We are looking for a hotel for 3 nights pre-cruise. We've already toured Santiago so are planning on heading straight to the coast after our morning flight arrival.
We need transportation from the airport and also recommendations for hotels. Have no idea whether it is better to stay in Valparaiso or Vina del Mar although we do plan on touring both
We are two seniors and on a good day, walking OK. On a bad day ....
Any help would be appreciated.

There are two check points each way-out of Argentina, into Brazil, out of Brazil and into Argentina. Our tour guide handled each transaction accept the first one leaving Argentina. They required we come into the building with our passports at that first one. Other than that she took the six passports (two guides, one driver, three tourists) into each place and handled it. I have no idea about the visas. I don't think Brazil requires them anymore.
Thank you. And I did check based on your post and, no, Brazil does not require a visa anymore for US citizen entering for tourism 🙂

We flew to the Argentinian side…..don’t remember which airport we left from…I think the smaller domestic one…
it was so easy. We made all our own reservations. Had the hotel set up transfers as well as bringing us to the Brazil side of the falls for a few hours.
Did the hotel take care of the Brazilian visas?

This hotel was well worth it. So convenient…just walk to the falls whenever you want….they has a car service that you could book to take you to the other side, the airport, etc….
Thank you.
Another question please ... which airports did you use? There are two in Buenos Aires and 3, I found, near the Falls.

Just confirming you are referring to the Brazilian side because I'm looking to stay at the hotel on the Argentinian side.

Was at Beach Limerz in February. Lovely beach. Bar with drinks and food. Taxi, arranged by the bar, was $7 pp each way.

Our cruise ends in Buenos Aires and planning on doing post-cruise at Iguazu Falls.
I just discovered there are actually three airports at IF and was wondering which was the best to fly into.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I'm still trying to decide whether to book there or in town.
Big difference in prices and not sure it is worth is staying in the park.
Can anyone tell me what convinced them one way or the other?

The Galapagos islands require a lot of walking over mostly uneven terrain. Did it about 14 yrs ago. Now 75. If you are fit and walk regularly, it shouldn't be a problem.

DW and I were just talking about this. If we get a good staff the first night we'll get the names and table number and try to get them firm for the week. But we're not holding our breath. Do they understand how this affects staff tips?
Glad you are not holding your breath. We tried.
As for tips, yes, we like to establish a relationship and tip appropriately. If wait staff gets different diners every night, why should they go the extra mile? It gets them nothing.

We were told it was the computer as well. Not really buying it. Our next 2 cruises it's just the 2 of us so it's not a big deal. But we had 7 in March and it was a real pain.
It was just the two of us and not happy. Every night a different wait station.

The MDR is our main concern. On both Sky and Caribbean we got bounced from table to table for the first 4 nights. Very inefficient. Food on CP was good to very good. Food on Sky didn't even approach good until day 5. Also, more than once on Sky the staff was argumentative (trying to be polite with that word).
So we're mainly looking for MDR and bar comparisons between Sky and Enchanted. We've seen a few in this thread but more is usually better.
Was on the Enchanted in February. I don't know how it will be a year from now but same table to table to table, all over the MDR. Hated it. Spoke to the head waiter. Told me the computer was doing it and, yes, pax not happy

Do it now. If you want to eat in a 6 to 7 time frame, reservations can be hard to get.
Don't worry if you get double charged. They will just show up as credits on your cabin on board statement.

On Princess Cay just got chairs under a shelter. Free and a short walk to the beach.

To answer some ship related questions, need to know which ship.
And knowing which ports of call can help advise with excursion information.

Also can recommend Beach Limerz. Was also just there in February.

Thanks for the info. We are sailing in August. Just finished a sailing in Feb. Deleted the app and will reinstall in July, hoping a bunch of the stuff has been fixed.

They most certainly are not! We heard that a refund could take up to 60 days! What if we want to book another cruise for early May (only 6 weeks away!)? We either have to just pay for the new cruise and wait for the refund or choose the FCC and wait until they get around to processing this. Very frustrating!
So here is an idea. Suppose one goes ahead and books a close-in cruise and pays with a credit card. When the credit card bill is received, the charge is disputed as 'this was supposed to be credited out by Princess due to a canceled cruise.' In the end might end up having to pay for it until credit does come through but in the meantime, can postpone the payment without incurring any interest penalty. If nothing else, wonder if this might speed up the credit processing.
-
Interesting. Why would you take a credit and tie up your money when you can get it refunded? Doesn't seem to be any benefit going the FCC route.

Yes, this is true. Coffee is still on the complimentary room service door tag that you have to put out the night before. I don't see why you couldn't call and ask for that instead of going through the app. I wished I had paid better attention to what beverages were complimentary for room service outside of the beverage package. We always have the beverage package though.
Yes, can certainly call room service. But the better solution, if they want people to use the app, is add those options.

I ended up on the Argentine page of Aerolineas, the Argentine airline. English version.
I noticed that he flights offered on their site, as well as the prices, differed from other airline booking sites. Strange. We are used to booking but have only previously encountered an airline pricing discrepancy like this in Turkey.
I called the North American 1 800 number for Aerolineas. The CSR told me I could access these flights at these prices ONLY by calling the Aerolineas call center in Buenos Aires. She gave me the number, told me that English was not a problem but they would be limited in the amount that could be charged.
I called down to BA. Sure enough I had an english speaking clerk. I asked for the flights we wanted. No issue whatsoever. The only slight rub was that it had to be two transactions. One each because of the limit. I think 5000 pesos or something.
This is what we did. Took 10 minutes at the most. Even thought these were not the heavily discounted fares for locals the fares were 30 percent less than any other web site. The other plus was that we had access to more flights. In our case we wanted to fly up in the AM, and fly home the next day very late afternoon.
We did not stay in the park hotel. We stayed in town. Cab took us to our hotel. Flat fee...very reasonable. There is a direct bus service from the town to the park. We used this. Cost was minimal. Service frequent.
We were not certain whether to go. So glad we did.
Hope this helps.
Thank you! Helps a lot!

We took a river cruise out of Iquitos, Peru and saw pink dolphins and went by the salt lick.
Great trip.
Resort Recommendation For 3 to 4 nights post cruise
in San Juan, PR
Posted
I don't know if anyone can help but thought I'd try.
We will have a car so it doesn't need to be close to San Juan.
Would like a place with a nice beach that provides umbrellas and chairs.
On site restaurant for breakfast. For other meals would be nice but not necessary since we'll have a car.
Can anyone help?
