up as the sail date gets closer?
After John's cancer diagnosis in 2013 I learned a lot about third party insurance. We continued booking a lot of cruises and at final payment would evaluate the likelihood of being able to do the trip. Sometimes we would cancel and if not, would add insurance for more expensive trips. CSA covers pre-existing (I realize you don't need that) as long as you buy within 24 hours of final payment. I also used the websites Insuremytrip and Sqaremouth to find possibilities. I lost faith in Squaremouth because a company I used through them gave me an extremely hard time with a claim. The only other claim we had was with CSA and it went beautifully. If buying insurance at the time of final payment, the cost was usually around 10% of trip cost. I don't know how that compares to buying it earlier.

On Sunday mornings a quick walk off and taxi to MIA has been easy peasy for us, but other days of the week have been much more problematic.

I finally got tired of all the gyrations required to maximize the value of BOA points and resigned myself to redeeming the large balance I once had for OBC which I usually cash out. Not what I planned when I first got the card which is why I now use better options. Not earned since its not set in stone. They just happen on occasion. And no guarantee you get the inviteAny thoughts on the BOA credit card cruise?
Also what is the longest it's taken for Royal to claw back the extra points?

As for the longest it might take for them to "claw back" points, I recently lost 10 which were mistakenly awarded to me in 2012[emoji39]

OK, I'm over it. [emoji16]
Downside is we rarely use that card so I have to wait a couple cycles so they can send a check.

Or go spend the credit - surely there's a cruise you could apply it to???

Thanks for posting your musings. Certainly a memorable adventure for you and it was great following along. Will you be enjoying life at home for a while?

I feared I'd lose my breakfast when I caught a glimpse of that bowl of brains which is why I didn't quote/copy it. A thousand yucks:eek:

I spotted Marie's beautiful bangle in those Great Wall photos and wondered if she'd gotten it there - did she try it on both her right arm and then the left? It looks lovely on her! I bought one too, but lost my grip once when putting it on and let it fall onto our bathroom tile :loudcry: I did my best super gluing it but not the same.
Re comments on the Forbidden City, I didn't learn this until recently when I was reading a book about Genghis Khan, but that structure dates from when the Mongols had control before the Ming dynasty. The author said the Mongols generally allowed the conquered regions to continue their own lifestyles rather than force Mongolian habits on everyone. In the city which later became Beijing many diverse people mixed together in the broader city, but the royal family of the Mongols secluded themselves in a "forbidden city" where they could continue their Mongol traditions behind closed doors. Our Chinese guide never mentioned the Mongols so I hadn't heard that before.
Hope your trip home is smooth and thank you again for your brilliant live reporting!!!

This final temple was where the emperor would go to pray for the crops. He would go three times a year, spring, fall and winter. The winter visit was to say thank you for the harvest.

Sorry I was slow to find your posts but I'm amazed and grateful that you find the time to share your adventures - THANK YOU!!! When we visited this temple in 2008 we were told they had a special tie with the state of Oregon to supply replacement timbers for the temple since there are not too many trees in the world large enough. I look forward to crossing paths with you and Marie one day, but in the meantime your posts are a genuine treasure!!!

As well, many have overcome page loading issues by clearing cookies, history and/or using a different browser to log in.You might try using a private/incognito browser window to log in. This sometimes clears whatever is holding up the log in. Once you've logged in successfully. You should be able to log out and go back to using a regular browser window to log in.Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk

I tried that before calling them. Thanks.
Make sure your birthday is correct in your profile details.

Sorry I didn't post this earlier but perhaps it'll help someone. If you want to visit the Burj Khalifa and go up for the view, a great way to do it is to email the concierge from the website and reserve for cocktails. The lounge is one level below the viewing platform and you enter the tower at a special door where they have your name and send you up a special elevator. We enjoyed the sunset and a couple of drinks each a few years ago. There was a 70 usd minimum for gents, nothing for ladies. Besides a memorable experience, a good bargain compared to tickets to the viewing platform.

Nice photo - looks like a good time being had by all (y) The times we've been in that region the ship has been part of a convoy and a team of British Navy and their gear have been onboard. They also taped up brown paper over many windows that didn't have curtains. Thanks for your postings - good fun to follow you!

I'm sure this has been asked recently since the launch of the renovated website but I searched and couldn't find a workaround.
Has anyone been able to make a new, recent booking appear in the new dashboard? What did you have to do?
The ones I've recently booked have shown up. In the past I've encountered two problems which might be yours. One is if the number needs a zero added in before the first number. The second is when a confirmation number has changed - got a first confo from the agent but a second one a few weeks later when a RCCL confo letter was sent to me.

B&J did you try "Forgot PW" and subsequent registration with your email address?

Yep - the friendliness quotient is less evident lately and I find myself skimming over more posts than in the past - for sure the demeaning ones. I don't really understand why it's developed that way.I agree! No need for you to apologize TG! CC used to be such a fun place! People shared ideas, experience, information, etc. I have learned so much from different people on these boards over the years! Who cares if info is "repeated" and "not new"?!?!?! It is nice that we all have the common interest of cruising and have a place to "meet" 24/7! I spend about 5% of the time on CC that I did in previous years! The threads have just gotten too snarky! There are some "continuous" threads that I have "left" simply because folks are too snarky or think it is all about them. I miss the days when I could log on here and find my friends and enjoy a nice "cruise conversation".Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk

Since they are notifying people about the drydock, hopefully they will make an announcement soon about what upgrades they will be doing.
I have no official info on this but it seems likely that Navigator's enhancements will be similar to what Adventure recently got. You can review those by looking at the deck plans.

I would avoid squaremouth.com. I used them for one trip and did have to cancel and file a claim for medical reasons. It took months to get my claim paid. Along the way they "lost" paperwork that I sent them at their request, made a lot of absurd demands on "documentation" and refused to cover the portion of my trip that was paid for with a Celebrity gift card because they only cover payments made with cash, check or credit card....Until I said the L word they dragged their feet. Oh, I was admitted to the hospital 5 days before we were due to depart and had a cardiac cath done the day before we were supposed to leave. The good news is that because I went to the hospital I am fine today.....If I had put it off it would not have been a good thing.
I had a similar experience trying to get a claim reimbursed from a company I found through Squaremouth, so I'm not using them anymore for recommendations. A claim I filed for a company I found on Insuremytrip.com went through very smoothly.

That should be a good one! I probably won't book for May 2020 because I'm spending 24 days on Voyager in Australia from April into May. I look forward to cruising with you again!
